News Comments > Blood Bowl: Chaos Edition Announced
3. Re: Blood Bowl: Chaos Edition Announced May 4, 2012, 12:55 wallace321

Agreed - i have the "Dark Elves" edition, but this is the 3rd or 4th time they've done this. I have no plans on buying another edition, but I might have paid $2.99 for a new stadium, or .99 for a new race. Is that seriously all they keep adding in these new editions? A few races? A new stadium? A new mode? Can these different editions play against each other? It's a cool game, but honestly, these additions are DLC for a single product. All these different editions are confusing.

I've just gotta add this as a reminder, in case there is anybody with influence, shareholders, whoever it is that keeps pushing asinine DRM, is reading these; DRM only affects legitimatly purchased copies. The cracked version, once available, will be downloaded by pirates sans working DRM leaving only legitimately purchased copies with any form of copy protection. Ergo, only people who BOUGHT the game will have to deal with it. Rather than treat them like thieves, why not be thankful they bought a copy in the first place?

The gift I got was Hoard - of course I already have it so I'd be happy to trade it if anybody is interested.

Someone got Quake 4? Seriously? I bought the id complete pack at one point and I don't even have that. Is everybody getting games they already have to encourage gifting/trading?

might as well play this since Diablo III aint coming out for the next 3 fucking years at least. F*** Blizzard

I whole heartedly agree! Blizzard should have utilized the SVGA supporting engine created for Diablo II in 2000 to create Diablos III through X without (hopefully) changing core gameplay very much through the last 10 years. After all, it sold well so clearly it was good enough. We could very well be anticipating the latest chapter in the Diablo saga right now, Diablo XI: Dungeon NYC, if it weren't for Blizzard's short sightedness and lazy programmers. Oh i hope it has launch day paid DLC consisting of hats!

I cringe every time someone complains about the lack of split screen Coop on a PC title. Seriously, why the hell would anyone want to play split screen on the same pc? Go buy the fricking Console version if you want that shit.

Here here! QFT! Well said! I demand fewer features in PC Games as well! rabble rabble rabble! Additonal features demand more disk space leaving less room for pornography!

News Comments > Valve Looks to Steam Power Your TV
13. Re: Valve Looks to Steam Power Your TV Feb 28, 2011, 14:01 wallace321

I'm not really sure what the point is? So I can hook up my PC to my TV and play Steam games... on my TV? How exactly was I UNABLE to do that before Valve came up with this... whatever it is?

Try to use steam on your 17 - 24 inch display at HD resolutions from 5+ feet away. Now imagine a screen twice the size at twice the distance away; it's about equally as impossible to read and utililize.

Now Google "10 foot interface"

That's the part that can beneifit PC gamers immediately. You can now control Steam from a gamepad on a bigscreen TV from a couch.

The next step (if I may be permitted to read a little into what they are saying here) is to integrate an iTunes-like media market, content streaming, media center capabilities, etc directly into Steam.

I, for one think, this is fantastic!

Ahh, good play china. The old "think of the children" ploy will let you get away with just about anything. I'm suprised the RIAA hasn't tried to "save the children" from music downloading and mix tape making. that's certainly what everybody is trying to do with violent videogames.

Oh, and two things about the video and Michael Pachter

1. In regard to his answer to the very first e-mail; from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man

A straw man argument is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position.[1] To "attack a straw man" is to create the illusion of having refuted a proposition by substituting a superficially similar yet weaker proposition (the "straw man"), and refuting it, without ever having actually refuted the original position

2. He said "flamer" - isn't that now (and always has been) the term for a flamboyant homosexual? LOL! Fail at being hip.

I wonder if even anyone at Ubisoft is so dumb to agree with Pachter. Why should it make us a thiefs if we dislike this DRM? Thiefs crack it and simply don't care, only legal customers are upset.
Great way to insult those customers while proving that he is a douche, well done Mr.Pachter.

QFT

No gamer should care about properly executed DRM, if it protects the game from piracy and does not cause issues for the end user in the daily use of the game.

Reasonable gamers understand the need for sacrifice in the form of loss of some flexibility in their games/gaming habits (eg internet connection requirement for single player, CD-Keys, sign in to various online service and the accompaniying user names and password issues, loss of ability to resell, limited product activiations, etc...) if necessary in the name of helping developers protect their product and make money from their efforts to fund future games.

Smart gamers are fed up with listening to crap from PR clowns like this guy; about how they're saving the industry with DRM when the only thing that should be obvious to everyone is that no DRM has ever worked. EVER. Pirates download DRM free copies of "protected" games (and they would have done the same thing if it originally had DRM or not) while legitimate customers pay for crippled versions, and the sacrifice of ANYTHING on the legitimate gamer's part is insulting and pointless as it isn't accomplishing a damned thing.

And anybody who says anything to the contrary about DRM probably works for Ubisoft or Electronic Arts.

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter, who offers thoughts on the topic in his Pach-Attack videocast (thanks VG247), saying he likes the system, and if your opinion differs from his, you are a thief:

Oh, so he's like most Blues readers whenever I've brought up the subject in the past.

(for the record: Steam DRM I dont even think of as DRM. THAT is good DRM. I don't like DRM. Own 196 games on steam alone. I am NOT the enemy.)

This is only done through Nvidia cards, right?

2 Nvidia cards, one being for Video the other being for Physx?

The stand alone PCI Physx cards are no longer supported?

Actually, the "bystanders" put their company's name/URL in the video. So people who search for "transformers 3" end up seeing the URL for a company who did not pay to be associated with transformers 3. I don't think this is as bad as it looks.

13 trees?? Here and I thought we've been getting pisspoor manuals for PC games (even complex simulations) so publishers could save a buck.

You know what uses a lot of energy? The servers that have to run in an air conditioned server room 24/7 so people can play their UBIsoft games.
