Guys, I understand what a cameo is. They are usually done in comedies, or the way Stan Lee appears in the marvel movies. The "cameo-er(?)" generally has some considerably obvious frame of reference to the movie they appear in.

What I don't understand is how or why "Tom Cruise" makes a cameo in the star wars universe. It would be AWFUL. This is a considerably worse idea than say.... Jar-Jar.

Yeah the only thing worse I can think of is Tom Cruise as Jar-Jar.

But then Jar Jar horribly DIES, and it's a two-fer!

As much as I feel for employees who are trapped in a struggling company, I will never understand the "THE CEO STILL DRIVES HIS FERRARI TO WORK" complaint. If that's his car, what else is he supposed to do? Ride on a bicycle?

When you can't pay your employees? Might want to be a little less conspicuous.

So that'd be better somehow? Unless Crytek is a one-man owned company, company money (Crytek's money) does not equate to Cevat Yerli's money.

It implies he doesn't have money problems, while you haven't been paid for your work in a month.

It doesn't look good to the folks not getting paid.

How can a person with no ties to any of the other star wars movies or any project related to star wars have a "cameo" in a star wars movie?

A cameo is usually a brief appearance in a movie by any famous person.

Usually. Or sometimes a guy wearing a red sports cup (with a cameo by Lavar Burton!) (Ow!)...

Word up! I'm the guy from Cameo! Word Up!

I'm still trying to figure out why someone is screaming "get on your computer, then!" at :17...

Yeah, I wasn't planning on buying anything this sale (anywhere), and more of my money has gone to gog this time...

I luvs me some Cevat tears, but it really sucks the rest of the folks aren't getting paid. Favorite line:

One common complaint among staff is that the company has shifted gears from making big-budget shooters like Far Cry and Crysis to free-to-play games like the upcoming Arena of Fate and the unfortunately-titled shooter Warface, which bombed everywhere but Russia, according to three employees.

Early last year, Crytek boss Cevat Yerli told VentureBeat they planned to transition to making only free-to-play games, which worried a number of employees, even as they continued working on Ryse and the upcoming Homefront: The Revolution, both $60 console games.

Yep, FTP is the future, Cevat!

Yes, but the future of what?

Ask the guy who's company is hemorrhaging.

Why is anyone storing game design documents for an unreleased game in any form of cloud storage in the first place? It's not like the is the first time a cloud storage account has been hacked and it certainly won't be the last time.

I've seen dumber. A few years ago a local program developer was storing all his files on Megaupload and for some insane reason didn't have local copies or backups elsewhere. When the Feds shut down MU all his code was lost.

It was hilarious. Like a digital darwin award.

I've had users save shit in c:\temp. It was like their backup...until it was gone.

Also a heads-up for everyone -

GOG is giving out free games as part of their summer flash sales. Omerta: City of Gangsters (with 4 DLCs) is still free for about an hour (you'll need to scroll through the sale listings to find it).

Wow, thanks! I'm at work and wouldn't have found that until I got home (and missed it). Oddly, if you search for it by name like I did, it's listed as full price...but when you scroll down on the front page, it's free.

Thank you!

Glad they're doing refunds, as they should. They seemed rather hesitant over the weekend (one person on reddit reported getting a refund, but many others were told they were shit out of luck).

A Conversation With Wolfenstein: The New Order's Jens Matthies - Giant Bomb.

I'm glad they referenced the chopper (which I noticed) at the end of the credits. To me, that would seem to imply they went back for the character, and he didn't die.

REALLY hope they get to do a sequel. They're the right team, and did a fantastic job with the franchise.
