Please re-add the joystick support that worked so perfectly in NFS Underground 2 and all the earlier games that was ripped out for Wanted and Carbon. Please?

Ofcourse, Stewart got a million bucks for playing Richard the Lionheart for 1 minute in Robin Hood : Prince of Thieves

I thought that was Sean Connery, not Patrick Stewart?

Well, considering that we have never announced a release date for Mass Effect, its hard to delay something from an original date that didn't exist in the first place.

The date, as usual, is When Its Done.

Even following that link, I cannot find any information on the Winamp site that 5.33 exists. Everything there talks about 5.32. Hmmmm, maybe my cache is stuck?

So what you're saying is.. you keep those people somewhere else?

Shhhhhhhhhh! Don't tell anyone! That's what Ray and Greg have cooking up in the underground BioLabs. I keep asking for them to get working on human cloning so I can get some extra help around the office!

PHJF:

Thanks, that was a lot clearer the second time.

*Bioware* came along and started releasing, for $$$, what the consumer was supposed to be releasing for free.

I think that for free content, the 5000+ modules available at the NWVault speaks well to the power of the NWN community:

http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Modules.List

I think for free content, the consumer made out rather well. If you don't think there is any quality there, then you haven't played anything by Adam Miller or Stefan Gagne or any of the other top rated modules. Don't forget to check out Tyrants of the Moonsea or the also excellent Darkness over Daggerford. Both started as Premium Modules but ended up being released for free due to WotC/Atari shutting down the Premium Modules.

For saleable content for NWN, we have released 2 expansion packs and 5 Premium Modules. I wouldn't exactly call any of those a threat to free content, as most of the new content in expansions and the Premium Modules gets released for free in subsequent patches for use in the Toolset.

http://nwn.bioware.com/players/167/index.html

The Premium Modules have directly contributed to the continued support and the release of updates for NWN. 1.68 is the latest version and 1.69 will be coming out "when its done". The PMs have allowed us to keep releasing updates to NWN almost four and a half years after its initial release.

We did not make Shadows of Undrentide, that was Floodgate Entertainment. We did make Hordes of the Underdark, though.

Neither did we make Neverwinter Nights 2, that was Obsidian Entertainment.

Heading to bed. I will catch up with you guys tomorrow.

what you will be doing (in essence) is selling the full price game with little content and forcing people to buy premium content to actually play the game

Uh, no. There are no plans to do anything like that.

Maybe your view of extended content is different but this difference hasnt been fleshed out has it?

No, it hasn't, just like nothing is final in game development until it gets manufactured, but just like the Premium Modules for NWN1, we are far more interested in developing a more complete piece of content that extends the main game.

There is noone here at BioWare working on half a game or a full game that is going to be diced up and sold.

Didn't MS buy Bioware?

Heh, no, but I get to read that rumour once a year, almost like clockwork, for the past 6 years.

BioWare and Pandemic were merged and aquired by Elevation Partners. So basically, we all work for Bono now.

The Half Elf:

Man, if I had a nickle for everytime someone told me to take a flying leap...

The comment of "quit releasing tools" is an interesting one considering that we have only ever released a Toolset for 1 out of our past 5 major game titles, but I do understand what you are saying. I am not going to try an blow sunshine up your ass and demand that you believe me, but our view of extended content is probably a lot different than what you are thinking. We are more likely to do things like the Premium Modules as in making extended and complete adventures. We have no interest in either chopping up our games or selling you a $2 Emerald Green Lazer Pistol.

Dragon Age won't be a testbed for "Episodic thingie". That was NWN1. We still have no plans to stop making full games.

Beamer:

I have to agree with you. "Episodic" is getting to be a dirty word in the PC games industry. You have my word that I am going to stop using it. Not sure I have the authority to change Ray's use of terminology, though.

Actually, I really haven't seen or believed in any of the previous definitions of "episodic". I don't think that many of the supposed "benefits" were anything real and come more from the Marketing department, rather than the Designers.

Its probably best to wait and read the full article as opposed to the snippets, once it comes out.

We are still making full games. We are not interested in chopping them down to smaller pieces. What we are looking at is ways of extending them after retail with extended content. The BioWare Premium Modles for Neverwinter Nights 1 still sell well considering just how old NWN1 is.

Fair enough Loli, but then again, we have only had a publisher for it recently, so the ole PR ship is just getting fired up from here until January.

At the time I bought it, there was no platinum version.

However, Hordes was directly next to the Gold version.
Then, tragically, you were caught in the time between Hordes and Platinum. Sorry.

Except that every other GOLD version game I've bought included all previous material. It's totally my fault that they just decided to change the definition of "gold".
At the time we made the "gold" package, only the Shadows expansion exists. Hordes was under development but was months away from being done. I am not really sure what you expected as NWN Gold "included all previous material."

Once Hordes was out, Atari asked us to make the Platinum edition that "included all previous material" i.e. had Shadows and Hordes.
