You can stop the game from dialing out to the EA server looking for updates by altering your HOSTS file.
add "127.0.0.1 servserv.generals.ea.com" to your hosts file (without quotes, file is located at c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc )

I ran into a problem with severe video lag when running an NVidia card with a multi-monitor setup. In case anyone here reading this has the same issue, the fix is simple.
Goto Nvidia control panel > manage 3d settings > multidisplay/mixedgpu acc
Set this to "Single display performance mode"
You can set it globally, or just when running Fallout3.exe
Had to do the same thing with Quake Wars: Enemy Territory as well. |

Glad to hear it's still being worked on, I'd given up on it a long time ago.
NS1 was one of my all-time favorites, next to Tribes 1&2.
Didn't read the article cuz I'm lazy, and ETA on release? |

I don't think you understand JayDeath....
The crack you are talking about is for the StarForce protection scheme, which the US version DOES NOT USE. It does NOTHING for SecuRom, which is the protection the US version uses.
So the crack is useless if you actually bought the game from an American retailer like you said you did. |

Yeah, the patch out there works.
The "patch" is a crack for the RUSSIAN pirated version of the game, it's not even for the US version of the game...
No wonder they banned you from the official forums. |

I hope someone make a mod for this that tightens up VATS and make the game more tactical.
Hopefully they actually release that damn mod tools. As of now, there is no official word on if/when it will even happen. |

InBlack: There isn't a working crack for Secrurom. The crack is for the Russian version which uses StarForce.
CrimsonPaw: Settle down little girl. I buy games too, but I am not going to pass up an opportunity to play a game like this almost a month early. Sorry that makes you so angry... wash that sand out of your vagina and maybe you will feel better. |

It DOESN'T feel like Oblivion with guns???? That's news to me. It feels EXACTLY like Oblivion with guns to me, and everyone else who's played it that I've talked to.
That doesn't mean it's a bad game, I've been playing it on the 360 for like 3 weeks. I liked Oblivion, but it definitely DOES feel a lot like Oblivion with guns. |

Are people still playing this? I was really pumped about this game, and ended up only playing it for a few days before I completely lost interest.
In retrospect, I wish I hadn't pre-ordered 2 copies of it, and just stuck with the pirated version. |

I've been playing it for the last 3 days on the 360 (about 10-15 hours in-game I think), and it definitely does feel like a condensed version of Oblivion with guns. That said, I liked Oblivion well enough at first, and have been enjoying this so far too. I didn't follow any of the hype before now, so I didn't have huge expectations.
It would have been nice if they made it a little larger, and added some more variety to the world... I dig the whole post-apocalyptic wasteland theme, but the brown and grey color pallet and the identical buildings/rubble piles everywhere you look can get old really quick. Everything looks the same, not a lot of variety to the environment. At least in Oblivion when wandering around above ground, you could get a good idea of where in the world you were by just looking around. The "dungeons" and different areas are starting to get pretty repetitive, and I imagine it will get even worse as I play it more. It suffers from all the same problems in design that Oblivion had, but it's still a fairly entertaining game in my opinion, as long as you don't go into it with unrealistic expectations.
I'm excited for the PC release, and the mods that will surely follow to make the game seem more "complete". It's sad that it takes the modding community to make the game truly enjoyable, but it is what it is. Was the same with Morrowind and Oblivion.

I'll jump on this for the PC.
PC Gaming owns Console Gaming
Always has, always will. (in my opinion anyways)
Although I will probably end up using one of my Xbox 360 controllers on the pc for it, since they rock. Ironic, I know.

EAStore is the biggest pile of shit website I've ever had the displeasure of using. It will seemingly at random not let me login, telling me my password is incorrect... and then I have to shut down my browser, delete all my cookies, jump through some hoops, throw salt over my shoulder, and then pray and try again.
I asked them to cancel my pre-order after putting up with that shit and trying to login for nearly an hour without success... and finally after having to email them several times they told me they had canceled my order... only I still see it there a month later, meaning they have not even canceled my order after all.
EADownloader isn't much better, that piece of shit app.
And charging you extra to have the ability to re-download your games in the future?!? What a crock of shit. I'll stick with Direct2Drive. They are a decent company who doesn't treat their customers like shit.
It's such a shame an awesome developer like Will and co. are stuck with EA as a publisher. If it were any other game, I would have said fuck it a long while ago.

"Nefilim I think the way you come across in some of your posts seems like you're defending the excuses pirates use to pirate games, even if you don't mean to."
Probably.
I'll be frank, like most of the people I know, I pirate a fair amount of software. For the PC and for the 360/Wii. The majority of them I download simply because it's easy to do so... Or it comes out on the net before I could buy it legally in the store or online. Sometimes it's even easier to pirate a game/app then to actually buy it, due to crazy DRM shit limiting the amount of installs, forcing you to activate it online, etc. I know it's not right, but I do it anyways.
That said, I actually do BUY all of the software that I find myself using for more than a few minutes, the rest get deleted and forgotten. I'm not going to kid myself and assume that I am in the majority here though.
Most of the games I buy now are via digital distribution. That's one of the best ways to combat piracy in my opinion. Piracy will never be eliminated, anyone who thinks so is delusional. But making it easy to buy via the net, and without all the stupid cd checks and painful DRM shit is the way to go.

I did what now? Maybe you should re-read my posts and not jump to conclusions. I am not defending or advocating piracy, nor did I ever say it wasn't wrong. Just pointing out some of the reasons why people DO pirate.
