SWEET!

Think I am going to read the books again that are sitting in my night stand before the new game comes out. Witcher lore is pretty damn solid.

Also, if you read all the books, Geralt is not always the main focus. The books are amazing if you guys haven't picked them up.

One of the few games out there that is based on a reward winning fantasy novel(s)/short story collection, that was translated into something like twenty languages, THAT DOESNT SUCK. The bold part is very important. Very few games out there that do the source material justice....

Another question, should I maybe sell the free eagle I got, and upgrade my sidewinder with the proceeds? Is that viable? (Or stupid?)

Also what is the D-scanner used for and why does my Sidewinder have it but the Eagle only has something called a basic scanner? (and it wont deploy)

Sorry for the spam, but Im intrigued by this game and the Elite Dangerous forums are a bit of a mess truthfully.

Ok some impressions from last night, also some questions:

Got the eagle, did a couple of simple drop off missions. Easy money. Then I decided to take on a pirate hunting mission. It sent me into a neighbouring anarchy system, with 0 planets, a large star and two small binary stars orbiting it. There is literaly nothing in the system. Flew around for a while, found a number of unidentified signal sources, all of which turned out to be some regular trader types, 'clean'. No sign of pirates. After a while a "system security vessel" shows up. So I say fuck it, Ive been flying for half an hour. Lets kick some ass! I open fire and we start to furball. Fast forward 45 minutes later!!! Yeah the fight took 45 minutes! The guy hardly scratched me, but the pew, pew with the basic pulse lasers on the eagle seems to be very very weak. So a couple of questions for you beta leet players:

1. Is the mission bugged? Why are there no pirates in a system which is supposed to be swarming with them. (Anarchy system)

2. How do I recognize which combat mission to take, and which is suitable to my level of weapons and equipment. Some missions pay 150k and Ive seen some that I can take that pay 300k! What gives?

3. What do you recommend I should upgrade first? My ship? My weapons? The powerplant? And how should I go about earning some cash for that. Should I trade first? Ive already figured out that I can fight quite well but my weapons are so pittifuly weak that it takes ages for the target to drop shields and then ages to finish them off.

Ok really stupid question. But how do I dock? I finally found the station where my Eagle is docked and am at a loss as to how to dock without provoking a lethal response. How do I get docking permission?
In the left side menu under contacts select the station and ask for docking permission. Sorry not sure what that menu called because I just look at it and it pops up.
Also I would advise you to do some of the basic tutorials before jump into the game to avoid some frustration.
The station will give you the permission if you are within range (under 7km) and give you the number of the platform where they want you to land. Ones inside the station look for the number and land.
See if this helps: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weAoY7kw2NM

Ok thanks for that. Got the eagle, managed to complete one animal meat delivery mission. Gotta try some of those tutorials I guess. Thought they were the same as the combat demo, thought wrong...:)

Is there any way to enable the mouse in the cocpit menus? I was struggling to bind keys from my joystick, the whole binding system is a horrible mess.

My first mission will be "Find your pre-order Eagle". Apparently its an agile and very lightly armoured fighter, thats music to my ears. So its just like a tie fighter, basically a flying space lazer! PEW PEW!
That's why you need a TrackIR or a Rift. I just look at the menus and they open up then use the buttons on my joystick to navigate them.
There are keys to bind each of the 3 panels if you look under options. There are at least 200 gazillion key binding options from menu navigation to flight controls targeting and all the different functions of your ship like silent running lights cargo door etc etc.
You can not use the mouse to navigate those menus though

Full TrackIR + Saitek X52 HOTAS + Saitek Combat Pedals setup here. So Im good to go

Ill have to fiddle around options a bit more and bind the menu keys to a hat there I guess.

Downloading as we speak.

Just curious IB since you have had this game for a while why that particular issue was not brought up during beta?

Seems like this is a major issue that should have been addressed long ago.

Nope. Wasnit in the beta. Just pre-ordered about a week ago. Otherwise for sure would have brought it up. The biggest annoyance right now is not really knowing which button is which on the joystick, you should be able to press a button (or axis) on a jostick and the options menu should jump to that command.

