Error 37!

I have to say that the character 'Francis' pretty much sums up the forum rage on the best of days.

Well, like others have said, I feel as though there is a a great game buried beneath and it will likely take time before we are able to enjoy it for what it is rather than find ways to nit pick and voice our opinions about certain design elements.

I play it, I grind 5 NV stacks and punch Siegebreaker in the face, rinse and repeat, but I know there is much room for improvement both from Blizzard and with the game and I think that will start with 1.03.

20. Re: Diablo III Asia Downtime to Remove Duped Items Jun 11, 2012, 22:02 Wallshadows

The only way it could even be loosely considered duping is because you're continuously crafting the base item and it's impossible to craft the same item with the same stats twice or ever let alone 'over and over and over'.

I mean, if you watch the video you'll see that no two bows which they craft are the same and are so bad that you would have to pay someone else to take them. Hardly worth duping if they keep making those same items over and over again if they aren't worth anything more than the vendor price.

Not the same = not duping and I REALLY doubt they were throwing quality 600 - 700 dps bows on the market and making a killing and even if they were good, they're ilvl 62 which doesn't even put them as best in slot if they come out with an awesome craft. Heck, for comparison, Windforce is a ilvl 62 bow and it's pretty terrible but they both carry the same stat weights.

It's really that simple. Again, if there were REAL dupes/exact copies released to the public, this didn't provide seller that luxury and either Blizzard is exaggerating their findings or there is a highly exclusive, private method.

News Comments > Diablo III Asia Downtime to Remove Duped Items
16. Re: Diablo III Asia Downtime to Remove Duped Items Jun 11, 2012, 21:43 Wallshadows

I can admit that I was one who claimed these were not duped items but rather crashing a game to return to an earlier state in order to constantly provide materials in order to craft until a godly was made.

The link to cinemablend didn't show an exact form of duping because one of the two players who took part in this had their inventory reset after the game closed. The player who provides the crafting materials will have his inventory reset to still have the materials and the player who crafted the items will still have the item. You're not making two identical items, you're simply provided unlimited materials to make entirely new items.

For exact dupes, there would have had to be another method which was likely not released to the general public which is standard procedure for operation such as this and, either way, it's nice to see they cleaned up the AH even if just for a moment.

Either that or stop using the same email/password for every site they log in to which is how most players likely get their accounts compromised.

I know what you mean Creston and I feel as though it would be a fairly dangerous precedence to revive a HC character for those who have died to issues outside of their control.

While it is a risk and most of us may not even make it through Act 1 Normal without keeping the floor boss at bay; however, it feels like a giant cop out at the same time when you can be an incredibly skilled player and die due to server-side collision issues that may be nearly impossible to be aware of until it's too late. HC should be about the player's skill, patience, and attention to detail rather than get smoked by something you simply cannot avoid.

Without knowing how long or even whether or not this will be fixed in the future is simply up in the air and it becomes much worse when Blizzard is making little to no noise in regards to these issues and only addressing them if a certain number of complaints are made. If this is working as intended with their server-side infrastructure and little to no change is made, well, that's just bad news bears for those who stay for Hardcore.

Holy shit Wallshadows, I just saw those videos you linked earlier and wow. I can only imagine how pissed those people were, it's one thing to die in Hardcore to a shitty situation and quite another to die to a known bug.

Indeed. I've run in to my share of weird problems which have killed me without any warning so I wouldn't even dare step foot in Hardcore until these issues are addressed.

The worst part about this is that Blizzard seem to be burying their head in the sand when these are brought up. The player who lost his HC character in the first video is in a situation where his concerns are falling on deaf ears and that more people need to complain about it in order for it to be addressed or something along those lines.

Ah, found the thread.

26. Re: Diablo III Item Duping Hotfixed? RMAH to Require Authenticator Jun 11, 2012, 13:39 Wallshadows

The glaring issue with the auction house in a game like Diablo is that items are not bound to the character and everything (save for a few things such as staff of herding + materials) can be listed.

In WoW, you only had specific items which were either bought by grinding your VP for a week + or through lucky rare drops which created a bottleneck on the distribution of 'end game' gear through purchases.

The AH is all or nothing with little to no shades of grey and the only way Blizzard seems to have curbed the sale of gear is by capping the listings at 10 items per account and a fixed listing time after the five minute warning.

Depends on the quality. You can nab Act 3/4 gear which isn't bad for anywhere from 50k to 500k but the best gear is usually in the multi-million dollar range per item. Dropping cash on ilvl 60/61 gear found mostly in Act 1 and 2 is really just a gold sink so it's best to save a little more the expensive gear which typically has more generous stat balance.

For a Barbarian anyway.

There are already tons of AutoIT scripts and bots floating around out there to farming the chest in front of the Dye trader in Act 3 to Sarkoth in Act 1.

But to play devil's advocate for a moment, this wasn't really duping or, at least, duping as we know it in the Diablo world where you can just duplicate an item over and over and over.

What these players were doing is crashing the game after being unsuccessful with crafting a decent item from the BS (shocking, I know) and this method would allow them to infinitely have a crack at crafting an item since the materials would always be available but would still cost the crafting fee. They wouldn't be able to then duplicate the item once it's made or at least it's not implied or shown.

Meanwhile, I would like to direct your attention to this and this which are just...well...watch...

It's unfortunate because the longer this game has been out the more it feels as though the cons are slowly beginning to outweigh the pros. I'm going to hang in there till at least 1.03 though and see how it feels from there.

For me, I stopped going their when IGN bought them out. Now, it's just something to enjoy on the waybackmachine.

I especially liked the quote of the day/week...usually about Derek Smart.

Additional nerfs and changes:

Tyreal now hits for 1.2k and becomes a liability for Vampiric mobs.
The Loot Goblin on the Ancient Pathway in Act 2 is on vacation.
AFK farming in Act 2 has been fixed
A bunch of Resplendent chests have been removed in Act 3

However, it appears that all you have to do to cancel your auction after the 5 minute window is to simply rollback your system clock to when you put it up since it tracks from local system time instead of server time.

Yeah, I did that too and cranked out a Demon Hunter to help gear my Barbarian. The problem was that playing a glass cannon class really made me more frustrated than getting stomped in full tank spec by Fallen.

While I can appreciate the method of burning them down first it leaves a lot to be desired when ranged mobs and certain types of melees (Herald of Pestilence in Act 3) can attack you with what often feel like guided missiles or have an incredibly huge detection box. Hell, some mobs like the Hellflyers can sometimes just pop in without an animation and kill you!

Act 2 was an annoying gear check but Act 3 is a fucking nightmare of pussy Fallen hit-and-run tactics on 50% of the mobs.

In the end, I dumped my DH because it made me want to put my face through a wall and ended up getting my Barb to Act IV and 'working on' Rakinoth...
