Stephen Hawking is a media-hyped Physicist and likely not even on a list for the top 20 Physicists of the 20th century.

Wow.

I'm not saying he doesn't deserve the attention he gets but I am confident in saying that there are likely far more Physicists out there who have gone unnoticed by the media that contributed far more towards their fields of research.

Michio Kaku is another example of a media-hyped Physicist but that doesn't mean he's bad. I love me some Michio Kaku.

20 might be a stretch though.

My dad is a physicist, and while Stephen Hawking is very famous and acclaimed in the general media compared to most physicists let me assure you of this: He is EVEN MORE acclaimed in the physics community and was so way before anyone outside of the community even knew of his existence.

Everything demonstrated so far has been really encouraging but I don't preorder games anymore. Hopefully it holds up, I would love a good survival horror game set in the Alien universe.

Exactly. The concept of a dynamic AI that stalks you through a contained location is kind of awesome.

It's a shame that dynamic AI doesn't exist. The alien's actions are almost 100% scripted, using cheap tricks like teleporting throughout the environment. It doesn't help when the game has a very linear level design and none of that exploration and survival horror like they lead us to believe.

As a $10-$20 budget title I would bite. A linear, scripted, singleplayer-only game with no mod support I can't get behind for the $50+ asking price.

Hmmm, I have read statements from the developers stating directly the opposite of what you wrote. Im not going to preorder the game in any case, but Im wondering where you got your information from?

Looks like the online gaming rags noticed that being controversially one sided and openly hostile to most of their readers by lumping them all in the same generalized category brings a shitload of views and clicks to their sites. Why is anyone surprised they are choosing to take this road? Case in point, one (in a series) of the longest threads on Bluesnews that has nothing to do with games or gaming, and everything to do with the supposed controversy of being a gamer. A term which has somehow become synonimous with "sexist pig" thank you very much. Its a deliberate churn of the waters. More hits = more $$$.

Diaper grown mushrooms? Oh hell no! Oh man, I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.

I got news for you. All vegetables and grains are grown in some kind of shit. When animals are slaughtered they get covered in shit that spews from their guts. Most food has traces of crap on it. That's why we keep getting cases of e coli poisoning from improperly washed fresh veggies and improperly cooked meet. So unless you're slaughtering your own animals and growing your own veggies, buyer beware.

So basically what you are saying is that we have basically been eating shit every single day since the day we were weaned from our mother's tit?? I kind of thought as much...

Windows 2000 and Windows Vista were actually more popular than Windows XP and Windows 7, respectively, among power users.

Puh-lease! Vista was a DOG of an OS that no "power user" I know of wanted anything to do with. Insane amount of hand-holding and confirmation prompts for the most basic of tasks. I hated working on Vista machines, and skipped it myself, jumping from XP to 7. I like 7. It's solid and stable and fast. No reason to upgrade to the latest dog that is 8, and 9 will have to be pretty special for me to bother. I don't need Office or Firefox or Minecraft or Photoshop to open faster than they do now, and they can't really run better. After seeing the Android OS that MS tried to pass off as Windows8, I'm not really impressed with what their idea of "upgrade" means. I don't want a Mac. I want a Windows machine that I have absolute control of every program and service that loads. I want a fucking file manager where I "see" where all my shit is and move it where I want easily, NOT "My Pictures" or "My Documents", and certainly not those big square block thingies of Windows8.

Basically, I want DOS/Win3.1 with XTreeGold (and DirectX 11 support).

"You cant allways get what you want..." The Rolling Stones

There is no way that Windows 9 will be more open than 8. In fact every single version of Windows has been more closed than the last. I for one expect the equivalent of "Play Store" or "iTunes" to be fully integrated into the next version of the OS. We will still have some modicum of control over what we can install with 9, but when 10 rolls along that could become a thing of the past.

sport
noun

: a contest or game in which people do certain physical activities according to a specific set of rules and compete against each other

Well, what constitues a physical activity? Is moving a chess piece on a board a physical activity? What about having 350-400 highly coordinated clicks per minute on a computer screen?? According to this definition, Chess and Starcraft are both a sport.

There is a reason why ESPN doesnt accept eSports as sports, but it has nothing to do with the definition of the word.

I don't see anything out-right wrong with it. Reminds me of the old F1 Phoenix track, which was featured in Microprose's 1993 World Circuit.

The one thing that is still missing from the F1 sim series is the amount of jitter and vibration that is apparent when viewing from the cockpit or anywhere on the car, especially around the wheels. In-game it looks too mellow and smooth. You watch a real race and the driver is bouncing around in the seat along with his hands on the wheel, especially evident when he goes over corners...

=-Rigs-=

Actually the game gets it right. The excessive bounce and jitter we get as TV viewers is due to the camera being mounted on the chasis with a fixed mount. The driver seat (as well as his buttcheeks, spine and neck) absorb most of that, and his eyes and brain compensate for the rest. Ever ridden (or driven) in a car with a really low and hard suspension? It bounces like hell, and you do feel it but its not like your view jitters like you were high on meth or something....

The different TV camera views could have it, but the default cockpit view shouldnt make you feel you are driving the car by remote control.

I watched Federer v. Monfils instead of the NFL game. Damn damn damn that was an intense match.

Federer vs Cilic in the semi-finals. It's 5 : 0 for Federer in their matches so far, so Cilic is definitely the underdog, but Im still hopeful.

Who here has a 4GB GTX760? Mine's a 2GB.

And gaming on 4K (which I don't do, 1920x1080 with a little FXAA or SMAA looks great to me) really needs AT LEAST 3GB. There are released games which use over 4GB in 4K at max settings.

I got one. I would have bought the 2Gb version but they didnt have it on stock and this one was almost the same price so I said what the hell.

This game does not offer any haunting feelings, they are all smoothed over with WOW ART. why is the scariest features about Diablo 3 have to be endearing or almost apologetic to the viewer?

That's an interesting point. When I first played D2, it seemed really unsettling, horrifying, and sometimes claustrophobic to me with the combination of artwork and music and level design, which was strange to me since its a cRPG and I did not expect immersion like that. I didn't get that total feeling in D3, just kind of tense sometimes I guess.

There is a lot of truth to this. Also can someone explain to me why Bind on Account is EXCLUSIVE to the PC version of the game, while the console crowd can freely TRADE their legendaries??? Another fuck you to PC gamers from the company that was started by PC gamers (or so they would have us believe). Well fuck you right back Blizzard fuck you very much!

Minimise two-way interaction with fans. There are always going to be a minority of kooks out there. If you make a blog with commenting enabled, or a twitter account that allows direct unfiltered discussion then you can expect some craziness.

20 years ago we had no direct contact with game devs. Now they're al signing up for services that essentially provide an open line into their lives. What do they expect? People are going to people. I say "people", not "gamers" because nasty behaviour is not isolated to our hobby as the gaming press would have us believe.

No no no, you got it all wrong. Gamers are the scum of the earth and we should all go and jump in a fire. All will be well with the world after that.
