Exactly. Except if ActiBlizz takes the lead this console generation 'round everyone else and their grandmother will follow suit and we will be left with the very few console ports we do want to play bringing our relatively powerful PC's to their knees.

Yeah well, who the fuck does code optimization anyway right? We can just throw more hardware at it!! Take that shitty code!

We wanted this, it was the only benefit the new consoles gave pc gamers.

Indeed. Until you remember that the game is coming out on PS3 and Xbox360. How much memory does the Xbox360 have again???

If the game's minimum PC spec is 6GB of RAM but still plays on last-gen consoles, odds are they downsized assets to fit the 360/PS3. At this point in its lifecycle, 360/PS3 playability is a concession rather than the baseline.

Exactly my point. They bother optimising and developing for last gen consoles, yet they never really bother about doing anything with the PC version at all, past a half-assed port at best.

Remember these are minimum specs. What the fuck are the recomended specs then????

Especially since the PS4 has 6GB of shared memory. Thats VRAM and SYSRAM. Sure the unified structure probably makes it much easier to code for the PS4 but what the hell...

I dont know why Im getting my panties all in a bunch though, this is CoD we are talking about after all....maybe its a harbinger of things to come?

Ghost in the Shell is a work of Art. Im not sure how I feel about a live action adaptation, even with Scarlett Johansson who I feel could be a pretty good casting choice for lead here. I guess it would depend on the screenplay, but Im guessing they would butcher most of what made the anime so great in the first place.

i have to respectfully disagree. while it was an epic philosophical journey, it was so wrapped up in its scifi trappings it utterly lacked any sense of humanity. i think that's what makes bladerunner the greatest scifi film of all - it never let go of its sense of humanity.

Well...thats like....your opinion man. I dont really want to compare the two but to me its just the opposite, in fact Ghost delves even deeper into what exactly makes up 'humanity'. It does get a little deep at times and leaves a lot open to interpretation though. Its that kind of film. But then again, so is Bladerunner. I dont want to riff on Bladerunner too much, its a great movie and Ghost owes a shitload to the Ridley Scott masterpiece.

It sounds like you should play a game that is action focused rather than stealth.

I like stealth games. I just dislike stealth games that force you to play in a certain 'very linear' way or not progress at all. If you give me stealth, then give me the means to use it in an organic way. I admit Ive only seen a very small part of the game, but if the entire game revolves around reloading a set piece until you stumble through (or look up the solution in a walkthrough) to me that is not fun. That is frustrating. Alien: Frustration.

P.S. Some great ideas there Eraser!

An interesting write up Vocal-Minority. Although I would refrain from the conclusion that there is a conspiracy going on of any great depth at all. What we are witnessing is unfolding from a clash between the media culture of extreme political corectness (any straying from this path is a huge negative mark on any perspective career) and a naturally open and dare I say it anarchic culture of the internet. Its unfortunate that the very vocal minority is being given a pulpit and is used to further ends that will hurt the majority everywhere.

Once the Alien actually showed up, it felt like I was just going to be running from locker to locker. Am I wrong? Tell me there are just particular areas it shows up in. And am I crazy for just wanting to investigate the station instead of run from the Alien? That's the point of the game...maybe it's just me getting old...

=-Rigs-=

I absolutely love the terror of running and hiding from the Alien. Having it sniff about looking for me while I'm hiding under a table is a rush.

This is easily the best Alien game I've played. So far better than AVP..which I loved.

AVP was Cameron's Aliens. Combat focused. Isolation is much closer to the original Alien film with a focus on survival and avoidance over combat.

In this you're not a colonial marine meant to battle 100s of Aliens as though they were bugs from Starship Troopers. So far I've killed one human who was clearly aggressive, but generally I avoid combat as much as possible. This makes it feel more plausible. Focus is on oldschool stealth, sneaking around trying to avoid an absolute killing machine.

I would have preferred it if there were less of the station's populace about, I don't feel as "isolated" or alone as I should.

I tried the game at a friend's place and he is clearly in love with it. I on the other hand was kind of like, ok cool atmosphere but what the fuck??? I just died five times to some three android dudes, who I have to somehow sneak past in exactly the right way or what, Im dead? I find games like that frustrating beyond belief. I even tried goading them somehow, throwing that sound thingy you can construct. To no avail...He was trying to convince me that isnt what the game is really but, seriously...who the fuck wants to load the same damn set piece 5 times to get past it somehow...

Really? Because all I can think of is this is the best viral marketing for a book I would never care to read about normally.

Seriously, people need to stop seeking validation from the internet for creative endeavors. Do it because it means something to you, not because you're desperate for the attention of others.

I honestly feel dumber for having read that 'article'.

The media coverage of gamergate, and the narrative being pushed against gaming and gamers in general proves a lot of points I personally have believed for a long time.

The lack of female gamers over the years (until recently) had everything to do with social acceptance and nothing to do with gaming being some kind of boys only club.

Who was chasing girls off of the Super Nintendo? Who harassed a girl off of a Sega Genesis? What anonymous death threats were being slung against girls playing Playstation or Xbox 1?

