jimnms wrote on Jul 7, 2012, 04:24: Playing with a large group is pretty much the only way to really enjoy this right now. I watched a live stream of about a dozen people playing it earlier today. They came across a few people camped in the woods. They killed a couple of them and the others disconnected. They had a shit ton of tents set up with all kinds of good gear in them. They stayed a little too long picking through the loot though because the ones that disconnected must have called their friends and they all got on at the same time and a big ass firefight broke out. Everyone got scattered and disoriented and they were trying to figure out who was friend and foe. In the end, all but two or three got killed, and one of the survivors had good gear (sniper rifle & cammo) was on a hill in the woods picking off people in the other group. I can definitely see the potential with this game when I play threw it and was pretty much blowing off steam from what happened.
Also, I don't know if it's the engine at fault or simply being this early in development (or both) but there are pretty massive clipping issues where I've become stuck either in walls or in the floor which forced me to kill myself through respawn even after deleting and creating a new profile. Another issue is that Zombies seem to be able to move through doors or pop in from the floor if you've been spotted and doorways and ladders are sometimes sketchy where you're not always able to go in to the room or climb.
Zombie and melee animations just make me scratch my head and laugh though.
As for this game, spoiler, they both live. |

Bumpy wrote on Jul 6, 2012, 21:52: Lots of games vying for the DayZ pie it seems. DayZ is kind of a bullshit game which gives you absolutely no control over your orientation unless you're familiar with the map and love to alt+tab to the online variants. Not to mention the ARMA II engine just blows my mind by how bad it runs/looks and the zombies remind me of Wheelers from Return to Oz but on crack.
Just threw two+ hours down the drain because me and my friend got separated while I was at <1000 blood so most of that time I was passing out and going through the excruciating pulsating screen that made me want to jam forks in to my eyes and because of this, everything about 50 feet from me was blurred. I couldn't tell the orientation of the church to use as a land mark and eventually a zombie went from 0 - 80 in .2 seconds, I pass out, and it kills me.
Without knowing even whether you're facing North, East, South, or West when you get turned around and with multiple paths to take, it's just ridiculous if you get separated for whatever reason (he went ahead to get food for me to get back some blood). I didn't even have the Sun to use as a guide because it was cloudy and we spent about 30 minutes playing guessing game until my death.
So now, it pretty much boils down to killing myself until I get the nearest spawn point which is still far away, solo-running for a couple hours, re-gear, and hope I can find an in-game map or compass to actually give me a general idea of what fucking direction I am facing so I don't have to waste more time with this shit.
I just hope this isn't one of those projects which stays in Alpha for what feels like forever because it really needs some big problems to be addressed or it'll simply lose its edge to another mod or even a full-fledged title.

In the mean time, I decided to drop money on Arma II + Operation Arrowhead to pick up DayZ and look forward to watching my PC melt before my eyes in performance. |

Yeah, I definitely got my money out of this title but it's a far cry from what I put in to D2 before I began to suffer from burn out. It's a shame and I'll keep an eye on how they handle patches but it's taking a back seat for various other titles until GW2 hits.
Maybe I'll get around to playing the DLC to Deus Ex 2 or finally pick up Skyrim. I'm way behind the times... |

They can buff, nerf, and add content till the cows come home but the fact of the matter is is that Diablo 3 is broken at its core and would require a complete ground-level rewrite to make it feel like a proper Diablo title.
Level 60 cap No ladder Inability to move between Acts without exiting AH/RMAH Nerfing mobs, events for the sake of the AH/RMAH Believing there should be 'end game' content when it was always about gear and smashing faces with little to no effort Class cooldowns Class balance to each other MF issues Four player co-op Seperate Arena-style PvP Always on DRM which actually does jack shit Lousy chat interface from 1996 Instanced/gated boss encounters Incredibly random loot even for class-based equipment Characters feel weaker rather than stronger as you progress
These are all reasons as to why I no longer play the game and would rather play Diablo 2. This game suffers from a severe case of identity crisis brought on by incompetent developers who tried to do it their own way and ignored a perfectly viable, proven structure for an ARPG which resulted in a half-baked experience.

This was my first introduction in to the FF series and it happens to be the one which left the biggest impact. I find that even though it certainly hasn't aged well in the eye-candy department, I still find time to play it from time to time and it still provides a certain level of enjoyment which is lacking even in modern rpg/jrpg titles.
Going on a date with Barret at The Golden Saucer is easily one of the most memorable gaming experiences for me.
...but this is a far cry from what I was hoping for and would like to see an actual remake. FFVII and Resident Evil 2 are really the only two console titles which would command my wallet to open up and empty the contents regardless of price if they were ever properly remade. |

Watch Athene beat every Diablo III boss on Inferno… with his eyes closed It's called having over 200k+ DPS on a Demon Hunter while being "funded" by fan boys. |

This is an older case where an item which sold, encountered an error, and never returned the item.
Customer support photos included that will make you cry out in agony.
Furthermore, this doesn't take in to account all the horror stories I have read in regards to players buying items off the RMAH with their credit cards only to find out that the transaction failed on Blizzard's end and they find themselves suspended from the RMAH for an undetermined amount of time.

That's a pretty fake trailer unless J.J. Abrams has a thing for reusing Alien Resurrection film between :28 - :33.
Don't worry though, I think I'm the only one who would notice such a thing. |

I'll be honest, I bought the Celestial Steed when it first came around due to impulse and felt awful about it after the first day. What was truly hilarious though was the fact that, next to the mount, there was a gauge to show you how many were left in stock which appeared to at around 75%.
They put a stock gauge on a virtual item...
Anyway, people wonder why the gaming industry is turning in to a nickel and dime scheme and this is the reason for it and I feel like a bastard for getting that horse which I no longer use. Ever. |

Blizzard made sure to derp the game into oblivion before releasing D3. What I am amazed with are how far the bots have come since I last played! Bots will make a Baal run, invite you automatically, portal at the Throne and you just sit back and watch the XP bar climb. Game ends, rinse and repeat.
So, pretty much how I remember it but with people. |

Signed up for the hell of it although I wasn't sure what to put as my processor since it's an unlocked AMD B50 quad core so I guess AMD Athlon or lower?
Owell, we'll see how it goes anyway. |
