Two years and they're taking another look at old information?

How about the latest WLs that show Israel and Russia exchanged intel on assets that they sell to each others' enemies? Israel sold software code that is on board UAVs that they sold to Georgia to Russia in exchange for software that Russia sold to Iran to manage its air defense.

Sn worked so well because IMO whoever wrote it had access to the complete source code for the equipment affected.

It all comes back to good old back stabbing & duplicity. "Cyberwar" is just the latest buzz word.

Isn't this problem that MegaTextures need to be compressed heavily on consoles? In that case, and I think this was ItBurn's point, isn't this going to happen again (and again and again until consoles ship with AAG 4GB+ VRAM)?

The folks citing compression are right on- there is now an option in RAGE to turn textures to "full on all the time" and it makes a very high demand on the CPU, not the GPU/VRAM.

PC people got screwed out of a decent texture pack, it's that simple. If die-hards are fortunate D4 will be developed for the XBOX720.

Konami and Capcom are both showing doubts about Sony's future in console gaming.

If I had a teenager I bet they'd rather have an IPAD than a PS Vita too.

Wow, I never thought I'd live to see Sony on the decline but here we are.

I had a Sony no-skip cd player that I used to run with and lost 80 lbs. I loved that cd player. I hope Sony finds something new/cool that I can enjoy again.

Got a GMG key before they ran out- well worth it.

For the morally outraged- I had better see boycotts of Sony and Nintendo as well because they do the exact same thing. I haven't seen a MGS or Mario title on PC in a long, long time.

Psyconauts- decent game, terrible marketing. I didn't even hear about it until it was put in a bargain bin sale on Steam.

Bwahahahahhaha!

Seriously though after the first couple of patches BF3 was very playable until the download-a-hacks took off.

EA better do something fast because SW: TOR is next.

When I saw that there were no cheat fixes in the patch I caved.

I finally bought MW2.

For $4.99.

Off of Amazon.

Then I plugged the activation code into Steam.

I figured since that might actually even cost Activision money it was OK.

I also paused the multi-player download. If I don't need it to play the SP game I may never install it.

Take that EA!

Yeah, you said it Cutter. The characters were so incredibly one-dimensional, the story was more retarded time warp drivel, the dialogue was mediocre at best. All this movie had going for it was the action, violence, and visuals.

"FIRE EVERYTHING!!!" (except J.J.)

ST is now venerable, pretentious and boring. JJA's characters were arch-typical caricatures of their originals, he didn't change anything- only bleached the property out and hung it back on the line.

I haven't been able to enjoy a ST anything since Babylon 5- which had self-interested characters developed far beyond fictional race-based traits.

And Farscape was at least pretty enjoyable, unpretentious dumb fun.

Then SGU at least learned something from B5.

ST is way, way behind. Heck, if they aired a new ST against Terra
Nova I'd probably stick with Terra Nova and TN kind of sucks.

as far as being able to make a half assed decent game. DOOM III for the most part is prolly their last good game. RAGE is a halfbaked Tech demo. A nice bendover they give their supporters. Thx iD.

Now that I've actually played Rage on PC- (picked it up for $20.00) after it was patched twice it's not so bad.

It plays better than Doom III- the action is much faster. I can understand people not being impressed with the gameplay in the context of games like BF3.

Tech 5 is impressive in the sense that it loads fast and plays fast all the time. In fact it's much, much faster than Unreal's engine. With the latest PC patch if you've got a high end machine you can pump up the texture resolution to full on all the time too. The character animations are are also notably fluid and varied.

I hope Tech 5 catches on, it has a great a deal of potential. I can also see why ID is getting out of the game development business.

No hate for ID- I hope they can license Tech 5 and place out their game people to the folks that use it.

Maybe you'd like to explain what you're talking about rather than engaging in ridiculous hyperbole?

Go look up China's "Great Leap Forward"- it's the name of a historical event occurring circa 1958, not "ridiculous hyperbole".

