Oh yay another Cliffski blog where he tells us How It Really Is and why we're all basically cheapskates.

I think his stuff needs to go under the clickbait section as well...

Do I really need to spell out that I'm not talking about a handful of rabid space game fanboys who'll give their eye teeth for a space game, but the vast majority of "normal" people. I don't know if you guys are multi-millionaires or live at home with your parents but for most of us with real life commitments and debts, then yes $150+ for a game is completely fucking absurd. As was discussed last night, even $60 is considered too much by most these days. Most people aren't even looking at games until they're hitting $30 and under.

How much are golf clubs? Or Skydiving? Or a swimming pool? Or a record collection? Or a hunting rifle? Or any other hobbies that people spend money on? More than $150, I bet.

Gaming is a hobby like anything else.

So expensive toys for rich boys. I guess now we know what Balmer always wanted to be when he was a kid. Still that price tag is kind of inflated? Strange that a businessman wouldnt figure out that he got ripped off bigtime, maybe he thought that he was getting the LA Lakers...

"Bill! BILL! I own a basketball team! Do you own one, Bill? No, you don't! Stopping malarias great and all that, BUT I HAVE A TEAM!!!!!"

Hang on, did he just say that my 760GTX with 4GB of VRAM is inadequate to run this game??

Yeah, there was a lot of feet being stuff in a mouth there, huh?

edit: I should say I don't doubt getting it running on a number of platforms was an "incredibly complex task". But the wording here (you don't have unified memory, getting it working on consoles AND YOUR PC is really hard on us!) makes the pc sound like a bit of a stepchild.

Exactly. I want him as a cheerleader... or at least cheerleader choreographer. They could be the Ballmerettes.

Yeah, I'm getting very close to pulling the trigger. It's not like I don't have 3 million other things to play. but I can't tell you the last time I played a space sim.

edit: Anyone that plays today/tonight, I'd love to hear impressions - thanks!

In case any of you wanted to give the DCS A10C a try, this is how you start her up:

First comment under the video is priceless

So SM, if I buy in tomorrow, once the new beta goes live, do I still get the expansion?

Saw the minimum was like a 2XX spec card, so I'm going to give what I have now a go before deciding on an upgrade.

You guys are very delusional; The Gov. has every right to pry into our lives especially after 911. Those asshole were living among us for many years planning their attacks. This is what the NSA is trying to prevent. If you have nothing to hide then you have nothing to worry about. They are not looking for the average person who goes about their daily lives.

Some of you just canít live with the fact that you now live in the electronic age and donít like that fact that your daily life is and will always be examined and spied on. Wait until the next time a terrorist attack takes place in this county, then letís see who all cries about why the Gov. didnít see this coming and why was it not prevented.

This kind of fear is exactly what they prey on. They want you to feel weak, powerless, and scared. That you need them, to justify their existence.

Yes, you guys are the ones living in fear, me I don't care. Because at the end of the day I know I have nothing to worry about. Do you?

Would you like to address any of the other points in this thread, or are you going to keep playing "I'm rubber, you're glue"?

And what world do you live in where speaking out against your government and the laws it broke is considered "fear", but being complicit and saying nothing is considered a good thing?
