Not a fan of that either, but its the way of the times. Everything is about the money, these days you wanna play you gotta pay...

Hasn't that always been the way?

Used to be you pay once, you get everything, got access to dedicated servers, mod support etc. etc. Today you pay to be able to pay some more at release (or maybe if you pay before release so you can get some extras which you would need to pay extra for after release), no mod support, no dedicated servers, no....well. You get where Im going with this.

I was seriously stoked about this game a while ago, as I was a huge L4D fan. What Ive seen of the actual gameplay didnt leave me much impressed though. Doesnt feel like there is much game there. Hope Im wrong and this turns out great.

As for the DLC 'controversy' it was obvious from the day the game was announced that they would be pumping out new monestrs and/or hunters as a way to keep the gameplay fresh and to keep monetizing the game.

Not a fan of that either, but its the way of the times. Everything is about the money, these days you wanna play you gotta pay...

ahh yes the old pre-order bonus, AKA holding already made content for ransom demand.

Someone should get Liam Neeson to sort this shit out.

Or, as previous iterations have shown, timed exclusive. Either way, it's not a big deal.

Depends which way you look at it. From my point of view its locked content, even if for a short time, simply because you did the one thing that customers should never do (buy before you try, or at least read review from a respected source). It's punishing the customers that are smart enough to know better.

It's only punishing you if you're feeling entitled to that content. Sorry to say, in this instance, playing as Goro is probably not going to amount of anything other than "ZOMG I AM GORO". As I said, this is a big non-issue.

Really though, if you think this is punishment, then you really are part of the problem with the entitlement generation.

So waiting for the release of a game to see how it actually pans out and if its worth getting is entitlement?

Is the game THAT good? A lot of people were poo pooin it....maybe I can throw this in before GTA 5 comes out? I hammered out Mordor in 2 weeks and did 50 hours. How much time this one take up?

I guess you could hurry through in 10-12 hours. I spent 30+ hours exploring the station and getting all the collectibles. The atmosphere is so gorgeous, it would be a shame to not stop and savour the best bits.

Sweet. It will probably be a 30-50 hour game for me then.

Next question. What version should I get?
Vanilla (15.00)
Ripley (20.00)
Nostromo (25.00)

Looks to make most sense to get vanilla, cause the 2 things given in the other versions are available for super cheap, like a couple bucks each. Am I missing something?

Thanks.

Bats do you like survival horror games? Or rather Ill put it this way. Do you enjoy games which force you to do set piece parts over and over again until you figure out the exact way to get through them by trial and error?

Well I for one liked Rome2. Warts and all. Its hard not to like a CA strategy game, especially one that looks that good. Yeah compared to the original Rome it was a much simplified and streamlined game, and yeah the AI sucked balls, but I still managed to get quite a bit of enjoyment out of the game I just didnt take it that seriously and got into the spirit of crushing some barbarian hordes. So what if it wasnt that 'deep'? It was fun!

Really looking forward to this one. Blizzard really has been impressing me for a while - they found their footing again with WoW, Diablo 3 isn't perfect but is much improved, and Overwatch had a great presentation (other than the isolated dev yammering about female character outfits.)

Diablo3 is a travesty. WoW is...Im not gonna even go there. The only thing that Blizzard has produced of any quality in the last ten years or so is Starcraft2 and Hearthstone. Ill reserve judgement on Overwatch but it appears to be a reskin of TF2, which might not be a bad thing at all but do we really need another team based shooter?

How long did it take to develop:
GTA V, World Of Warcraft, Destiny, The Witcher 3, Guild Wars 2, Call of Duty games and so on?
Most AAA games take 4-5 years to make. Most games suffer release delays. Many crowdfunded projects and games have suffered delays and still did well when released. Divinity Original Sin. Wasteland 2 and so on.
In fact the kickstarter projects with a higher chance of success usually come from veteran developers. In fact most projects fail.

As you point out. SC has the funds. Has the talent. It continues to show progress on the project. The fact that they are financially stable is precisely why they have a better chance of success than many other projects.

Any religion that claims it is peaceful is full of shit. Why? Because at one time or another someone has used religion as an excuse to kill. Yeah, even Buddhists. Don't believe me? Go read a history book on Sri Lanka.

You, InBlack, are part of the problem with imbecilic statements like that. Typical liberal bullshit that I can't fucking stand.

This was probably my most extreme statement on the subject of religion ever and this guy calls it liberal. I didnt even disagree with him. Sad. I wonder if he can even recognize the irony...

Well said. Steam changed PC gaming in a big way. Steam OS (which is what these will be running I guess) has the potential to be even more relevant, especially with the shit Microshaft is rumoured to be pulling.

what are they rumoured to be pulling? making windows 10 not work with all x86 programs coded in the last 30 years? might wanna do some digging before repeating nonsense. no offense, but Gabe calling BS on MS having a kind of monopoly is pretty ironic. Let alone the fact that MS MADE both Steam, and GabeN in particular (MS millionaire baby!)

but the real joke is how anyone could ever consider steam machines to be anything close to a PC. hmm, a small form-factor walled-garden mid-low component-level console. oh wait, it comes in 5 different flavors! it's totally a PC!

Again total ignorance. SteamOS is just another Linux build. Any game that will work with SteamOS will work on any version of Linux. Get your facts straight. Next you will be telling me that Linux machines are not PCs.

Yeah, they forced every Counter-Strike player into Steam and thus got a headstart on the digital distribution front and kept that a monopoly for now. This is not very different to what MS does with Windows.

Steam OS (which is what these will be running I guess) has the potential to be even more relevant, especially with the shit Microshaft is rumoured to be pulling.

Windows 10 is probably something like an optimized Windows 7 and everybody who actually works on a PC, except for some Mac artists, will continue to use it, because you just can't work on a tablet. Also I don't see why people like Valve more than MS. Steam is already a closed App Store for games that gets % for every game sold. If SteamOS would succeed, the whole free Windows world would succumb to another Apple clone!

Wow. Total ignorance. Apple clone? Seriously? You do know that SteamOS is basically a Linux build right? If you knew anything about how Linux works you would not make completely invalid comparisons. Or maybe you do know and are trying to obfuscate the issue at hand. Im not saying it will work, it all depends on the game developers and if they are willing to build games for it, but it's a step in the right direction. Why would anyone have a problem with someone trying to develop an alternative to Windows? It's not about liking Valve over MS, its about what direction MS has been taking with its operating systems and them trying to create their own walled garden Apple style.

I wish them luck but they would have been better off making L4D3.

Loved both L4Ds, but you don't feel the game was pretty much played out? What does it need? New maps & weapons? Better graphics?

I played the hell out of L4D, especially versus. I thought L4D2 improved the game in almost every way, but it wasn't enough to encourage me to put in the hours. I think it did get played out, and a L4D3 on PC probably wouldn't be a buy unless I cave to peer pressure.

That said, a release of L4D neeeeeeds to go to XB1 and PS4...I think it plays great as a console game but the 360 release ran at sub 20 FPS. 1080P and a solid FPS on the new consoles will sell a lot of copies.

You want to play a FPS on a console? Whats wrong with you man?
