Let's hope that Cryptic doesn't get their paws anywhere near this, despite some of the rumors tying Cryptic to a NWN-MMO.

Letting Cryptic work on this rumored NWN title is tantamount to urinating all over the DnD IP.

Having them involved will not begin or end well.

I got into the Sins of a Solar Empire beta right about the time I got a copy of the Original Sword of the Stars. I need to go back and visit it again. Sins + Expansions are brilliant but I seem to remember there being a lot of factional diversity between factions, including weapons, mode of travel, etc in Swords.

Swords certainly didn't come off as a "bad" game with the limited time I gave it.

50% off? Sounded intriguing until I realized it was Ubishaft.

Skipping due to Ubisoft DRM Boycott.

There was another day one "patch" for Silent Hunter 5 and I fully expect there to be one for Splinter Cell as well as Assassin's Creed 2.

Ubisoft just doesn't get it. Their DRM was gone in lass than a day. Paying customers are seriously inconvenienced, sales are lost and the DRM is already non-functional for anyone who chooses to download a community-generated "patch".

Ubisoft's lost sales and lack of good will towards potential and/or paying customers really "cracks" me up.

Spec Ops was REALLY good stuff back in the day. Knowing 2K they will take a great memory and make it a DRM-laced, consolitarded fustercluck.

I will be waiting and hoping for the best.

Will give it a go. As long as it doesn't break DoW2 or FO3 then we are all good in the 'hood.

Doesn't look terrible or great, just kind of average and CnC-esque. Sadly I probably just lost at least one activation by even viewing those screenshots.

Hopefully EA learned their lesson on the DRM front this time. Hated skipping the last CnC game.

Great news on this. It is a good move and may result in Ubi getting my hard earned ducats if the game isn't total rubbish.

I can't help but echo some of the other sentiments posted here; In the wrong hands this "gesture of good faith" could be horribly twisted into some sort of social engineering ploy. For now I will take it at face value and with a positive light.

Here is hoping the game doesn't suck. Being Securom free automatically makes it a win. Might buy it on principal - seeing as we skipped Spore, RA3, FarCry2, etc. on the inverse principal. LOL

Should be good times. WW2 is getting a bit tired for me, but the CoH engine is great and is a big improvement over the CnC/WC/SC formula. With DoW2 being on this engine and with Relic's track record I have big hopes for this expansion. Pre-order outbound.

This was already on the "skip without question" list for me thanks to the hyper-invasive DRM. Now they have crippled the controls?

Nothing to see here, moving along....

This latest batch of quotes tells me pretty much everything I need to know about Mr. Riccitello and by association his current employer.

"I'm guessing that half of them were pirates, and the other half were people caught up in something that they didn’t understand."

I understand the issues that effect me perfectly, thank you. Perhaps me taking the time to evaluate the impact of what I install on my PC and my desire to leverage first-sale doctrine is somehow being misconstrued as piracy or ignorance?

Some self-reflection time may not be a bad plan at this stage of the game sir. Blanket-labeling of potential sales with terms like "pirate" or "didn't understand" is not going to win many points with patrons and/or your shareholders.

EA is on the skip list moving forward; DRM or Not. If I were a shareholder I would be **pissed** with the company's direction since Spore and DRM-gate.

Sure hope you are right m8. I don't want PC titles to fail. I just don't want console-centric rubbish laced with toxic DRM. The videos I saw look hopeful. Hopefully Suckitrom won't be making an appearance here.

Good lookin' out with the video suggestion.

Will be taking a pass on this. Not only do FPS ported from console to PC have a terrible track record but this is EA we are talking about. DRM. Until I hear otherwise I have to assume Securom, Rootkit, limited activations and all the other unpleasantries that have plagued their releases as of late.

**edit - FPS/TPS or basically titles developed in parallel with a console in mind. Not to say they are all rubbish but the ones that turned out the best were released at different dates and given time for PC-centric improvements. Fable PC as an example of the good, DX:IW or Oblivion without mods as the worst case scenario.

Copy Rejection...err... "protection" strikes again. I have bought every release put out by Relic (Homeworld, IC, DoW, CoH) but this is pretty frakkin' ridiculous.

DRM has been removed from the Witcher Enhanced Edition as best I can tell. The original Witcher used Tages copy protection. Installing The Witcher EE Patch asks you to prove your registered your CD Key on thewitcher.com website, not unlike Steam or Impulse. Post-install there is no copy protection or DRM present that I have been able to detect.

Take what this guy says with a grain (bucket) of salt on the issue of Gold Sales. If you did not play Mythic's last offering (DAoC) they had a plague of "Buffbots" or secondary accounts that were botted characters specifically geared towards buffing a player and unbalancing PVP/RVR. These characters were not actually played as a live character and were equipped with gear/skills that would make for an unplayable experience as a normal, live character. They would park in safe/unreachable areas and buff a player or players to unrealistic levels making a 1v1 or a 4v4 fight more like 2v1 or 8v4.

Mythic did not take this supposed moral high ground at the time; Not only did they turn a blind eye initially but they later released a patch allowing multiple instance of the game client to run on the same PC thus becoming enablers for rampant cheating.

For Mr. Jacobs to stand up now and climb on some sort of moral soapbox is disingenuous at best and a slap in the face to anyone who was there and disgusted by his company's past actions.

Be wary of this guy and his product, especially after aligning with EA.
