Something wrong with Canadian dollars? It's not like we like getting dinged on the exchanged by our CC companies you know.

Maybe they don't want a Canadian presence due to your countries asinine laws about foreign ownership, who knows. Doing everything in a single currency has several benefits too.

Balked? You mean Baulked? Cause saying balk makes it sound like they are sounding like chickens over there, "balk balk balk". Which I guess is quite apt anyway haha

Its in several dictionaries, including the Oxford dictionary, as both so I don't see why its so unacceptable here *shrug*

Let's get our dukes up over neighborhood though

I work over by a hospital and am alarmed at the number of staff there that smoke, sometimes still in scrubs...

Driving by the hospital here there is often a big group huddle of nurses smoking, they have to do it just off the property due to a smoking ban. Wonderful example they're setting.

Quitting smoking was one of the best decisions I made in my life awhile ago. It opened up so many other things, I started mountain climbing, biking and being able to actually taste food again was wonderful.

Tip of the iceberg, the Windows Store is filled with meaningless clutter and multiple iterations of apps. At one point I was looking for VLC and there was something like 11 copies of it.

Wow, forgot about that drive. Not much use today, but it sure was great back then. Still have mine lying around here somewhere, bet it still works too.

But enjoy the new SSD experience, if you haven't had one before! Even one of today's cheapest ones will probably blow you away...
I had a Raptor back in the day and it was unbelievably noisy and performance wasn't that much better than a traditional drive. SSDs on the otherhand are much more dramatic.

I look forward to when SSDs are affordable enough to replace HDDs altogether. Until then I'm looking at a 5TB HDD for my next purchase (the 6TB drives are a bit too expensive still).

I have a 1TB Samsung 840 EVO which does the job as a boot/steam drive. It was $290.00USD on a deep sale. 1TB is more than enough for me to keep a bunch of games installed and rotate out old ones. With the ability to move installs to different drives and whatnot it becomes pretty easy to have multiple Steam libraries anyway. Anything I haven't played in 2 years gets moved to a different drive and it still shows up fine in Steam.

I have finally cured myself of Steam Sale Syndrome, I make sure I am only playing one singleplayer game at a time and one MP game. Split attention was causing me to keep accruing games but never being able to get around to them.

The Freespace campaigns were awesome but I think too many companies now want the revenue tools that multiplayer provides.

(While agreeing to respectfully disagree with you) I don't believe her aim is true. I honestly think she's a narcissist, who wants to use a common (granted, real) complaint to propel herself to success, by creating as much attention for herself as she can. She goes against the status quo in order to be noticed, and the more people that notice her, the better.

Because Everyone Loves A Victim.

Agreed. The victim complex is getting really tiresome. I try to be reasonable about these things but I'm out of patience with their message. When you yell at people enough they become deaf to what you're saying.

Always follow the money

What a shock, another "my safety!" followed by a plea for money.

I'm amazed that a public figure who makes a spectacle of themselves received a death threat from someone mentally unstable, that never happens to anyone.

And it has no bearing in the context to which he was referring, which was Ladders/Seasons, which the economy is reset on both PC and Console.

Yes it does, his whole point is that there isn't really much of a player to player economy on one versus the other which is pretty much true. The idea that trading between 3 other players (who have to be present in your game) for 2 hours is the same thing as an unrestricted trading economy is a huge stretch and misses the point.

Well said Eraser, but it wont convince the fanbois. Its not Blizzard being cheap and not having enough servers for peak demand. Its never Blizzards fault.

These guys hit the PSN servers with 263 Gbps of traffic. That's in addition to whatever regular traffic they sustain. It really isn't Blizzards fault, use your head man.

Which guys?

The same group that has been DDOSing everyone all week, Team Lizard or whatever they call themselves. Read the news.

Thanks for the link, strange stuff, its almost like an afterthought. Valve said they're going to do Movies and TV series but so far I haven't seen anything on it. Valve in general has a lot of projects up in the air, I wonder whats going on over there. Steambox, various video game iterations, SteamOS, etc.

How did they beat Steam to the punch?
Steam has movies as well(granted, not DRM-free).
Movies are not very prominently featured on Steam. I guess many Steam customers are not aware of them at all.

I knew they were planning to do it but I didn't see any official implementation yet for movies, tv series, etc. There's a spot for the music player, a VR mode toggle and all that but I don't see anything related to movies. Are they just randomly tossed into the database? Even just browsing the web store there is no category for them unless I'm just overlooking it.

No, the story campaign is just singleplayer. There are specific co-op campaigns separate from the story.

When people say economy in that context they typically mean a player to player economy and that's certainly what he was referring to here, he even specified it as such in a follow up.

Pretty fucked up that kids as young as 8 can legally use firearms. They can't drive until they are 16, drink until they are 21...but hey let's put a full auto Uzi in their hands and see what happens. Fucked up society.

The "think of the children" arguments about nudity, violence and coarse language always amuse me when put into that sort of context.

There is very little difference between hardware manufacturers in terms of reliability, we buy in bulk at work and just go for price. One of the hardware guys keeps a spreadsheet tracking it and there was less than 1% reliability difference between the top and bottom. Sometimes you get a bad batch but that's often due to shipping as much as anything else. Newegg for a long time had people thinking that the WD Reds were unreliable because they were shipping them in a terrible state and people were getting lots of DOAs.

I know backblaze did some tests awhile back but they were ripping drives out of externals and all sorts of other stuff that can influence results.

The only thing that bugs me about Seagate is just that their warranty period is often short but unfortunately thats just a sign of the times, other drive manufacturers are going the same route.
