While your comment is technically true, I fail to see what it has to do with the thread or the topic at hand. Apart from descender (rather defensively), and (obviously) Julio on the other part of the spectrum no one else mentioned spyware in this thread.

NASA has trialled an engine that would take us to Mars in 10 weeks.

The engine is controversial because it seems to violate one of the fundamental concepts of physics - the conservation of momentum, which states that for something to be propelled forward, it needs some kind of propellant to be pushed out in the opposite direction. But the EM Drive doesn't require any propellant in order to create thrust, it simply relies on electromagnetic waves.

I guess we'll find out one way or the other, but I'm getting visions of cold fusion in my head.

The EM drive is getting traction. (Pun, totally intended)

Don't worry about it jdreyer, its not breaking any real physical laws. You still need to pump energy in. Lots of it. It's just that Newton's law of conservation of momentum appears to be bucking, and appearances can be deceiving. But Newton's law is pretty old, very classical, and definitely doesn't take into account a myriad of quantum effects. Three seperate labs have confirmed the drive works now. NASA's lab, that University in Germany, and the Chinese (whom no one believes, fucking racists). After NASA completes this study others will jump on the bandwagon.

Pretty lame to lure people over to Onedrive/Office 365 with "unlimited" cloud storage only to renege and drop it back to the original 1TB after less than a year.

Isn't that called false advertising? Isn't that also against the law in most countries in the world? Thats not lame, thats illegal.

I pretend Fallout3 doesn't exist. Its Fallout2 then New Vegas. Then....whatever captures the atmosphere and isn't stupid beyond compare. In F4 they even mention Mutants BEFORE the catastrophe in the initial parts of the game. Developers who work on a game which they cant seem to 'get' usually make these kinds of mistakes. Bethesda, why couldn't you have just licensed this off to someone who actually gives a shit and knows their Fallout?

LoL, I doubt they will allow that. You could always load up skunkwerks or megamek's mech creator to do that.

Why would they not allow that? Are they going to be limiting customization?

Gotta love the X, Y, A, B controller choices for dialogue for what appear to be PC screenshots. Because. All human verbal interaction can be resolved with four choices. Love it, LOOOVE IT MAN!

Look, I know we here are more game-smart, more in touch with the real gaming world, we're elitists.. we all pretty much know better. I get it, we're smarter gamers. With that being said, I HAVE to support this game because of what they are trying to do, how they are going to try to support the PC platform. Will it work, who knows, but I love the attempt. Sure we've been burned before, I get it..

But I am going to give them a try.

How bout you wait for them to deliver on those promises before ponying up the cash? It's not like the best sold franchise in the world really needs your support....

Of course it is. Valve is monitoring logins, play times, activity, whether you fart a lot, everything...

Or how do you think they are coming up with the "your queue" recommendations and so on?

Of course it's based on your activity on Steam, what games you have purchased in the past, your wishlist, your social activities (which groups do you belong to, which curators are you following) and so on and so on...

It is incredible how insensitive many people have become to the fact that they are sharing a lot of personal data and information with services like Steam.
The real "1984" big bro thing is only a few years away if this trend continues where people just don't give a damn about who they are allowing to spy on them (with Win 10 being another very significant step in that exact direction).

LOL, nothing you mentioned is personal information, nice try though (not really).

So what do you consider personal information? Your name? Phone number? Address? Email perhaps? IP address? Dog's name? Favorite movie? Favorite meals? Sexual preference? Weird psychological quirks or faults? Obsessions? Social status? Income? Marital status? Online posts and opinions? Hobbies & Favorite past-times? etc. etc. etc.

I'm not saying Valve is collecting any of that, they are probably interested in a fraction of that, namely your activities on Steam, but if you don't believe that others are collecting the information listed above or that this information is somehow totally not personal, then you are very naive indeed.

Quest to get Power Armor is no longer a drawn out "thinky use your brain" quest. It literally takes place in the first hour of gameplay to go on a Power Trip.

