Thanks, Jade will be showing at the Xbox booth (booth? it takes up half of the hall =). It will be nice to go to E3 for recreational purposes and not having to work a booth this year. This way I can actually see some of the other games.

I have the game and all expansions installed.

2.8 Gig

That includes a bunch of non-game local files in sub directories. Not sure where you are getting 7 Gig from.

News Comments > Ghost Recon 2 Announced
28. Re: Show Weapon Apr 8, 2004, 19:29  CrushBug

To each his own, I guess. First thing I turned off in Raven Shield was the first person view weapon so that it looked like Ghost Recon to me. I do want to see my weapon in games like Quake, UT, etc. where you have 9 weapons to choose from, but for games like Raven Shield and Ghost Recon, where you only have 2, I find the view weapon to just be in my way.

36. Re: symptomatic fix Feb 5, 2004, 15:43  CrushBug

It means that we have never been able to reproduce the issue neither at BioWare nor at LucasArts (thats about 200 different computer and tester combinations or so).

Since we can't make it happen, we use the description of the issue to try and prevent/fix the symptom of the bug, since we are not able to reproduce or trap the issue in the debugger.

If you have a better suggestion on how to do this, I would love to hear it.

33. Re: Gamepad? Feb 5, 2004, 12:54  CrushBug

We designed the PC version of the game to use the mouse and keyboard, which is the predominant control scheme. We do not have any current plans to add in support for any joysticks/gamepads. The GUI just doesn't work that way.

Just because something exists in the Xbox does not make it a five-minute add on the PC.

12. Re: 25 MB patch??? Feb 4, 2004, 18:56  CrushBug

That is the 1.02 update for KotOR for English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish all in one. If you simply press the update button, you will get the specific patch for your language and version, which is about 7 Meg.

Man, oh, man, I played Harpoon the desktop rules and then went nuts with the first Harpoon on the computer (hell, I can't even remember what platform I played it on - Amiga?). I was really looking forward to this one. Sad Panda now.

News Comments > Star Wars KOTOR Beta Patch
16. Re: No subject Nov 21, 2003, 02:00  CrushBug

Mashiki Amiketo, I have to disagree with you that you say the sound issue is related to SecuROM. We are able to duplicate the sound pausing issue on executeables that have SecuROM applied and ones that do not. The issue with the sound pausing is related to the sound system that we used and the way we were playing certain streaming sounds. The Beta update (as well as the final update) contains a fix that no longer plays those sounds in that way. Considering that this is the fix, or you can up your FSB, and the fact that we can make the sound hitch happen without SecuROM applied pretty much says that the issue has nothing to do with SecuROM.

Interesting comments, Zep. I guess its not that big of a deal that there are multiple Star Wars games. Each title is being developed by a different studio, so its not like us working on KotOR affects Galaxies.

Not as such. If there is to be one, it will be coming out later. Not many working days left in the year.

37. Re: MS pay for exclusivity Nov 11, 2003, 03:08  CrushBug

I love reading that. I truly do. We have been hearing "MS payed you to do the Xbox version" for about 2 years and I would have loved for that to be true. The game was originally announced as coming out for the PC and "next-gen console" which we later revealed to be the Xbox. LucasArts decided (and we agreed with them) to release the Xbox version first, then take the time to redo the interface for the PC.

WHERE'S MY MONEY, MICROSOFT?!

35. Re: what took so long Nov 11, 2003, 03:05  CrushBug

The big thing was the complete redo of the control scheme to support the mouse and keyboard. Then throw in that you get up 1600x1200 rez support instead of the fixed Xbox rez. For that we also needed to upgrade a number of textures to look just right. Support for various video cards and their drivers. Audio card support. Then there is installers, config programs, launchers, autoruns, etc. that all needed to be build. Basically adding support for all things PC that you don't have on the Xbox.

We spent a great deal of time getting the abysmal spiral descent into mediocrity just right. Too much flaps and you'll stall. Too much afterburner and you will really dig a furrow in the ground.
