I admit, I'm a little surprised.

I guess when you die, you can call the game Road Dead Redemption.

Yeah, I skimmed the headline and was like "Red Dead? What?!"

Cat people are smarter than dog people, study says.

Perhaps, but they're also more likely to hiss at you if you get too close.

This is totally true.

My 6 y/o semi feral cat still hisses at something or other on a daily basis. This morning, she freaked out over me taking my work slacks off the hanger and launched her food bowl (and every thing in it) into the air...

Keep meaning to try it as well. Thought we had a few folks a year or so ago that spoke well of it.

It's hard to imagine a stupider idea for a game. Change the past so that you can paint better?? OMG what has the world come too...

You should read what some people post about it. It's even worse. "stupider" indeed.

Sorry, I don't support companies that say "when it's done" for release dates.

Get a brain and learn to "estimate" or even "guestimate" and provide a "guestimate" date. Better than nothing. Better than the stupid "when it's done" liner.

Then you'd just bitch about it not being done,

No I wouldn't, because I'm smart enough to know what "estimate"/"guestimate" means. derp.

Considering you frequently make no sense whatsoever, you being "smart enough" to put on pants correctly would be a Christmas miracle. (Hint: you don't put them on your head, nor do you shit out the fly.)

Frankly, you're so much past derp, it's an insult to perfectly good derps everywhere.

To me blu-ray discs didn't even exist until I knew for a fact that I could rip them. Discs... Discs are so 19th century. I rip my bought blurays to 1080p h.264 encodes sized about 5gb and have them sit on my NAS and stream them to my TV.. the future!.. And the future does not involve discs if I can help it

But wait, you are still buying/renting the disc to begin with. I can't see how you see buying a BR and using a player as archaic, you have to buy/rip/keep storage/make sure it's all working, etc. Not that what you do is a bad, but I see a very healthy counterpoint of someone just buying the disc and using a player. Simple.

He's buying high bitrate audio/video and then ripping to a lower bitrate (thus taking 25-40+ gig of data down to 5 gig)? Might as well stick with dvds if you're going to do that...

That's like buying a cd and then making 128 mp3s out of it...

"Sleep-away camp"? That's a strange expression, Bruce. I mean doesn't going to "camp" imply you're going to be sleeping away from home to begin with? I'm familiar with day-camp which distinguishes itself by letting you know there will be no sleeping away from home. But if someone tells you they're going camping or 'to camp', don't you already infer they'll be sleeping away?

I have to agree with Cutter, as until Blue put it in the OotB I had never heard of 'sleep-away' camp in my life, with years of camping and going to summer camps in my youth.
Then again I never heard of warsh or corn-hole until moving to the midwest.

Oh, cmon! Everyones heard of sleepaway camp!

10 Classic Sci-Fi Movies With Better Effects Than Modern Films.

I was glad to see The Abyss on that list, a movie that gets way to little credit. I just rewatched, and while the groundbreaking CG gets all the attention in that movie, what blew me away was all the underwater work done in that film. It all looks great, and it's all seamless. It totally holds up and is a showcase for what you can accomplish with practical effects. It's a sci-fi action masterpiece, IMO.

That and True Lies are supposed to be on blu this year, but I've not seen a date yet...I'll lock them in as soon as I can, had Abyss on my wish list for years now.

Curious as to how they enforce this,

It's a simple flag in HDCP. In any case, both Sony and Samsung, and anyone else who thinks we need another format war, can go fuck themselves. I already had roughly 0.000001% interest in buying a 4K tv, and now that has gone to actually negative numbers.

I'll just keep ripping discs...
