Eve is an entirely different beast compared to most MMOs. Where most will provide you with a large portion of the experience within a month, a month is a drop in the bucket by Eve standards with whichever path you chose.

I divert your attention to this classic graph:

D3 is also gonna be completely stomped by Grim Dawn (both graphically and in style from what is predictable), and Skyrim+mods for those who'd rather play offline and SP with a decent story.

I think you are greatly underestimating the fan base which Blizzard has built up in the Diablo series to pull out that type of card so quick especially when you are simply providing a visual inspection with no hands on approach for either title.

This is the first clue which makes me wonder if you know what you're talking about because Diablo has never been a title which pushes the envelop in the eye candy department.

Second, I've never heard of Grim Dawn but comparing Diablo to an Elder Scrolls title is also a little silly. While they both share a hack and slash system in a fantasy world, that's where they both take entirely different paths. If I have to explain why, then this is the second clue which makes me wonder if you know what you are talking about.

Third, modding, while popular was by no means the selling point to the Diablo series. Diablo 2 solidified its replayability by implementing the ladder system on top of an already extremely popular closed B.net multiplayer. While closed was plagued by duped items, it still retained a huge amount of players across the realms.

Fourth, the constant internet connection issues. Really? 2011 and people are worried about being unable to connect to a game which they likely spent most of their time on in multiplayer anyway?

Take your own advice in which you told me and stop being 'that guy'

Heres an idea, don't like it, don't buy it. The servers are gonna be much more pleasant without grumpy ranters.

SOJ and Rings of the Zodiac for trade! WTB Windforce. Diablo's economy was always a joke.

It depends on how you played the game but this is true for the most part.

In classic, the economy essentially became destroyed through countless pp SoJ duping along with several other items. While you could still acquire an item such as the SoJ through legit means, such as farming Andariel in Hell mode, you could also find some pretty kick ass legit items off Mephisto or be really lucky off a transmute from Charsi which you could trade for the duped items. Whether you liked it or not, SoJs ran the show in classic.

In the expansion, SoJs weren't by any means the economy. Well, they were, but we're talking a much more watered down value compared to their worth in classic because they would convert with the level requirement. Here, dupes were still worth a lot but regular unique items carried more weight but the true value was found in runes and runeword items. USEast also had access to Oculus rings which were hacked stats from the weapon placed on to a ring which was a hot item until ruststorm hit and wiped them out.

The only way you could really get a grasp on the economy (and I say this loosely) was to participate in the ladder but even though, there was a lot of shady business.

This is one of the big reasons as to why they want to make this title require a constant internet connection and prevent the economy from becoming a joke by holding all the key files on their end rather then placing them all on a users system and be open for duplication or hacking especially with their new real money auction house.

From my experience on the demo alone, I was impressed with this title and played it several times. The combat is easy to get in to, the dialogue is spot on, and it captures the over-the-top violence very well. While I am by no means a knowledgeable 40k super fan, it did give me the impression of being a Space Marine as I used them in Dawn of War.

I look forward to buying this title.

Did I see a WoW quest marker that lead to a 'go to x area and kill x mobs' quest?

WTF Blizzard!?!? Are you actively trying to sour my expectations?

Torchlight 2 is just looking so much more interesting at this point.

I'm not sure if you're trolling or not, but in Diablo 2 there were quest markers above an NPC to indicate that they have a quest for you. I don't think all of them had this as I think it was more for follow up quests but I remember it being a thought bubble with a "?" and they moved closer to you when nearby.

Secondly, a good portion of the quests in Diablo 2 revolved around 'go to x area and kill x mobs' quests. In fact, the very first quest you get asks you to kill all creatures in the Den of Evil. While there were still quests to explore and retrieve items, the majority required you to kill something. These quests existed in the first Diablo as well in quests such as The Butcher and The Skeleton King. One could say that the evolution of quests within Diablo is changing with each new title and, over used as those quests may be, having no 'go to x area and kill x mobs' quests would make one boring Diablo title since that's what you normally do anyway. How a quest such as this can make anyone moan and groan or be shocked by surprise has either never played a previous Diablo title or is arguing for the sake of argument.

Torchlight has these quests too, given by Trill to go to x area and kill x mob.

Bottom line, Diablo 2 came out four years before World of Warcraft so, if anything, World of Warcraft simply 'refined' certain elements found in the Diablo series such as the quests, interface, and talent tree. I know a lot of people hate Warcraft but think before you jump on the bandwagon to compare titles for the sake of bashing.

4. Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution Sep 2, 2011, 21:13 Wallshadows

I just finished my first play through of DE and was very impressed with my experience playing this game. I would say I cleared it in about 20 hours with minimal side quests on the medium difficulty but intend to play through it again with all the side quests, more exploration and a different augmentation route.

Panchaea was, in my opinion, easily the most enjoyable area in the game and gave this total System Shock nostalgia. It had tension, the location was beautiful, and the enemies were much more menacing then the typical baddies in the game. The only thing I expected more from was the last fight which was a little bit too easy.

Also, no melee weapons felt a little awkward.

I look forward to more!

The thing is is that the game looks like a lot of fun and I would love to play it in the upcoming beta. There is no question that I am a fan of the Battlefield series and it looks like this title would retain my interest with the amount of customization and the Frostbite engine.

The part which puts me off is that it feels like we are being thrown through hoops in order to get to that point to enjoy the game. Maybe their online system will be great, maybe it won't be, but what was wrong with an ingame directory with a tied in website feature?

As for Origin itself, it just feels unnecessary as a whole and EA is doing it just because they can. I'm not concerned about what is in their EULA.

Looks like a game that will sell a bazillion copies.

Looks like every other video ever released since the first Modern Warfare title.

How many times will people buy the same game?

I'm torn on this title.

While I feel as though DICE is doing what they can to bring the PC community a shooter which is worthy to our standards rather then another port, it feels like EA is really cock blocking everything else to make the PC community uncomfortable. By buying this title, it will give EA the impression that the community is okay with what they are doing which will enable them to do it more with future title and that is why I am on the fence.

Bottom line is that if this is how EA intends to dethrone CoD in this genre, they need to smarten the hell up and not piss off their fans the closer the game is to release. This was a day one purchase for me because BF is a great series but the more information they release, the further off my radar it becomes.

This looks pretty awful on so many levels that I cannot tell if it's even trying to take itself serious as a sniper title.

Most of the time when we do anything panda-related it's going to be a comic book or a figurine or something like that

They could pull a shattering and expect their community to buy a book in order for the blanks to be filled rather then explain it within the game.

So, I *accidentally* shot up the whole police precinct while on the way to the morgue and whatnot and suddenly I am the bad guy and get gibbed as soon as I leave the police station be it through the front door or roof.

I'm doing this wrong, wrong, wrong! Might have to restart the game and be less of a cluts when dealing with Sergeant desk jockey rather then to put a bullet in his head...

Update: Ladies and gentlemen, I have squashed that DPD nuisance and am now feared by all. I have won the game!

I just started to play DE and it's really a blast. However, what I find even more enjoyable is how much my friend hates it for all the wrong reasons.

First, he was roped in to this game believing that it's completely action where you can run in to a room and gun down all the baddies ala CoD but was raging when he realized three or four shots would kill you. The concept of stealth is non existent to him as he says it's stupid.

Second, he claims to hate the futuristic aspect of the game. I don't even know how this would be a surprise for even a newcomer to the series, but the idea of augmentations and the scifi nature of this game somehow caught him off guard.

Third, apparently it's too hard even on easy. This likely tied in with the first point and makes me roll my eyes.

This is something I figured would happen and will be the case with a lot of players who think like him and build their foundation on CoD or any other shooter out there. He jumped in with expectations from an entirely different monster, fell flat on his face and then calls the game stupid or bad because he has no idea what he's doing and unwilling to learn how to play.

I hope the combat is not a clunky mess and it's hard to tell if that's the case by this trailer. As long as it's not in the same league as the last AvP title which was plagued with predictable events, bean bag bullets, and retarded Aliens then it should be okay.

Bonus points for the lack of cross hairs though.

I remain hopeful but I'm a sucker for the Alien universe and will likely buy it anyway.

Anyone else following the information in regards to Ridley Scott rebooting/creating a sequel to Blade Runner? It's interesting that he can finally do that since I know he wanted to make another film set within the universe since the mid 80s but because Blade Runner was a box office flop, no one wanted to throw money at him.

I hope he can tap in to what made the first one so fantastic and it's great to see him take on the Sci Fi genre along with Prometheus.

This is more like the episode New Friends of Undergrads where Gimpy challenges Spud to a Quake Deathmatch.

Great series, by the way. Shame it only lasted one season...