Everything the pinkos are doing has been done before, just in the last century no less. They're running the playbook to the letter.

To paraphrase Dennis Miller: "If we were up against Lenin, Stalin and Trotsky I'd be worried. But this is more like the Larry, Moe and Curly of communism so not so much."

NOW THAT'S ridiculous hyperbole but true regardless.
I understand the reference, which is why I called it hyperbole and asked you to explain wtf you're talking about. Obama is hardly a commie, he's so centrist that both sides are pissed at him. So yeah, you're gonna have to explain what he's done that make this just like what the Chinese did.

At this point you're ignoring the fact that Obama and the Dems passed a bill that threw up a bureaucratic wall between my Aunt and her blood pressure meds. If she didn't have me around to look out for her she would have gone without them and died pretty soon because of it.

There are many seniors out there right now that had their coverage changed with no notice and are not receiving the care they were before. This is by design.

For what it's worth- Romney signed a similar bill in MA so there's not much hope that the Republicans will really stop .gov from clearing out as many medicare dependents as they can without actually shooting them.

I'll call Obama a commie. The only reason the avowed commies are pissed at him is because they don't have the guts to start a civil war without the feds leading them and Obama doesn't have the guts to go full retard.

He may not be all the commie he wants to be but he's working on it every day. His buddy and mentor Bill Ayers is a huge freakin commie who lives in the only place in the USA where he's safe from his victims courtesy of the people of Chicago.

I'm done educating you. Take care.

Change the tax codes so everyone pays a flat 18% Across the board. That's fair isn't it? Democrats talk about fairness all the time. Everyone paying the same sounds fair to me.

More like 27% if you don't want to cut Social Security/Medicare deeply.

But that would be a step in the right direction- it will end all of the special interest provisions built into the tax code.

And for those rolling your eyes- 27% is a lot more than the capital gains 15% cap (18% is more for that matter). If anything, tax revenues will go up because the multi-nationals like Apple & GM will have fewer places to hide income.

If you're gonna bleed all over about the poor just print them off some more food credit for their WIC cards. They can keep buying cases of energy drinks for their cocktails before mounting their new pickup trucks.

IMO it's too late anyway but if someone wants to take a shot at plugging the gaping hole in the hull from the inside then be my guest.

Here is the Democrat's final solution:

Obama has prepped for our "Great Leap Forward" by dooming our seniors to an earlier grave.

Part of the Obamacare law that went into effect this January 1 was to stop paying for my Aunt's blood pressure meds- no notice was sent to her or her doctor, apparently my 92 year old aunt is supposed to read 25K+ pages of regulations and prepare accordingly.

It's as old as paganism itself- when the crops don't come in start opening throats on the altar of hedonism until everyone left is satisfied again.

The reality is, however, Capitalism is the least vile of all the economic setups out there by a fair margin despite how it has been perverted by greedy, unethical corporate entities and equally greedy and equally unethical politicians. So, in my estimation, any solutions will be far from perfect. Sometimes so imperfect as to be more damaging than the problem it was developed to solve (see the current Administration's incompetence for recent examples).

No. Capitalism is one of the most vile economic setups there is and it doesn't work in reality anymore than communism does. The extreme systems never work. What we require and works well for the countries that use it is a more social-egalitarian system. No one is saying you shouldn't profit from your inventions, hard work, etc. but you pay your fair share like everyone else which does not happen under economic extreme systems like capitalism and communism. It's like Goldilocks, not too hot, not too cold, but just right.

And for the record, most CEOs are out of touch to begin. They tend to have psycho/sociopathic profiles which is what allows them to walk all over people to get to the top and not give a damn about anyone or anything else. That's why these people need to be controlled.

I agree with the happy middle ground theory but socialism isn't it for me.

