Wow! Apparently lots of people want to be dicks to their fellow man, kill them, and steal their stuff.
I unfortunately know enough people in the realz that if there was hunting license for people they'd be on it. And not for revenge on someone you don't like, nope just the sport of it. It's amazing anything works.
ImO
Exactly. It has been said that DayZ is a realistic simulation of what will happen if/when society breaks down (probably without the zombies though). I for one would rather not be reminded of it.

I completely disagree. Some of the nicest people I know in real life are hardcore griefers in online games.

If you think video games are an accurate portrayal of how people would behave in real life, you are advocating the same argument as people such as Jack Thompson, and others like him who want to ban video games for ridiculous reasons. Can you not see the double standard?

I think you are misunderstanding. The game is set up as sort of a no rules sandbox and the players are loosed in it to do as they will. Given that I think it is telling that the first instinct the vast majority of the game's players is to kill every loner they come across. That is undoubtedly an accurate reflection of what would happen in the event of a real societal collapse. Placed in an environment without rules or boundaries invariably brings out the worst in people.

I think you are underestimating the human animal here. Humans are a social animal first and foremost, if you take a look at most of major the major catastrophes from our past history you will find that most of them have brought human comunities closer together. In our time of need we look to each other.

Sure the crazy prepper with an arsenal to last him 1000 years and a nuclear bunker will probably spray you with bullets as soon as he sees you, but you gotta take into account that this is exactly what he was waiting for and hoping for his whole life. Most people will just want to survive.

I for one cant see the new Star Wars films as turning out as anything other than pure shit. Even if Lindeloff doesnt get withing 20 miles of the script we are missing the one important player who is simply the pivotal turning point of the first three films, erm the first six films that is. Without Darth Vader, Star Wars loses like 90% of its charm.

Jesus Christ some of you guys are insensitive pricks. I agree with the sentiment that its rude to text and use your phone in the theatre but no one deserves to get shot and killed over it!

Should I mention the fact that the old cop got up and went to look for the manager (read, went to get his gun) before the fucking thing escalated even further.

So they just took the Tank gameplay mechanic and rolled with it?? Very strange choice, I would have a loved a new (not Zombie) game in the same vein of L4D but 4vs1 seems kind of crap, at least on paper.

Lot of hate on GRRM. The guy has written five (long) books and I've loved every word of it. He can have all the time he wants.

He's 65 years old, so how much longer does he really have? If he plans to write 4 more books to finish everything, and he takes 5 years per book, I wouldn't lay even odds that he ever makes it to the finish line.

He has stated that he wants to finish the series in 7 seven books tops. It was supposed to be six, but then the he had to split book4 into Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons.

Ah ... Blues News! What happened to you? You really have become to PC gaming what that bitter and twisted "No Mutants Allowed" people are to Fallout. Two and a half pages of whining and not one positive comment. Reality check: You all sound like a bunch of self-entitled little bitches. GROW UP!

Well all I can say is FINALLY I can get to play this game as I wanted to play. It may be late in the day, but at least I now get to play.

A solid 8.5/10 attempt, a lot of you guys fell for it.

Yeah, at the rate he is going he is likely to end up in the dictionary before he ever completes that damn series of books.

"Procrastinate" - To put off doing something, especially out of habitual carelessness or laziness. To postpone or delay needlessly. What George R.R. Martin does with 99,99% of his time.

What a clusterfuck EA made of this game. Offline mode is a good start but doesn't really fix the game being designed around smaller city sizes due to underpinning online functionality where none was necessary.

Im pretty sure that the real reasons why the city sizes was as small as it was were threefold. As you said the underpining online functionality is definitely one of them but more importantly the total clusterfuck of the actual so-called simulation that runs undearneath the 'purty' would become much more readily apparent in a bigger city. Thirdly, dont underestimate the draw of the mighty $$$. Why invest time and money into making a quality game when you can invest less in marketing and end up making the same profit??? Corporate Busines Practice 101...

George better get writing, the show is catching up with him fast. Especially as the fourth and fifth book describe events that happen mostly in tandem to each other but from different viewpoints. Personally I dont see it happening. There is no way that he can finish the series before the show catches up with him. He could persuade the producers to go overboard with the costs and get the show cancelled I guess...

I prefer desktop PCs but its a rapidly shrinking market. I can't think of a single person I know in the past 3 years who replaced an aging desktop PC with another desktop. Everyone seems to be opting for laptops or tablets

It's sort of sad that we've advanced so far in power and efficiency but all people want to do is look at cat videos and post pictures of their dinner.

I will never willingly give up on my desktop, there is simply no better alternative for doing anything worthwhile. Laptops are slow and a pain in the ass to maintain/upgrade, although they have their uses i.e. mobility. All the other stuff at this point are basically just toys.

Higher resolution & clarity version at Vaya's Vimeo page:

That was impressive - particularly the Mustang in the desert. The water needs a lot of work though, way too viscous. I quite like what they've got going on in AC4 for water.

That Mustang in the desert really made me want to see an updated Interstate 76 game.

Oh fuck you man. Fuck you for bringing up memories of that fantastic game....

I dont see how ATI trying to up the ante by bringing another API to the table so that developers have the option to develop on it is somehow inducive of the sky falling or some such catastrophe??

Do a little research people before throwing feces around. This isnt PhysX, this isnt simply a driver update. Its a whole diferent API which is supposed to circumvent the bloated fuckshow slowass piece of shit which is DirectX.

Sure it might all be a bag of cocks for all we know, but at least the option is on the table and developers can choose to support it or not.

*disclaimer* I own an Nvidia card just in case anyone wants to accuse me of fanboism...

Thing is, there's always been the option to code for OpenGL, which also means that your engine wouldn't be tied to a Windows platform, and would make it easier for a game to be compiled for Linux, or any other number of platforms that support OpenGL (which is almost all).

True dat. But OpenGL is on par with the slow as fuck DirectX and maybe even a little slower and its significantly harder to work with.
