Every rule has an exception, also when compared to military and corporate spending in R&D, Cern (& ITER) is a drop in the bucket.

Where do we start?

Severe Pop Out - distant things are not visible and then pop out.

Friendly Fire - Shoot up your own capital ships while you miss those pesky fighters.

Those enemy fighters, can't fly for crap.

Looks like a rail shooter.

Yeah, well at least they are not selling virtual ships and whatnot. If the game turns out crap, it turns out crap. No one loses any sleep and/or money over it. (Except the developers)

I don't get it. Are they just going to ignore Alien3 ever happened or what?

Also apparently Biehn doesn't have an Instagram account, so there is that to consider.

I dunno. Looks pretty good. Could be very cool with Oculus rift, or even with TrackIR. Will be keeping an eye on this.

How much?

The preview page for Behemoth says $15 for him. Not sure if that is the price for him alone or the price for him + hunters.

Thanks for the effort, but nin already gave the correct answer to my question.

For all the shit that the military gets thrown at it, many of the things we take for granted now came out of DARPA funded projects.

direct funding for advanced R&D would be much, much preferred over side drippings from military exploits

living in a world of insane powermongers is also something we take for granted i guess

Except that there is no direct funding for any major R&D except in communist countries. The only real money in R&D these days in the Capitalist Reality most of us live in today comes from two sources. Corporate & Military. So unless we change our society from the ground up (fat chance of that) what we are left with is two evils, out of which the lesser is definitely military funding. (They dont just fund the shit that is 'profitable')

How do you 'become' a community manager anyway? I assume you have to have experience being a forum moderator, but most of those that I know are the biggest douchebag dicks ever. It's like the easiest job in the world but so many of these assholes get addicted to being chief of their little virtual fiefdom on the net. I assume that the best community managers aren't developer asskissers and censors, so there has to be more to it than that.

Im getting really sick and tired of zombies. I guess the success of this game is just going to fuel production of new and craptastic zombie games by studios eager to jump on the zombie train. *sigh*

This is worse than the plethora of WWII games was back in the day...

Wow, that DARPA article is fantastic, and awesome (if even remotely true) at the same time. Once again military funding and technology might provide a revolutionary breakthrough in technology and science. Technology of that nature would never get off the ground otherwise.

If they had released ten games with considerable commercial and critical success, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be shutting down.

Exactly! Im pretty sure that had their first Space Hulk game been more than just a pure direct-to-computer board game they wouldnt be in these dire straits. Sorry to say but the game really sucked, ascension is much, much better.

No we don't. Businesses in Ontario aren't required to provide refunds or exchanges. There's a cooling off period of 14 days on written contracts valued over $50, but if you choose to waive your rights by agreeing to the Terms of Use that's considered express consent.

A ToS and ToU or even contract can not be used to waive your rights in Ontario or Canada. That was covered under a case with Rogers Communications. Also, the part you're talking about has to do with all contracts between two or individuals not just 'written contracts.'
I thought you could always get your money back for purchases on Steam via Credit Card charge back, but doesn't that mean Valve will ban your Steam account?
I don't understand how Origin/EA can offer refunds for 24hrs but Steam can not.

Two reasons. First, Origin is small fries compared to Steam they want to build marketshare hence they need to do better than Steam. Second, Steam is so fucking big at the moment, they just don't give a shit. They have a lot of vested customers who have 100+ games in their library at this point. It's not like you can just pick up and choose to shop in another store, they GOT your games there man, you still got to fire it up to play them, like it or not.

I posted this very same thing in a thread two weeks ago. If they were going to make a "retro" Half Life 3 that is basically just an updated Half Life 2, they'd have done it already. Whatever we see from Half Life in the future is going to be very different, and the more time passes, the more likely it is it won't even be a continuation of the existing story.

You mean like Duke Nukem Forever, where they changed the engine like three times, and the story like twenty times? Yeah that turned out fucking fantastic.

Who could have guessed????!!!!!

(Are there enough exclamation points in there?)

Thank god for this study, I don't think that the human race could have survived much longer without this vital, crucial information.

Half-Life was amazing back in the day but if a sequel were to be released tomorrow using the same old formula with modern graphics, it wouldn't be that great.

Why not? For the life of me I can't think of a single FPS which has come out in the meantime which has better gameplay, story, gunplay. TBH I havent played the latest Wolfenstein, but I seriously doubt it's at the level of HL2, let alone HL1.