IMO the best way is this:

1. Government can destroy but not build (i.e. no redistribution of wealth).

2. Capital can build but not destroy.

Government makes a great negative (i.e. stopping airline crashes, fighting enemies, breaking up monopolies), but when you start letting it pick and choose who gets educated, who gets capital, etc. things go straight to heck in a hurry.

When you let capitalists run wild they tend to destroy competition by any means necessary which is bad for their customers.

Checks and balances...

1st paragraph: Beat that straw-man! I still won't pretend I don't know what people complaining about evil corporations mean when they say "we need change".

I hear "the rich are the problem" and "the rich need to pay their fair share in taxes" from a different person I know personally every week. I know where taxes go, I won't pretend that I don't.

Your second and third paragraphs just expounded on what you quoted from me. I agree with your criticisms of our times! REALLY!

But your equal opportunity utopia hasn't ever existed and probably never will. There have always been haves and have-nots and people that don't earn what they have.

If you come up with a new way to make it happen then I'm all ears. All the ways proposed to date have already failed.

Jesus teaches me how to live in spite of it all because his words go into my ears instead of come out of them. It won't matter what insanity follows.

That's enough for me today. Dibs on the top bunk in the FEMA camp!

So as near as I can tell, your only issue with my argument is that I don't subscribe to your apparent philosophy of, "If it's inevitable, just relax and enjoy it." Just because you believe it's inevitable, doesn't mean we should all just accept it. I don't believe we should, and I don't see anything wrong with trying to change things. It'll never be a utopia, but it could certainly be a lot better.

Meh, I didn't say that either but I will say that trying to change the whole world at once is a waste of time.

Just change yourself, and raise your children well I say. The only change I can force on others is the negative kind.

- gospel of thomas, 340 a.d.

The first time that quote appears in the Gospel is in Matthew 10:34- Matthew was a direct witness to the life of Jesus BTW.

Jesus was not a pacifist, he used pacifism as a weapon against the wicked.

Gandhi learned that lesson well. Some of his people died following him but many, many fewer than had died than in the Soviet Union in WWII.

What if all the employees of THQ store up some food and paid their rent in advanced for just two months and then walked out?

While I didn't see any mention of nationalization as an option in the post you were responding to, I think you put your finger on the issue here. One that's all too common in many businesses today. The top management is so ridiculously overpaid, and their pay is so disconnected from performance, that there is no effective accountability for failure, and therefore little incentive to get things right. They usually make out like bandits either way, and just blame other factors for the failure. A CEO can nosedive a company straight into the ground and still walk away with tens of millions in compensation.

Matshock wrote on Jan 25, 2012, 11:13:
PS if you ever lose your job because you screwed up can we take away all your property in order to punish you?
No, but I can't live off of my annual salary for the rest of my life either. I could easily do so with what one of these CEOs makes, even if I didn't feel like ever working again. Hell, I'll run your company into the ground for half of what you'd pay one of those fancy CEOs!

The generic term "change" is almost always used to describe some form of increased government control re: corporate management today. I'm not going to pretend this isn't the case to satisfy people playing obvious semantic games who are ignorant enough to think they're being coy.

The problem is not capitalism, if it were capitalism then you'd be working 90 hours a week and living in a company dorm like they do in China. Your quality of life would also be slowly improving instead of decaying.

I know most of you aren't doing that because the Frisbee golf course near my house is heavily populated by 20-30 somethings all day every day who are collecting 99+ weeks of unemployment checks.

The unvarnished truth is:

What you're suffering under now is fascism- the real meaning of the term is federally controlled capitalism as coined by Mussolini. Corporations and .gov are working together to screw you over.

The tall wall of separation many people see between their favorite politician and the corporation they hate doesn't exist. The Emperor Has No Clothes.

Now if accountability (punishment) is what you want- either full blown capitalism or communism will do equally well, either way a small group of the most ruthless will eliminate their competitors, they still won't give a damn about workers but you'll get to see plenty of suffering at high levels.

Don't ask me how to really fix it unless you want a bunch of Jesus.