Up until recently, gaming was NOT socially acceptable. Being a gamer as your chief hobby was looked at as geeky, nerdy, or dorky, all things that have all been negative descriptors. Dorky or nerdy chic only came into popularity in the recent years as the world had to accept that techy type people were the movers and shakers these days. The hipster movement on nerdy outfits helped make nerdy a socially acceptable group.

As it became more socially acceptable, women became more comfortable participating in it. How many girls wanted to join video game clubs in high schools in the 90s or the early 00s? It just did not exist on any kind of comparable level, and the internet and accessibility to communicate was not nearly as established or common then, so you cannot seriously blame it on harassment. No one at an EB games ever stopped a parent from buying a game console because it was for a daughter and not a son. I'm confident in saying that has absolutely NEVER happened.

Now, the media, spearheaded by hipster online media and marketing types, has worked their asses off to make sure gaming is no longer socially acceptable. Instead of isolating the type of lunatics who would send ANYONE a death threat, they just label it as gamers, and they celebrate their friends jumping in on making sweeping generalizations.

then these people, who want to be celebrated and respected as members of the gaming industry, they join in on this, and when people respond to their negativity with equal negativity, it is labeled harassment.

This is all so dishonest, and it sickens me. The threats sicken me. The shit talking sickens me. The lies sicken me. The entire situation is a mess but the media will only focus on one side of the mess and it will not make a better community or society moving forward.

If we don't acknowledge this bullshit as a whole, we will not grow from it. It will just be someone else who is taking the beating, instead of figuring out a way to grow as a community and eliminate the bullying in ANY form.

This is the world we live in these days. It is acceptable to bully and victimize someone if they have been labeled the enemy, and no one is adult enough to understand the flaws in that system. No one is mature enough to be honest about it because just like the witch hunts of lore, people are willing to fabricate complete bullshit toward someone else so that they too are not hunted as a witch.

Gaming is being attacked socially again and people are so caught up in things like "Hey people! We're helping women here!" that they won't acknowledge what is happening as a whole here. In the years that come, anyone who identifies as a gamer is going to be seen with this lens. The lens that the media has painted. All of the progress that was made by celebrities showing off their game rooms on MTV's cribs, the celebs coming out as gamers, the celebs starring in game commercials or voice acting in games, all of that work is being undone before our eyes by things like "If you are a GAMER, unfollow me NOW!" and no one gives a shit.

At the end of the day, being a womanizer who hits on drunk women in a bar on a Saturday is and will always be more socially acceptable in the US than sitting at home and gaming with your friends of any race, age, gender or faith.

Grinding up on a woman in a bar is more socially acceptable than grinding out levels. This is the world we have all lived in for a long time and the turncoats who sold this industry out have ensured that it will continue for the foreseeable future, right as eSports grows bigger than most of us ever imagined and gaming as an industry continues to be recession proof.

Long live the GamerGate era, where a man who leaked a woman's nudes as a means of revenge against her is lauded for his efforts in censoring discussion on this topic on his forums.

Double standards are double standards, regardless of who they are victimizing, and they will continue to make us all look like assholes as long as we are too afraid to speak out against the status quo and point them out.

This too is my biggest fear. Gamers are once again pushed to the fringes of society, where they should be rightly be, hauling water and polishing their betters' jock straps...

Everyone is so quick to punish the gamer, calling it a TOXIC CULTURE. Why is that? What is wrong with people, why is there so much prejudice everywhere?

Ive been getting into japanese Anime and Manga a whole lot lately. Find that it pretty much beats western comics any day of the week. To be fair there is a lot of shit out there too, but the good stuff is really, really, fucking awesome. Just finished watching the remade Berserk the Golden Age (1,2 & 3) and it completely blew my mind. Awesome shit.

WB Confirms Justice League, Wonder Woman, Aquaman Films.

Why, why, and why?!?

1. Justice League: "Holy Shit, Avengers and GotG made a crapton of cash. We need some of that."

2. We haven't had a super hero movie with a woman in the lead. I applaud that. Hopefully they don't include her invisible jet.

3. I understand Jason Momoa will star as Aquaman. I like the idea of a non-white, non-blond Aquaman, and Jason was great as both Khal Drogo and in Conan.

1) Okay, I'll buy that
2) What about Jennifer Garner as Elektra? Yeah it sucked but so will Wonder Woman.
3) Sacrilege! I supposed you liked a female Starbuck too!!!

The new Conan movie is a piece of shit. However Jason Momoa AS Conan was a pretty good casting choice. His Khal Drogo is exactly as I imagined him from the book, and yeah the female Starbuck was pure awesomness!

You missed my point, although I guess I wasnt exactly clear. Society has changed drastically. Human nature has however remained the same. This is indeed one of the main problems with our modern world today, just turn on the news to see the evidence. Hell, the very examples you mentioned are proof of this. Gladiatorial combat is child's play compared to the shit we deal with and experience as a result of this disparity between the human psychology and our 'advanced' society today. Remember all the school shootings, the Norwegian masscre, the jihadist beheadings, the corporate exploatations of 3rd world countries and the countless other evils of our modern world and then tell me with a straight face that we are so much better than our ancestors. Why should a game that explores the taboo subjects of today even from such a controversial POV be censored? If we are indeed as progressive as you claim we are we should be able to deal with it and learn from it, and if it is indeed complete trash then we can just ignore it.
