theyarecomingforyou wrote on Mar 25, 2010, 05:16: The problem is that DRM mostly affects the users least likely to pirate games. And pirates just download a crack that bypasses it all anyway. I've never understood why publishers like to piss off the few people still buying their games. executive meddling, the same thing that ruins every other media. detached corporate "management" bureaucrats act on the behalf of completely clueless investors who don't know shit about what they've sunk money into, aside from demanding "do whatever it takes to keep the cattle from stealing!!"
it's not like one or even a handful of people make this decision. corporate bureaucracy has resulted in a long chain of highly paid known-nothings trying to pass responsibility to someone else. nothing gets done and horrible decisions are made.
christ, i don't miss that world. |

| fear 2's combat really paled next to the first one, namely because the fucking god they had coding ai got another job in the interim between games. otherwise i thought it was pretty decent, definitely worth the 20 bucks i paid for it. fantastic atmosphere, they really honed their craft between fear and condemned. the ending made me feel dirty. rather looking forward to round 3. |

do they still pay lip service to this in europe? seems like this is an ambulance chaser about eight years late to the accident.
the last instance i can even recall in america was the shocking coverage of MASS EFFECT - ALIEN SEX SIMULATOR three years ago and even that was a blip. i imagine too many people own x-boxes now to risk calling gamers disgusting monsters anymore. |

| isn't the projected release for this like fucking 2011? it feels like fucking carpetbombing, the amount of media they're releasing for something so far down the pipes. |

| i recall reading they only even produced this to fund their continued development of their doomed mmo. this license really deserves better treatment. rescind it from these douchebags and hire a real company already. |

thank god, i was afraid "red eagle games" was going to develop it in-house and fuck it up like "cheyenne mountain" is doing with the stargate games.
i would lay nations to waste for a game set in the age of legends/trolloc wars/conquest of artur hawkwing. just don't fucking follow the main characters. please. no more path of neo. |

i never really cared about this issue (still really don't) until i played the andrew ryan part of bioshock or the "no russian" level in modern warfare 2 (yeah, i never gave a shit about it until it came out, never heard any of the "controversy").
those two parts, being forced to do something i found kind of repugnant, made me react in a visceral, considering way that i can't recall any movie ever really evoking. that was when i decided that yes, for me, videogames reached the next level. |

| violence in games has become a total non-issue. the incredible mainstream acceptance of the xbox and playstation have really brought gaming out of the shadows. too many people play video games for the moral panic of oldheads to matter anymore. does anyone even remember who jack thompson is? |

i was really conflicted about who to pre-order from, but ultimately the fact that gamestop somehow allowed themselves to fucking run out of collector's edition pre-orders online decided for me. they got them back in stock but it was too late.
i rather dislike this fad anyway. the collector's edition items i got for dragon age were so good i never used anything else my whole game, and that's kind of retarded. |

a lot of his ideas about sharing concepts and tying in game elements with the movie and vice versa are cool, and were first adopted by the wachowski brothers with "enter the matrix". it really took tying gameplay directly into movie scenes to an incredible level, and exclusive footage in the game was awesome too.
enter the matrix is still pretty fun, if rough around the edges. |
