52. Picture Guy Mar 17, 2004, 14:32 theAntiELVIS

Why is this guy in such a bad mood? Or is he going for that Zoolander "hot" look? And why is he always alone? Could it be because his hobby is taking pictures of himself?

So many questions....

52. Coffee and Heroin Feb 6, 2004, 20:27 theAntiELVIS

You coffee addicts are as bad as junkies talking about their works and the best way to cook a spoon.

Me, I got a Coke can on my back. Coca-Cola, much like vodka, is best served at just above freezing temperature (although vodka won't actually freeze, of course). And the cans should never be stored at above about 80 degrees F., otherwise the amber nectar inside will take-on a bitter taste. Likewise, colas do not improve with age - it seems like the sugar crystallizes and the "caramel" flavor becomes too strong.

38. Re: Punkbuster sux Jan 24, 2004, 14:04 theAntiELVIS

How about the init failure bug. Y'know - the one that kicks you from a server because PB can't decide what to do, so it errs on the side of "you must be a cheater"?

I agree about a server needing to be well administered. This is why I avoid servers with "subscription admin" setups. When the admin is a cheater, they protect their cheater friends (Admin Federation is rife with this).

PB is better than nothing - that doesn't mean it doesn't suck. It would be good to see some competition in this market. Maybe someone can come up with a system that will automatically kick the wall hacks and aimbots.

10. Punkbuster sux Jan 24, 2004, 01:47 theAntiELVIS

It has bugs up the ass, and it does nothing to stop the two most prevalent cheats: wall hacks and aimbots.

Look at SoF2 - it has Punkbuster, and almost every server is loaded with wall hacks and aimbots.

Until something is done about these two forms of cheating Punkbuster will continue to be a failure.

God help us, hype has reached the stage where every line of code is now "technology".

8. My theory Jan 9, 2004, 12:32 theAntiELVIS

Ahem ahem. My theory, which is mine, is that all skinny people were planted here by aliens to demoralize the human beings and thus make their invasion plans easier to realize.

So you see, there is no mystery about how your ancestors survived the ice age - they arrived here after that.

9. I love this kind of stuff Jan 5, 2004, 15:52 theAntiELVIS

"...lacks the depth, weapons, levels and A.I. sophistication that will be present in the official demo"

So they sent it to the press so they could review it and tell you it sucks.

Why would they put out a press demo with no depth, weapons, and crappy AI? Because they aren't particularly bright?

2. Everything has its place Nov 16, 2003, 17:01 theAntiELVIS

For those who can't afford a massive budget to make a film, machinima is a good option. But of course it limits the range of subject matter.

It's simulating actors that doesn't work. No matter how good the simulation is, it just doesn't cut it. The eyes don't focus, the small subtle movements are lost. And of course, there's none of the improvisation that can make a bad script a good one.

But simulated stunt people are a good thing. Look at the stunts in things like the last Star Wars movie, that just couldn't have been done any other way (didn't rescue the crappy script, though). And computers are bringing back the Big Scale Epic genre, which died after the early 1960s because no one could afford to build the giant sets and hire the thousands of extras required. "The Scorpion King" would have been impossible without this stuff.

Everything has its place.

You dress your dog up in funny costumes?

And you've decided to change to a fireman because you want the dog to be comfortable?

It's nice you're worried about his physical comfort, but what about his emotional well-being? I mean, what if other dogs find out he's got the kind of owners who dress their dog up in funny costumes?
