Ok, that is bullshit.

To be clear, is it the full game, or just the multi?

NICE. GoG pulled through, they said they would get the '94 X-Wing and '95 TIE up and they sure did!
Just to be clear for anyone who doesn't know their X-Wing/Tie Fighter versions, the list is such.

X-Wing
1) X-Wing '93: DOS Floppy Disk - VGA Graphics (320x200), flat shaded polygons, dynamic iMuse MIDI music, both expansions released on floppy disk
2) X-Wing '94: DOS CD-ROM Collectors Edition - VGA Graphics (320x200), gouraud shaded polygons (uses Tie Fighter engine), dynamic iMuse MIDI music, balance changes (X-Wing is notoriously difficult), both expansions built-in
3) X-Wing '98: Win9x Collectors Edition - SVGA Graphics (640x480) with texture mapped polygons + optional 3D hardware acceleration (uses X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter Engine), static CD audio music, both expansions built in

Tie Fighter
1) Tie Fighter '94: DOS Floppy Disk - VGA Graphics (320x200), gouraud shaded polygons, dynamic iMuse MIDI music, only first expansion released on floppy disk (making the floppy version essentially incomplete)
2) Tie Fighter '95: DOS CD-ROM Collectors Edition - SVGA Graphics (640x480), gouraud shaded polygons, dynamic iMuse MIDI music, both expansions built-in
3) Tie Fighter '98: Win9x Collectors Edition - SVGA Graphics (640x480) with texture mapped polygons + optional 3D hardware acceleration (uses X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter Engine), static CD audio music, both expansions built in

The #2 versions (DOS CD-ROM) were not initially released on GoG; only the #1 and #3 versions were available. Today's update fixes that, as GoG is now releasing the DOS CD-ROM versions of both games to buyers.

Anyhow, the importance if this is that depending on who you ask, either the DOS CD-ROM versions or the Win9x versions are the definitive versions. So for some people this means the definitive versions have only just now been put up for sale.

The Win9x version is the newest version (fewest mission bugs, best balanced) and is much, much better looking due to texture mapping plus hardware texture filtering, and offers Windows joystick support. On the other hand because CD audio was all the rage in 1998 and MIDI was rather unreliable, it lacks the iMuse dynamic music, which a lot of people liked and really set the environment for some of these missions.

Many wonderful memories...

It was, yes. People seem to be semi positive, but I'm still skeptical (would love to be wrong, in this case).

I have a hard time believing stuff won't be on sale around May 4th, if you get my drift. Might want to wait...

Carmex? Defintely not Googling that.

Yeah, this announcement is over the top. I wonder if Tim would squirm if he read it.

Also, voice acting could be better.

I've not seen it lately, but last I checked, Carmex is lip balm.

I don't have a lot of interest in esports, but if it gets people interested in video games, that's fine with me. I will say that let's plays/previews/reviews/etc have basically become my evening television...guess it's all a sign of gaming becoming more accepted to the mainstream.

Bit of rumor mongering there, but it seems to also match up with the speculation that they're moving more towards gambling devices instead of (video) game development.

It would be really weird if this is how Konami goes out. Their trackrecord isn't spotless by any means, but they've also published/worked on some great games over the last 30+ years (memories of quarter after quarter into the arcade cabinet of Contra spring to mind).

Here's what's good and bad about this.

Good because Skyrim mods are still free.
Bad because the next game Beth makes will support the paid mod workshop (Fallout 4).

...

But it will be coming.

Yeah, I agree. All we can do is not buy it (the add ons), or wait until it's on sale.

We've done this because it's clear we didn't understand exactly what we were doing.

That's putting it mildly.

Glad they reversed. I have no issue with folks making quality work getting paid, but as it was implemented, it just seemed ripe for abuse. And yeah, it didn't seem very well thought out.

Maybe next time (shudder) how about just an optional donation button.

Yeah, I'm not wild about that, either. Hopefully it's a smaller part.

IIRC there's a tank in the trailer for the new Batman v Superman movie?

I would expect that, as they're borrowing from TDKR...

It's early.

Call of Deus Ex: Advanced Elysium Warfighter

Maybe that can get 3 more studios making COD games and then put one out every 6 months.

stop giving them ideas

Believe me, if they thought if was feasible, they'd already be working on it.
