Watched some of that joystick stream, the combat looked so repetitive as to be really boring after just a short time.

I guess I'm just not a big enough geek fan of Lord of the Rings.

Well, one, they've said it's early on, before you learn more attacks.

Two, the combat reminds me of Arkham (attack, counter, finish, etc)...

That is an exceptional trailer! I am way too spoiled by Steam sales to buy something at full price, and that trailer showed absolutely no in-game footage, but damn was that an epic trailer! Reminds me of the goosebumps the old Blizzard trailers would give me.

3 hour twitch stream from a few weeks ago. Grab some popcorn.

Half the world's wildlife gone over last 40 years. Oops.

On the plus side, the human population has tripled in that time, so at least all that space isn't going to waste.

I'm having flashbacks to The Last of Us, where it's discovered that camp of people is surviving...by eating people.

I am enjoying the hell out of this game... The dynamic Sauron's Army stuff is great... Running around killing captains, and dying a few times, is fun... And the one(/two) liners are great for immersion...

The combat is more fulfilling than Batman, maybe only because it includes chopping off heads and other kills... I know lots of people hate the QTE aspect, and the floaty combat, but I'm not sure how you can do 1 vs 20 combat without that, or a lot of OP AOE. I mean, OP AOE is a lot of fun, but if you consider games like the Souls series, you very rarely fight more than 2 opponents (because you're very likely to die : ).

Anyhow, highly recommended ; )

I heard there's one guy who sings/rhymes to you when you confront him. Gonna need to keep him around for awhile.

If you get around to it..shoot me a pm on PSN letting me know what you think after playing it for a bit. The reviews that are out today are pretty damn positive. I may have to rethink my initial plan to wait on this one. TB gave it the old "I can dig it"...and his reviews tend to parallel my attitudes toward gaming.

Yeah, I was bit surprised it reviewed so well. Happy, but surprised.

Maybe it's because I am almost 40, but honestly I have been looking at a solution that lets me play my PC from the couch as well. (And not on the TV.) I just want to relax when playing games now. 18 years of hunching over a desk to enjoy my favorites is long enough.

VIVA LA COUCH POTATO!

My problem is I support people and their hardware/software all day at the office, for the last 20 years. The last thing I want to do when I get home is fuck with my own hardware...all I want to do is grab a drink and forget the last 8 hours.

Porn. Oh, I misread, I thought you wondered what the guy was looking at. Not that it matters, it was porn in both cases.

Motherfucker!

Did you order it on PC or PS4? I want to know your impressions of it regardless, I was just curious. I have been leaning towards PS4 (not buying it for a couple of months) just because it seems to be a game built around playing on a controller and also because I don't think there will be much of a modding scene for it.

I grabbed it on ps4, as that seemed to be what all the streams were, as well as the reviews.

Surprised nin, I never pegged you for a console junkie. Why did you not get this for the pc when its going to be the better platform?

Honestly, I don't want to buy a new video card and a new power supply (and maybe more ram).

Since I got the ps4, my steam gaming has dropped dramatically...

That, and everything I saw running on the ps4 looked (graphically) awesome...

I hope that you have access to that firewall so you can unblock it.

I don't, I'm waiting for the nasty phone call for security, actually.

I think I googled "win 8 ISO download" one too many times and triggered someones attention (despite not actually downloading anything, and only going to toms and MS' site).

I loaded up a copy of Windows 8 that I got via torrent and updated it to 8.1. Then I applied the new key and it activated.

Why not just go here? Would that not work?

edit: Or the upgrade is here.

And here's how you create media.

The trouble is that those are for upgrades from a previous versions of Windows like Windows 7. Both links appear to be the same BTW. The method I used was for a standalone version. I installed it off of a USB flash drive. I prefer the torrent download because it only takes a few minutes.

I've been working in IT for nearly 20 years. Others will likely benefit from that though.

I had the standalone link and apparently lost it (didn't paste it correctly), and now going back through my cache, I've managed to get tomshardware blocked on the firewall at work. Weeeeee...

I've worked in IT since 95 as well, which was why it seems odd you'd go with a torrent over a legitimate download.

Oh, well, whatevers.
