Just had a similar issue with my 60" tv and was able to fix it by opening it up and cleaning everything with airduster and re-seating all the ribbon cable connections. If you haven't yet, Blue, give it a try.

Nothing to lose, at this point.

I'm more interested in knowing if we're getting bots in the game. My PC doesn't have a Dolby Atmos setup.

No heavily-multiplayer games these days feature or at least depend on bots. Look at how Battlefield games dropped bots completely. We're in the day and age of fast, always-on Internet access. Multiplayer is the key. My only gripe is the proposed 40 player limit.

Bots will be available.

I've never played this Euro Truck Simulator game but it's actually got a substantial player base from Steam Stats. What's the draw? Isn't it a deliver against the clock type of game?

It seems at any time of the day 10,000 people are playing it.

It's surprisingly relaxing and fun.

"Windows 10 Bombshell"... Not really a bombshell. If anyone has been following Windows 10 news and were watching Paul Thurott or Mary Jo Foley they'd have known about this for a bit.

It's a very good position IMO, patch when needed, not on some arbitrary day every month.

But for business, there's also a downside. We have to test patches before rolling them out (and have a fallback plan), and doing them at determined times, instead of just at random, when MS kicks one out, is going to be interesting.

Meh. Still a gimmick. Great for racing games/flying sims/rollercoaster tech demos, but I'll keep waiting for holodeck/brain implants.

Seeing it being used in Alien Isolation, Elite, and GTA, it looks like an awesome "gimmick".

roguelike
I hear this term thrown around a lot by Indie devs. What exactly does it entail?
I feel like it's probably evolved into something that it wasn't originally.

The name comes from Rogue, a dungeon crawler from 1980. Here are some of the tenets of roguelikes:
- levels are procedurally generated.
- death is usually permanent
- mob randomization often means you can meet mobs well beyond your abilities at the start of the game.
- game is usually turnbased or has some way to pause the action so moves can be considered.
- there is usually a variety of loot and some kind of "character" leveling system

Wikipedia: Roguelike.

And just for some examples, some recent good Rogue-likes and Rogue-lights are as varied as Binding of Isaac, Rogue Legacy, FTL...

I generally hate the concept of rogue games, and restarting with nothing. But holy shit Rogue Legacy hooked me. Being able to improve your character, even if it's slight, keeps me playing.

Got it "free" with plus, and I bet I've put more than 20 hours into it...hadn't played it for a few weeks and fired it again the other night, and now it's on the brain again.

My biggest problem with that one is who is the team, and what have they worked on previously (I scanned the page, but didn't watch the video)?

Time to bust out the popcorn.

I have a love/hate relationship with elections. From now until about June of 2016, it's all fun and games, and comedy is in no short supply.

But in some point in the spring/early summer of next year, it stops being funny when you realize one of these nuts (and to be clear, it's all parties) actually has a shot at running things for awhile. And that's when it gets scary...

I didn't pre-order it and I haven't played New Order Yet...but damn, that looked fun. Damn this backlog of games...

I paid full price for New Order and have no regrets. It's a good story, with memorable characters and great gunplay. My GOTY for 2014, hands down. If you buy it on steam for $45, you get both for $45.

My only concern is the length of the DLC, as I think it's only like 7 chapters. We'll see how long that translates into hours of gameplay tomorrow, with reviews (I hope).

But I REALLY hope Machine Games (who did both the game and DLC) gets to make the followup. The ending (of New Order) is a bit of a cliffhanger (stick around for the very end of the credits), and I'd love to know what happens next.

And those sort of clownish antics are precisely why boxing is a shadow of its former glory. Someone should sic the Treasury Department on them for a larf. From their website....

Defacement of currency is a violation of Title 18, Section 333 of the United States Code. Under this provision, currency defacement is generally defined as follows: Whoever mutilates, cuts, disfigures, perforates, unites or cements together, or does any other thing to any bank bill, draft, note, or other evidence of debt issued by any national banking association, Federal Reserve Bank, or Federal Reserve System, with intent to render such item(s) unfit to be reissued, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than six months, or both.

Defacement of currency in such a way that it is made unfit for circulation comes under the jurisdiction of the United States Secret Service. The United States Secret Service web address is www.secretservice.gov.