So are they taking the Postal games down too?

If one of those 'talented' journalists working at [insert gaming rag of choice] were to make a connection between Postal and this game and call them out on their hypocrisy, they might. I wouldnt bet on it though. The first Postal game was done more than a decade ago, and in gaming terms that might as well be ancient history.

Yes it might. Especially the way it was all blown out of proportion by the US government and the mass media after the events of 9/11. They sure milked it for all it's worth. Still, conspiracy theorists were around way before 9/11 (remember the Xfiles?:)) and after seeing him post on a number of subjects Im reasonably sure Littleme falls square into that camp. You might as well try to convince a Jehovah's Witness that the Bible is not the literal Word of God.

Ok I just pored over their website and the features of this upcoming game. I cant test the demo since I dont have a DK2 (TrackIR FTW). I have a few questions, perhaps those who are following the game's progress could help me out.

Will the game work without an Oculus once its released?

You turn your head in order to aim, so it could work with TrackIR I think, but you'd definitely need some sort of headtracking. This game is built for VR though. It would be a lesser experience on a monitor.

Im sure it would. Im also reasonably sure that CV1 will be released by the time this sees the light of day. However they will be shooting themselves in the foot if they create a game that requires a rift. This kind of thing killed the space sim genre back in the day, and the games back then required a much less expensive peripheral than a VR kit. (The joystick)

(by punk standards: the best bend ever)

ha no fucking way

Do tell...

first of all, its by your standards.. you dont speak for "punk" in general..

but id put Chrome and Devo up top.. Black Flag and Subhumans as well.. Misfits and Exploited for style points i guess.. Crass and Fear rounding it out a bit

plenty of punk bands much more "punk" than the fucking clash.. they are a great band, but hell no they arent "the best band ever - simpsons guy"

I was actually speaking in pure musical terms, regardless of genre so we are in agreement here. Musically the Clash is more post-punk than punk and their music is much more than three chords through blaring cabinets for the mosh pitting masses. While I appreciate punk as a movement, it contributed very little if anything to the evolution of rock and roll. This is my opinion and as such feel free to disagree with any and all parts of that I wrote.

Oh and before I forget. It would be almost impossible to have a controlled demolition of a tower that you're purposely crashing an airplane into. If thermite or some similar was used you would have no way of guaranteeing it wouldn't be set off prematurely by external factors. You also would have little control over where the plane itself crashed, flying at those speeds into the side of a building is not exactly a precision event and we already know the planes were legitimately hijacked thanks to evidence provided by passengers.

The idea that the government somehow knew about the attacks, got inside ahead of the events and knew exactly where to place explosives when the terrorists themselves didn't even have this info until the relative last minute is frankly preposterous. That's without going into the impossibility of keeping a conspiracy this large with so much organization needed yet so many victims. Victims who would have family and other ties to the supposed conspirators, ensuring someone would speak up.

I think I've given this fantasy enough attention, a lot more than it deserves. I suggest you move onto more credible and legitimate problems related to the government, it's not like there is a lack of them to pursue. There is really no need for children's theater with tragedies.

While I applaud your efforts I fear they are wasted on Littleme and his ilk. These kinds of people will always ignore logic and warp facts to fit their worldview, while espousing that they are keeping an open mind. Very few of them realise that they are exhibiting the very same behaviour as those that they claim are brainwashed into docility and subservience. Another brand of sheeple and very useful to those who wish to maintain the status quo.

Why did you fuck up Diablo you bastards?

It's really not that hard to figure out: it was in development hell for a decade when someone said "why don't we build a full-priced product with a weird f2p/auction house mechanic driving the loot system"

And instead of that person being booed out of the boardroom, they were put in charge of the project.

It was a much bigger fuckup than that: Cartoon characters. Childish story. Imperius (lol how original). Bnet 2.0 (which the original Bnet left in the dust as far as functionality is concerned). Shitty meaningless PvP. 4 player games (down from 8) etc. etc. etc....

*sigh*
