you don't think updates for the browser will be kept up to date in xp?
"Legacy OSes have reached their zenith with the addition of IE 6 SP1," Countryman said. "Further improvements to IE will require enhancements to the underlying OS."
Given the abovementioned quote from the article, no I don't think there's any chance you can get whatever browser Longhorn ships with if you're still on XP.

Nah, better switch sooner than later people!

Just in case anyone actually believes the crap Inquirer spews out, they have posted an apology for this very shitty article and its flawed nature.

here's one Opera dev on the issue: http://my.opera.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17384#post118262

Fixes:
Removed 'CD-authentication failed' messages on clients.
Fixed bug in weapon system causing network overload (unable to spawn, unable to change weapon).
Possible to specify alternative network config files when starting server. See MP-README.txt for details.
Fixed a spawn bug preventing players from sending new spawn requests if they were initially denied spawning.
Fixed problem with being thrown out from the terrain when sliding.
Fixed limiting of view-angle when lying down.
Fixed bug that left one player with no weapon when 2 players simultaneously tried to pick up a weapon.
Fixed Mission Complete credit, always showed server local player in listen mode.
Fixed so dead players don't stand up where they died if respawning while they are in the death sequence.
Fixed so weapons don't get stuck some times with autofire after dead.
Fixed so bomb don't explode many times with laggy network.
Fixed so players can't fire while disarming bomb.
Removed player-corpses' knife-slashes which killed other players.
Added the display of servername to score-screen
Enabled players who join after Obj1 is completed to disarm planted bomb.

Mostly MP fixes I guess. But as a workaround for crashes in the SP part, you might want to try disabling EAX.

The isonews thing is not a joke.
Indeed it's not a joke, but it damn well looked like one. Things like using isonews' own logo on the announcement page just made it seem a DNS hack

The DoJ's anti-piracy section must be damn imbeciles. With isonews' main perp in custody, they surely must have had the possibility to gain access to the server!?

I haven't tried the 5 betas of GetRight, but v4.5 is definitely not spyware.

I read what was on the site, but couldn't figure out whether this beta was for MP, SP or both. Does anyone know?

Whatever the majority is, that's what a virus will be written for. Right now, that happens to me MS.
I think it's worth to note that Outlook is by far the number one reason for virii spreading in recent years. No wonder the Windows platform is the most attacked one.

I don't know Eudora intimately, but does it automatically run scripts, etc?

Also, I've seen it execute style sheet :hover style even when the text isn't a link.
a:hover applies to links. When just using the :hover pseudo class, it applies to everything. So, Opera does what is expected.

So what do you think of it? Much of a speed increase?
Not much of a speed increase from previous betas, but definitely a speed increase from v6, atleast for me. Some people will say different, atleast regarding v7 beta2 ( http://my.opera.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9387 ).

A note: the new interface might put off some people who doesn't like "fancy" UI designs, but there are skins availiable to remedy that.. (from http://my.opera.com among other places)

"preview" ? Jan 23, 2003, 13:19

ActionRealm's IGI 2: Covert Strike Preview offers hands-on impressions of Innerloop's upcoming stealthy shooter sequel.
Actually, it seems like all he got to play was the recently released IGI 2 SP demo. So, more like a demo review rather than game preview.

"Exclusive screenshots" ...

It seems like the gameplay is going to require that MP is done in TEAM strategy instead of Rambo style gameplay.
Aye. IGI 2 is probably best enjoyed with a group of friends who can manage teamplay. Seems like people playing on various random servers forget or ignore the important team aspect of the game, and rather charge in on their own, kill teammates, or worse yet; save up enough money to buy the Barrett then goes to snipe in a faraway hillside.

btw; using your satellite map is crucial regarding spotting enemies, especially snipers. Nothing is more delightful than finding a sniper on the map, finding a route to him, then blast away at his back with whatever is at disposal

I hate multiplayer only demos. It offers no practice, no learning, no nothing, NOT EVEN BOTS!
This is not a demo, it's an open beta. An MP demo will be released in February.

btw; SP demo next week.

I have to say the T3 trailer disappointed me a bit.
Well, I'm expecting T3 to be a totally crappy film, so I was in fact somewhat impressed

The conversion was done by the work of volunteers who have worked hard over the course of these ten months. Conversion of the game DLLs have almost been completed, and we are now focusing on fixing conversion bugs in the source code.

Why...?

hate decending into being negative or having a go at others

Even though the contrary seem to be the case? If someone has a conflicting opinion and a lacking argument, just don't reply.
