Risen 2 will actually be Gothic 4. This is just Gothic 3.5 and has nothing to do with Piranha Bytes.
risen 2 will be gothic 5. risen was gothic 4. the story even picks right up after "a dark wizard cast the gods out of the world", it's hilariously blatant.
this isn't gothic 3.5, this is deceit and lies.

I think that they are rushing it so that they can keep the rights to make it. For some reason the judge decided against Bethesda. (Copious bribes?)

they've been "rushing it" since literally 2004.

I have a choice as a customer? Crazy thought...
if you're still using your moto razr, sure. i don't know of any current major carrier that lets you activate a smart phone without a data plan.

your imminent "choice" as a customer is to be extorted, or not use a smart phone.

i've been thinking for two years that this belief that "cloud computing" is the future is fairy tale shit at best. tiered pricing is the future and at the moment the rates are price gouging. 200 megs a month? i've gone over that with my droid just running software and app updates for fucks sake.

oh, good to know these crusading children are making the world a better place.

"anti-cheat out of the box" is an especially horrible idea, the implementations are always half assed or invasive. and if you're valve, there's always the chance you get banned and never know why because it's no questions asked, thanks for your money, feel free to register a new steam account. i think that's something better left to third parties.

games don't get made for pc users anymore. that sucks, but it means the shit on this list is a thing of the past. which is too bad, because i fucking hate matchmaking.

oh no, look out verno! he said it's only a game and you need to get a life! he can't be beaten!

I'm fairly certain that their use of "an historic" just triggered my violent vomiting a few minutes ago. I now have broken blood vessels in my cheeks.
good to know i'm know the only one. recently people have started adopting this wholesale because the english do it and therefore it must be proper! in america, we actually pronounce our H's.

add that to the list of conferences gizmodo is banned from. they were banned for life from CES for walking through the conference in 08 and shutting off presenter's tv with a tv-b-gone while video taping it. and yet they still insist they're "journalists" and should be protected by shield laws after buying a stolen iphone.

i'm really liking alpha protocol so far but if i had to choose, it would be mass effect 2 purely for fit and finish, so to speak. me2 is a very high quality production.
it's too early for me to say for sure but i'd say alpha protocol fits the bill for obsidian. ambitious design and substandard mechanics.

Stop dishing out money to welfare recipients vs. raising taxes.
yes, of course, let's blame the poor. always the poor's fault. you'll never have to rely on social programs anyway, right? that's just for lazy people.

george bush doubled the national debt. taxpayers were going to have to pay the price eventually. i know it's easier to cry about it, reneg on our debts, expect government officials to work for free, but you got what you voted for with george bush.

besides, taxes are currently at their lowest in years. obama froze them at a recent low when he took office. 47 percent of americans didn't pay any taxes at all to the federal government for 09.

i know it must feel great to hate the black guy but try reading about his policies and realize that you're probably going to benefit from them.

"However, Google has held back on launching the facial recognition technology more broadly. It was not included, for example, in the Google Goggles product, launched last year. This allows people to search for something on the internet by taking a picture of it on a mobile phone."

yeah, i should fucking hope so. for that to work, they'd have to be maintaining a database somewhere of names paired with facial data for the program to poll, considering google apps do everything in the cloud.

google thanks you for this data, civilian. google assures you they will only be licensing access to this information to federal agencies.

hitman has honestly been my favorite movie translation to date. i thought it was very true to the character, the plot was suitably hitman (some nonsensical crap in eastern europe) and the action was very servicable. and olga kurylenko is unbelievably hot.

max payne's trailer looked incredible and i had high hopes for it but it's pacing was all over the place. it had a lot of great ideas though (i loved how they handled valkyr and it's effects). too bad there was no vlad. and olga kurylenko is unbelievably hot.

I think the series has been milked quite enough. One game is fine. We didn't need two expansion packs, a sequel, DLC for that sequel and now another sequel.

the only monolith (and, to me anyway, that means the only ones that actually matter) fear games we got were 1 and 2. i feel like 2 is a pretty natural extension of the plot, and the dlc was intriguing. the core monolith property is pretty tight and self contained, i think.

it all feels very much like a trilogy to me, unless you're going to try to convince yourself the end of the first game was somehow not left open. but unfortunately we'll never know what was supposed to happen since we're getting another third party perseus mandate shitfest (day 1 just does not have the pedigree to produce fear 3. oh, they're getting john carpenter to help them. that's great.

i'd love to know what's going on at monolith that allowed this to happen. are they really working on something better, or did their corporate masters pull the rug out on a good property yet again?

a guy who no longer gets involved with the technology he co-authored rings in on the debate? nice.

i rolled my eyes at that too but he does make good points about apple's attempts to bend the internet to their proprietary designs. they apparently changed their developer terms of service to specifically prevent flash apps from being developed on the iphone.

though he probably has his own agenda, i'm sure, i find myself agreeing with his points. proprietary doesn't do anyone any good. anyone not wearing a suit and attending apple shareholder meetings, anyway.

News Comments > John Romero Interview
16. Re: John Romero Interview May 19, 2010, 19:32 Nucas

There are far more fucked up and unhealthy relationships in this world than railing on Romero's marriage.
hey, if you say so.

anyway, romero takes the view that modders should pursue a course that soley constitutes free value-adds to strengthen developers, that they're "supposed to be helping" them. says who? fuck that. modding a game is an efficient course to pursue your own creativity and agenda. his comments are incredibly condescending.

the ESRB as an organization is either too incompetent to understand that games can't be judged for third party content that must be actively sought out, or are too spineless to refuse reclassification in the face of ill-informed controversy. in either event, bethesda can blame the ESRB for being incapable of properly exercising it's responsibilities. while i would agree that "nude mods" are rather pathetic i feel it's entirely secondary, just a smokescreen to the actual aforementioned issue.

romero has been taking shots from the sidelines of an industry he left in disgrace for years. he has no right to criticize the work of others. he may have been a great support designer at id but he's capably demonstrated he doesn't have what it takes to carry a team, manage a company or design a game by himself.

In the end his life has been 10x more interesting and successful than the ass-hats that just talk trash about someone they don't even know.
right, right.

not for the first time. zuckerberg has stumbled in various directions over the years in his desperate bid to monetize facebook. i still recall a few years ago when they attempted to stealthily change the terms of service to claim ownership of all photos and updates users posted. that didn't last long either when people caught on.

played it, did you? are.. you sure? in my experience, people who say "LOL FROGS" never did, since they were a rarely encountered enemy in the first episode (of 4, but.. i'm sure you knew that. right?) only, but it was a popular point for THE INTERNET!! to parrot.

i bought it at release and enjoyed it. also bought copies for my friends when it quickly plummeted to 5 dollars, since it has a competent co-op implementation (though we still havn't actually finished a full game)

i like daikatana and used to respect romero until his behavior became outlandish and offensive.

that last one, his railing against modders as "screwups" was when i realized "hey, maybe this guy is an asshole after all".
