It's mention in the pitch video (@1:55) that they had to get a license (not MS specifically), as well as the front page:
The game we want to make is very humble by modern blockbuster game standards but it is still way beyond the ability of a small start-up to fund by itself. The restraints on the license from Microsoft made it impossible to get established publishers interested in Shadowrun and so it remained just a dream for a long time until Jordan saw the recent successes of some other veteran designers on Kickstarter.

other news about Shadowrun came out today too, and they were not DRM related, and much more horrible. No corpse looting, No own saving. (Just checkpoints)..

Except a DRM free version is still being made available...
And yeah, it's funny that people slam DLC, but now suddenly people are pissed a subset won't get DLC...AFTER the Berlin expansion, which they're getting included.

I'm seriously jonsing for this...don't really care about the editor right now (it's neat, don't get me wrong, but I don't really have time to sit down and figure it out), but I wish they'd had an alpha/beta option for backers, as I would have paid extra for it...
June can't come soon enough! Setup my Doc Wagon card last night with a picture of Bender and the name "Bender Rodriguez".

It's only a couple hours long, even with doing everything there is to do.
I'd thought I'd heard 6 8 hours, based on the RPS preview? For $15, I'm fine with that. And I tend to poke along and explore everywhere...

(Years ago) I had a contractor approach my desk about why he couldn't log in, and with net user, I see his account is disabled. I explain it to him, and jokingly say "hope they didn't let ya go!"...
Then I find out HR has been trying to reach him at his desk for a "meeting" and he refused to answer the phone, and eventually fled the building...

Oddly enough the crack GOG uses for Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay sets off my AV every time, I can't run it unless I disable my AV first (NOD32).
I remember there was a game years ago, where they figured out the no cd patch from the dev was actually a no cd patch from the warez groups? Can't remember what game it was now...years ago.
Here's one. It's even more ironic when it's UBI that did it, considering they eventually went with an always-on policy before backing off.
