I like how BF3 was upfront with all their gameplay videos and trailers whereas with MW all we get are edited ingame videos with drops of gameplay thrown in here and there.
Then again, if I want to see what MW3 looks like in game, I can go fire up the first MW... |

There are two movies called 'SPEED'. One has Sandra Bullock and the other is porn.
How can Bethesda sue for a partial name when other industries seem to be cool with it or even blatantly copying?
Does it boil down to lawyers being dicks? That makes the most sense to me... |

As far as commercials go, regardless of the platform, I thought it was great and gave me a pretty warm feeling as a gamer as opposed to all those typical not-so-serious PS3 ads which are just silly.
That said, it's funny how some can simply sidestep and take any opportunity to throw jabs at the console community with blanket stereotyping. I wonder how they feel about the PC community being stereotyped as being virgins living in their mother's basement by the console community or non gamers?
I'm all for PC gaming as I have been using a PC for that purpose since the mid 90s but, come on, part of the problem with this whole PC vs Console war are those who make asinine and generalized insults which perpetuates the never ending debate of hypocrisy. Sure, PC gamers can dish it out but when it comes to being stereotyped themselves by others, it's all the sudden bad and those who say it are stupid.
tl;dr: Stereotyping is bad and you should feel bad for doing it. |

1 came to life and committed seppuku, while screaming it was an unholy abomination. The kaishakunin was delayed so it had a slow, painful death and then defecated all over itself. |

Huh? He said he would only resign his position if he was on the verge of death. I think when he resigned most were expecting he had a month to live so just about right. Yeah, you're right, but I think it's more disbelief that it has actually happened in spite of the fact that he has been in poor health for some time and was inevitable to happen sooner or later. I guess later couldn't wait...
Maybe it has more to do with the fact that I found out on Blues when I accidentally hit refresh and noticed new news was posted and came across this so it really caught me off guard... |

Cataclysm grinding is kind of a hassle too but I find it goes by much quicker then Northrend (obviously less levels but larger XP gap). With the two BoA pieces to push between 80 and 85, you usually complete a zone such as Hyjal towards the middle to upper 82 really makes zones such as Deepholm less of a nuisance as you are there for a lot less time and can jump in to Uldum.
Usually, I iron our Hyjal > do half Deepholm > most of uldum > half of Twilight Highlands before I hit level 85.
Pair this up with a decent BG weekend and fast instances and I would dare say the grind from 80 > 85 is no sweat. When Cata released, I was on vacation and had a Redbull diet which allowed me to hit 85 in a shade under 22 hours so now with BoA gear it feels like a breeze where XP is practically handed to you on a silver platter. |

Northrend is the real killer for one glaring reason and that is the fact that, for whatever reason, they decided to only allow level 80s to get quests in the new zones whereas in previous expansions you could go in two levels below the previous cap.
Now, two levels isn't that much and you still have access to Cata items prior to hitting Cata content but it makes a huge difference that Northrend is the biggest stone wall in the game when it comes to grinding. It's slow, it's boring, and some of us have seen it so many times that it makes leveling an alt a matter of whether or not you want to regrind that dump.
Thankfully, if you ever manage to rope a friend in to WoW, you can make use of the triple XP and grant-a-level all the way up to 80 now which trivializes everything up to that point which is likely the next best thing to launch you right in to Cataclysm. Unfortunately, you would not be doing your friend a favor by recruiting them in to the game. |

Thanks for the links, Krovven.
I've played through the game with the stock configuration which still provided me with a great experience but I would love to try it out with those mods to squeeze out another fresh run on the campaign. |

I seem to recall a post on Blues which had rep from EA explain that there will be day one patches for this title so I would not be surprised if they let the game roll out as it is now and rely on a hefty patch.
You buy the beta and they'll give you the game for free. |

The only unfortunate circumstance to this story is that the man who did it was much older. If he had been the same age as the other kid, it would have been that much more awesome.
Also, Ant, I have no clue what your site is about or does when I visit it. Something about Ants and lots of links. lol
Care to enlighten me? |

What I'd like to see is a dynamic, open-ended Aliens game where you can freely explore the galaxy and investigate space stations, colonies, etc, where Aliens may be building hives. It would basically be X-COM, only under the Aliens mythos. The Alien universe could certainly take another route which strays from the typical shooter. Unfortunately, any hope of that went down the drain when the Aliens RPG got cancelled and we'll never know how it would have panned out in the grand scheme of things and to what degree those RPG elements would have allowed it to be a little more open.
I would love to see the Alien universe become just that: a universe filled with the examples you provided.
However, Fox has a notorious death grip on the license and it's actually surprising to see them give Gearbox this much freedom to not only use the Alien name but to cast Colonial Marines off as a type of 'sequel' to Aliens. Why they would give Gearbox, of all companies, this license and freedom really puzzles me but I have a feeling that it falls in to the realm of 'doing what we've been doing all along' which is to provide a typical FPS experience.
Pitchford can definitely talk the talk when it comes to this universe which may have caught Fox but whether he can walk that line is an entirely separate matter and, judging by the video, seems he may have a lot of explaining to do.
I would love to see a company such as CCP pick up the license due to their experience with creating a vast sandbox and have (or will have) experience shaping that sandbox to match FPS combat as shown in Dust 514.
That'll never happen though. |

I've seen people in the WoW forums ask for a refund when a server gets knocked offline for a couple hours when it's not Tuesday.
It's really funny. |

I'll likely still pick this up as the ravenous Aliens fan that I am. It will be interesting to see how much detail they put in the to the game in the form of easter eggs such as the map pointed out early in the video.
Also, is it just me or does it seem like there is a really, really huge auto aim box around the enemies after they drop the turrets and have a scrimmage? It looks like they don't have to be anywhere near the aiming bead and the bullets curve in to them which really takes a lot away from the combat. Drones are suppose to be fast and agile so by implementing auto aim in such a way makes the combat look a lot less survival and a lot more trivial...
In fact, the combat in general just doesn't look right. Something about it doesn't leave a whole lot of terror found in the original AvP/AvP 2 and is more in line with the new AvP which was plagued by awkward moving Xenomorphs and AI. Examples being that last stand off shown in the video where they walk by or around the player.
...Then again, this was done on the 360 so I am somewhat hopeful that sort of ez mode is removed in the PC version even though this is Gearbox... |
