Nintendo really needs to repair its relationship with EA, they went from being all gungho Wii U previously to total disinterest. As much as I dislike EA, their sports titles are almost essential to console longevity. Nintendo has a similar beef going with Amazon and it's hurting 3DS sales as well.

Most of these content holders don't get it. People aren't going to seek their content individually at studioname.com, they want it all in one place which is what makes Netflix streaming so attractive.

I agree with JD, I don't expect Netflix streaming to have every single title out there but they have most bases covered and more than enough content to last a lifetime. It's a no brainer bargain, particularly once you develop your Instant Queue a bit.

I think some people are just tiring of 2D based games with sprite based characters and/or simplistic textures and models. It doesn't bother me personally but I've seen a lot of similar complaints on forums and I think it's just a condition of how far developed that side of the industry has become that it's raised expectations.

As for Phil Fish and Fez, I'm torn because I like good games but it's hard to knowingly support such a tremendous douchebag who has basically spit on my favorite platform. On the flipside I guess most companies have a few of them so *shrug*

Best to watch the gameplay videos of it to answer that question. I don't know how accurate my explanation would be, as I don't really dive into the intricacies of Sim building games.

With that said Anno games to me seem to thrive on efficient placement of resource buildings that ultimately means separating all resource and building types, thus not having an intermixed city at all. So as someone said, you are building an empire, not a city. The island maps of Anno lends itself to this design, and it's not necessarily a bad thing. It's just different. It's not totally like the Caesar games, maybe just moreso with the focus on building the Trade empire, and later on in the game the bit of RTS combat that came into play. There are just more similarities to Caesar, than say SimCity.

Anno 2070 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYFLhADYd3k

Hmm ok, it sounds interesting and I'm watching the video now, I'll probably pick it up, thanks man!

I was a bit miffed at the value proposition in Tropico 3 vs 4 but once I got over that I ended up enjoying it as much as the older one. You can get it super cheap these days too, it's a real bargain compared to SimCity. It's bizarre that such a little game can get a basic gameplay concept right (the agent system) while SimCity totally screws it up. Tropicos iteration is very basic using templates but the game also functions properly soooo

I never played the Caesar games, are they much more technical than SimCity games? I'm wondering whether I should pick up Anno or not.

I realize I'm probably in the minority, but D3 wasn't a debacle in my opinion. They had issues for the first day (which a lot of game have). Sim City over a month later is still completely broken. People still have never gotten some of their cities back, some still losing cities. As people lose cities and abandon the game, it breaks regions which fucks over any other player in that region. The Ai is still badly broken and their 2.0 patch created more bugs than it fixed. I really wanted to be enticed to get SimCity, but I luckily didn't bite on pre-ordering that one.

I'd consider Diablo 3 was more of a design debacle with great production values than anything else. Its launch day issues were certainly annoying but relatively minor compared to SimCity, people were more upset about the features in the long run. I give Blizzard kudos though, rain or shine they behind their products and things seem to be going in a positive direction now that they have competition from POE and have a new producer at the helm. That said, I agree that it was nowhere near the same situation as SimCity which is an inherently fucked game with little redeeming value and has an unsupportive parent company behind it. In many ways the shitty SimCity launch actually hid what a broken piece of crap the game is so EA is almost lucky for having screwed the pooch there.

A:CM falls somewhere in between, it shipped in a very poor state without much play testing and has numerous design flaws. My buddy tells me the co-op is fun but literally almost anything is fun with friends + beer so I need more than that from my games these days with so many great ones to choose from. I'm happy some people who spent money on it found some redeeming value though, it sucks when people get burned. To be fair to Gearbox/Sega, at least it is getting patched although I'm not sure some aspects can really be fixed by patch alone.

Anyways it sucks that the Alien license can't seem to climb out of this hole, it's one of my favorites

Internet opinion police constable ITT.

It's pretty but it's not as pretty or as high quality as Guild Wars 2 if you're wanting to compare graphics OR art style. Animations are NO where near as good as GW2. Armor design is OK, metal armors can look pretty good. It was pretty cool as a wizard to have a David Bowie "Labyrinth" orb but that's literally the ONLY weapon you'll see and each one looks exactly alike... a floaty see-through ball.

I wouldn't call it immersive at all, though. Everything is instanced and the instance design is very corridor-ish. Even the "open-world" areas feel claustrophobic because of this and it's extremely clear where the zone boundries are.

By all means though, try it. It looks nice enough.. my biggest gripe with it was how trivial and devoid of requiring thought the content is. Remember those immersion breaking glitter paths in Fable 2/3? Yeah... this game is full of them.

That about sums up my thoughts as well. I thought it was fairly ho-hum, run of the mill MMO stuff without much reason to choose it over others beyond the Foundry. Time will tell if the community can raise this from average to good.

Like other Unity games the customization is rudimentary at best and I wish I could zoom out more. I don't know, it's okay, nothing special but I only played 20 mins last night so I need to spend more time with it.

Yeah I don't think they will have any luck with the lawsuit itself though I do like the idea of someone holding them accountable for that whole fiasco in general. That said I bought many shitty games over the years (fuck you Brink) and you just take it as lesson learned and try not to give that company your money again unless they really earn it.

Lol, you're crazy and paranoid. It's highly unlikely anyone would want a picture of you or your family. You have a bad view of the people around you mate.

Nah, I'm not crazy nor paranoid, you just have nothing to offer except personal attacks. If there was no value in active and passive video devices in a public manner then companies wouldn't be trying to make products like this. Again my problem isn't solely someone taking video, its giving people the ability to passively take it without the other party realizing so easily, there's a big difference between this and a traditional camera.

Also if you don't think there are some creepy people out there then spend a night watching the evening news. I don't have a bad view of people, I have countless examples of why people will use this to tramp all over others basic etiquette and stretch laws. Besides, who says its just about that? Google being the largest example of combined personal databases on people is behind this product, so I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility that they will find a way to datamine the video for commercial purposes. It's just common sense to want some regulation of new technology that can have both positive and negative connotations for society.

Yes. Fact. You have proof otherwise? The world would love to hear it.

There was never any real, consolidated opinion from the scientific community about this. It was one of those things that picked up steam thanks to people blindly believing anonymous sources and largely proliferated thanks to the internet, one fake study and paranoid parents seeking a root cause/cure for something that is barely understood.

I notice you haven't shown yourself since posting this silliness either and that's disappointing, at least own your statements.

I hope this whole thing serves as a cautionary tale to both developers and publishers that they shouldn't just shove something out the door for the sake of shipping it. Sunken cost fallacy and all that, the bad press and negative associations here were not worth the meager sales.
