Considering it's the first mention of it here (according to Blue's search), I don't see what the problem is.

why make a spiritual successor to System Shock using Unity when you could use something nicer, like Unreal Engine 4?

"Money" would be my first thought.

All of them sound retarded for Far Cry.

Here's a thought, Ubisoft: How about you... I dunno, make a new IP? I think after 4 games, we've seen Far Cry. I really don't need yet another game with the exact same gameplay elements in it (though since it's Ubisoft, any new IP will really still just be Ubisoft the Game and be 30% AC, 30% Far Cry, 40% Gather All The Things)

Also: Set fire to your Kiev studio, as they are beyond fucking incompetent.

After Watch Dogs and The Crew, the new IP route didn't exactly pan out...

Much better pricing plan Sony. I can actually see many Playstation owners doing that, particularly those with families where multiple users with multiple gaming tastes are playing on the machine. It's a lot cheaper than buying everyone the games they like individually. Hell, if Nintendo offered something like this on a WiiU I would buy one today and subscribe immediately. I would prefer some sort of "Master PS+" subscription option that includes PS Now so I don't have to maintain two separate subscriptions...bet hey...that's not a big deal.

Not so sure that it's as attractive for single user situations.

I still think it's too high, but good luck to them.

But Valve getting a heafty cut of every game sold? Hardly, they're one of if not the lowest in terms of cuts on every game sold in all the distribution services.

30% to me is healthy enough when you have the largest share.

That also covers payment/billing, file hosting/bandwidth, patching, and matchmaking.

Of all the films on that list I liked Transcendence the most. It felt like a science fiction film. It made me think about a lot of things. It made me feel for the antagonist who actually turns out to be the protagonist.

I watched The Interview the other night and found it ok. I'm not sure if it's increased news coverage caused folks that might not normally watch it to check it out (and be disappointed) or what. But to me, it was in the same vein as Pineapple Express and This Is The End, both of which I liked.

BTW, where ya been??? You had a 3 year gap there!

better lineup than last year (haha i just wrote 'this year' before backspacing). i'll probably see all of those cuz even a middling wachowski brothers film is better than the talentless schlock we had in 2014.

I liked Cloud Atlas. They're a bit hit or miss, true. Their latest doesn't really look that great, but I'm totally psyched about this years movies (in general).

Can't wait for Star Wars mania this fall, too...doesn't happen that often (though it may, once Disney gets it's way) so it's always fun to watch people collectively lose their minds (legal disclaimer: I suspect I'll be one of them).

didn't know you were a fellow star wars devotee. have you seen star wars rebels? really, really good. way better than that clone wars nonsense so far.

Oh god, I grew up on that shit. My father bought me an AT-AT, in exchange for not scratching my chicken pox, many decades ago.

I'm waiting for Rebels on disc, since I don't have cable, but I'm excited about it. I enjoyed Clone Wars, for the most part, as well.

I'm come to the conclusion that how emotionally invested one is in an IP directly determines how accepting of change we are. And I used to be heavily invested in SW, only to fall out of it with the prequels and George's meddling (IE many CGI changes) with the original trilogy. And I'm to the point now where I accept that Star Wars has to change in order to grow and be successful. I understand that I may not like every new thing that comes out, but that in order for Star Wars to survive, it has to change and evolve with the times.

Getting the harmy cuts from a torrent really helped with this. I can have my Star Wars exactly as I remember it (and actually looking better) while the younger generation can have their Jar Jar.

In short, it really is true about "if you love something, you have to set it free".

Easy, people wanted AvP2, which was great. They got AvP...something...where the aliens felt like they were running through cheese. Unlike the nimble, quick, and overpowering bugs they were in the first two games.

This. 1000 this.

They lost me as soon as the predator only had certain points he could jump to/from.

Where is the harm in keeping it available on Steam?

Not to mention that even w/o selling it, steam still has to host the install files for people that already own the game.

Kids Movies Sport A Lot Of Murder.
That title and that article conflate murder with death. Kids movies do not have lots of murder, but they do have death. That's a big difference. Scar isn't murdered in Lion King, unless you're accusing the animators of "murdering" him. Here's the objective from the study:

Objectives To assess the risk of on-screen death of important characters in children’s animated films versus dramatic films for adults.

Are there any animated children's films in which someone is actually murdered? I'm trying to recall.

Bambi says "Hi!"

Charlotte's Web isn't murder, it's imparting the life lesson of "everyone dies, and your time will happen" which is a great thing to throw at small children.

edit: Animal Farm? Was Nemo's mom killed? Can't remember? The first 10 minutes of Up made me want to kill myself, as a grown adult.

And we won't even get into Watership Down, holy fuck!
