The same here! I think most people wear pink glasses when remembering SS2. I remember breaking weapons which forced me to play half the game using a wrench, endless respawning enemies out of rooms with no way for them to enter

I turn both of those off...

Um, I thought Ken Levine admitted they had no idea who in the flark even owns the System Shock IP. Who in the world did Night Dive even acquire it from, THAT's a story I'd like to hear; was it on a piece of paper somewhere in some Lawyer's drawer?

I could have sworn Blue linked to an interview with the guys a month or two ago, but I can't find it now. Maybe I saw it elsewhere.

Here's something recent:

Meadowbrook’s lawyer wrote back a couple days later, saying the company had just secured the System Shock trademarks from original publisher Electronic Arts. Instead of pitching an entirely new game, Kick proposed rereleasing the originals. Meadowbrook loved the idea, and Kick and Banegas decided to turn around at the Panama Canal.

Mandatory Hulk Hogan character.

Personally, I just used one of the preset options like a bad person. One of my biggest fears in character creation is that I spend an hour or two mulling over my choices then put it together only to realize his head or nose or eyes are just a little bit out of proportion to the rest of the body when done and I have to start all over again.

NOT THIS TIME!

Yeah, I do the same thing...I spend the first night creating a character, and think "ok, I'm ready to go tomorrow!" And then I come back and think "Wait, that's not right."

I heard there's a plastic surgeon around this time...

I don't understand all the hate for the new Star Trek movies. I think they're great fun, well paced and well acted. They're supposed to be popcorn flicks, and I think the production team nailed them in that respect

I enjoyed them as well. I think the gripe is they're different, which I agree with (but it doesn't stop my enjoying them).

I've decided that how emotionally you're invested in something directly relates to how accepting you are of change. People cling to what they love with rose colored glasses, and any change or deviation is potentially sacrilegious.

At the end of the day, if you truly love a property, be it Trek, Star Wars, your favorite games series, etc...if you want that to succeed or stay relevant (to have people still interested in it, 20-50 years from now), it has to change with the times. I used to be wholly against that, but the more I think about it, the more I've come to accept it. Just because things change doesn't mean the previous material we loved is obsolete. The new material is just the latest writer/directors take. And you're welcome to ignore it and stick with what you love. But that doesn't mean that new take can't appeal to a new generation, and that they won't enjoy it.

Activision Publishing celebrates the success of Call of Duty: Black Ops III, announcing that the shooter sequel took in over $550 million in its opening weekend, and saying this makes it the biggest entertainment launch of the year, topping the cinematic launch of Jurassic World.

...and how many people asked for refunds due to the initial launch problems? Put those side-by-side and then we'll talk numbers.

I would think those would be a drop in the bucket, compared to multi platform sales.

You wouldn't be saying that if some company bought the rights to a game franchise you loved and then shit all over it. This game could have stood on its own as a new IP, but buying the name of a loved RPG franchise and slapping its name on your product is going to draw comparisons to the originals.

Times change, and so does what's popular and what people like. Getting pissed about it isn't going to reverse that.

Enjoy the classics and let other folks enjoy what they like.

Yes it is. Is it great? Yes. Is it amazing? No. "Very Positive" is an appropriate rating. If you liked Fallout 3 or New Vegas you'll like this iteration.

Once again, managed expectations. If you go in expecting the world, of course you're going to be disappointed. But if you go in looking for a good time...well, you could do a lot worse.

I have a coworker like that. Married to a guy for like a year or so, and all of a sudden one night he has some sort of brain aneurysm and keels over. And she was pregnant at the time.

Life is fucking cruel.
