out of idle curiosity, what's a largish breed that's basically a lazy bum and is otherwise low maintenace (low shedding, no slobbering, etc).

You sound like a possible candidate for a rescue Greyhound. They are apparently quite content to be couch potatoes after all the athletics.

I worked with a woman years ago who housed them while her group tried to find them homes. I'm not much of a dog person, but they were beautiful animals (one in particular almost had a leopard looking pattern in it's fur), and generally very sweet.

The only problem with them was apparently when you give them a warm bath, they totally relax in the tub and then you can't get them back out.

Also, this just went up at Ars. You'll never guess who is coming to the defense of Peter Molyneux.

If you guessed it was someone else that walked away from a game unfinished, you'd be right.

I was going to guess Phil Fish...

I like dogs, but I'd never own one. Way too much work, especially for those of us in areas where real winter bares its teeth. If I were going to get a pet it would probably be two cats.

I appreciate the fact that you realize a certain pet isn't for you, before getting one. There's more than a few folks that either don't think ahead, or treat them as a disposable item that can be dumped at any time.

But if you're looking for servitude (you to them, that is), cats are a good bet!

Ever have a game with show_fps on during a loading screen and getting 500+fps? Now with the miracle of DX12 you can now get 900+fps!

The crazy cat guy agrees. I've spending upwards of $500+ a month right now to keep one of mine going. But she's not in pain, and is about 90% of her usual self (other than sleeping a bit more). On the surface, that's nuts...but when it's one of yours...we'll quit when she's ready to quit, and not before.

edit: And Blue, why not just show fuckfuck the door?

I grabbed it, too. I know I had one pack (think it was the sonic one), but steam let me register all 5 keys...oh well, it says I own them all now.

edit: And thanks, Blue!

I think the Sonic one might be different from the packs in this bundle - I looked in Steam and it says I have 56 games in my Sega Genesis And Mega Drive Classics list.

I count 54 in mine? What's a better way to count then scrolling through the DLC tab? I did it twice and think it was 54 both times? What am I missing?

edit: OK, in game says 54, too. Are you sure yours is 56?

3 hours to go on Shadowrun: Hong Kong!

At nearly 1.2mill their original goal $100,000 wow

Yeah, was hoping it might hit 1.2 million before the end. It hasn't really had the end spike you see on a lot of KS. But it did well, and kicktraq says the average pledge is $38, which is awesome.

I'm thrilled it got the reception it did, and I can't wait to see the results.

Terraria was not that great a game, so I don't expect much from this one too. Really was not much of a sandbox, just another sidescroller masquerading as one.

I'll give that a 3 out of 10. Not much effort. Rather sad, really.

This game looks really cool: http://www.no-mans-sky.com/

I know it's probably been on the news before but I just heard about it the other day. If they can pull it off then I'll be all over it.

Yeah, it's been discussed several times now. JD has the gist of it. The tech looks interesting-ish, but we don't see where the actual gameplay is. That is to say the same problem with games like ED where the sandbox may be very wide, but it is o' so shallow.

Funny how interjecting the word sandbox into a game design makes everyone excited until they find out that their idea of what a sandbox is and the what the designer thinks are two very different things.

So you've played it?