So...you get the armor in the first hour of the game and then what? Spend the rest of the game upgrading it? Cos fuck that shit. That's not item progression, thats LAZY GAME DESIGN. *sigh* I hope you are wrong about this...

Screw the graphics, did any of you people 'watch' the actual videos? Did you listen to the dialogue? It's fucking cringeworthy, trying too hard to be darkly humorous and failing hard. The voice acting is...well shit. Not to mention the logical fallacies in the first 15 minutes of the game.

I love the part where the hero and his family arrive to the Vault and the soldier guys are turning away people and the hero says, "were on the list", and the soldier says: Yeah, male, female, infant...go in! Oh my god, what is that? Is that supposed to be funny? Cos its stupid is what it is, its not funny. /facepalm.

Awful, awful, awful. If the rest of the game is as terrible as the intro it's going to be godawful.

Disclaimer: Fallout2 had an awful first half-hour of the game. Those caves were terrible, but they had very little dialogue.

Where's the damned PvE game? "Going for PvP" means they've given up on investing time in PvE missions, easy to do once basic combat is established. Shove it out the door.

Did you not see all the SP stretch goals? Or are you just trolling?

I think he is alluding to the fact that RSI went full overblown retard with the money and the stretchgoals and changed its focus from Single Player to MultiFPSArenaMMOthingy....

It's a valid concern because so many companies go for the cash grab (Wargaming, Piranha, RSI etc.) instead of building the game people want, but this is Harebrained, they have done successful kickstarters before, have completed their games, and most importantly it's a turn based game, something that today's brotards have little interest in actually playing.

I have high hopes for this game.

Not holding my breath...

Well we all know that Lindelof is responsible for the major plot holes, and logical fallacies in the new movies so at least we can be thankful that he is not involved in this. This show needs to hit it out of the park. Casting is really going to be important. Im hopeful. I guess I should have expected the cynicism but holy fuck, not one even one other hopeful? It's fucking STAR TREK!

I was really excited and really playing with the idea of getting a dev kit for Occulus Rift but holy fuckballs this is a long-ass drawn out POS dev cycle.

I have lost all interest in it. In the 3 years I've been waiting for it to come out I've moved on to other stuff.

Boohoo, three years waiting, for this long-ass drawn out POS dev cycle....boohooo!

Your tears or frustration are sweet joy to my tongue. Seriously three years for a hardware solution that's practically never been done in this format before? Vacuum cleaners take longer to develop than that. Starcitizen will take 10-15 longer to develop than that. Par for the course for the entitled generation, I guess sheesh....

Just saying if you wanted, you could have nearly every game on steam

Agreed. Steam is very convenient. With that said, today I go where the better deals are. Most of the time, that's not on Steam. Im not staying away for any particular reason, it's just the last time I reformated my PC (About a year or so ago) I simply didn't have a need to install it since I was busy with other games that don't require it or aren't available on it. When another great game comes along that requires it, or I feel the urge to play something out of my Steam catalogue, Im sure Ill be back. In fact I really should check out that Total War Arena....

The joke being that DCS is (also) on Steam

Then the joke is on you my friend. I buy DCS modules directly from their Eagle Dynamics website. They are cheaper (in USD compared to EUR) and I'm supporting the developers directly, since Steam doesn't get its 30% cut.

One other benefit is that the stand-alone versions come out much sooner and the beta versions are more up to date than any of the Steam versions.

Its an Alpha, maybe, just maybe some of you probably aren't ready for the open development model.

I beg to differ. This isn't a case of consumers witnessing an unfamiliar and inherently unpleasant process proceeding normally, like giving birth or making sausages. They are witnessing something being done in an inefficient, bad way.

Except what they are showing is hardly open development. Its marketing, virtually nothing is actually shown of any real progress but progress is meant to be 'inferred'. The progress reports we do get are so unabashedly positive, despite lacking in any real information, to be hardly worth the pixels they are made of. It's disgusting.

So open for you is livestreaming the coding and bug fixing ? ...
As a Programmer i prefer watching paint dry

As a programmer you should understand the difference between actual programming and progress reports.
