Looking great. Good to see that they are sticking very close to both the visual look of the game, the level design and the atomsphere. The UI really needed a huge upgrade, and it's good to see they didn't keep the clunky original one. It's been so long since Ive played SS1 that I've completely forgotten the plot of the game. It will be fun to get into it again.

EA would have to pay me to install and play Dragon Age Inquisition.

Is the game supposed to be bad? I honestly haven't read anything about it but I figured I might pick it up at some point.

It all depends. As you can see a lot of people here enjoyed DA:I. I for one took a few looks at some let's play videos and quickly decided the game was not for me. I am not a fan of MMO style gameplay in a single player game. The UI and tactical (pause?) interface looked like a nightmare too. I am however getting very picky and choosy with my games because I have so little time to play them lately, and this is doubly true for RPGs.

Im lvl 20 now and looking for a way into the institute. The only outcome of any dialogue Ive seen so far is to either accept a quest or refuse it. Oh I met two guys where one guy looked like the other guy and both were accusing the other of being a synth. When I tried to reason with them they told me to fuck off, then I killed them both. They both bled blood, and neither appeared to be a synth. This is lazy quest design even by Bethesda standards. I still manage to have fun in the game, but I don't think of it as role playing game at all. It's a free form action adventure, with role-playing elements. In other words the cake is a lie.

Wow that indeed looks impressive. Any videos of it in action around? Im guessing not really at this point?

its fake dude

Which is why I wanted to see it in action. If it looks too good to be true, it probably isn't.

I enjoy a bit of gamer "swag" but geez.

It would make more sense if the nice clothes added charisma and skill (trait?) bonuses that would help you make it through the game by avoiding combat entirely. Right now its all a little bit pointless.

Has anyone figured out how to get the game to work in Fullscreen mode and not Borderless window yet? I can run the game fine in bordeless window, but I feel that (Nvidia GTX970 user here) the game doesn't do Vsync correctly, and I noticed some weird graphical anomalies and some performance issues too.

Dunno if this'll fix things, but if you edit your Fallout4Prefs.ini (with a text editor) in C:\Users\%YourProfileName\Documents\My Games\Fallout4 there are two entries:

bBorderless=1
bFull Screen=1

Both were set to "1" by default for me and setting bBorderless=0 didn't mess up anything in-game so far.

Tried that. And a whole lot of other combinations. Nothing worked other than bFull Screen=0, and BBorderless=1.

Next time you don't want to call someone a liar, don't include this in your post:

Kajetan wrote on Nov 24, 2015, 08:03:

There is no truth in many of your postings.

As for being bitter, maybe you mean that Im not a typical gamer sycophant, pre-ordering the latest EA or Activision regurgitated bullshit, and perpetuating the digital waste that has permeated our hobby. You will find that I give praise where praise is due (for e.g. Witcher3) and am excited about certain projects (for e.g. the new Doom, and DCS World 2.0, Mech-commander, XCOM2 etc.) and not bitter at all when it comes to developers showing some great initiative and promise.
I do however have a particular pet peeve with Chris Roberts, and his Long Con, since space sims are one of my favorite genres in gaming, and what he is doing is just wrong on so many levels....

So what if Im bitter? Im entitled to an opinion right? Also please point me to the untruthful posts as I dislike being called a liar, even online. After a quick check of your own post history, you seem to take a lot of pleasure in attacking Blues posters that have a negative opinion on anything really, and don't hesitate to shit down on the entire Blue community anytime you feel like it. They're not especially sympathetic to Kotaku's argument that publishers are trying to 'hamper independent reporting in pursuit of a status quo in which video game journalists are little more than malleable, servile arms of a corporate sales apparatus'."

Oh noes. They're not sympathetic to that? I WONDER WHY??!

(hint, Ars: Maybe it's because for 15+ years, you game "journalists" have been sucking publisher dick and regurgitating press releases rather than do anything that could even remotely be construed as actual journalism.)

So no, no sympathy. Fuck that. Kotaku have been some of the worst publisher mouthpieces, and now because they've published like two articles that "revealed" something (and please, half the fucking world knew the next Fallout was going to be set in Boston, as early as like 2011), all of a sudden they're the Champions of Gaming? Fuck Kotaku.

Lol, from the Kotaku article:

They will claim we are “hurting video games,” and, as so many do, mistake the job of entertainment reporting for the mandate to hype entertainment products.

Oh pot, you and kettle, always at it.

The problem is, Bethesda is angry at Kotaku for, you know, doing actual journalism. Finding out about games in development is actual journalism.

Kotaku sucks, but the reason Bethesda is angry at them is because they did the exact thing people keep asking them to do.

It's not respectable journalism. They're not doing anything to serve the public interest. Details of unannounced games isn't really a need-to-know thing. It's on the level of photographing celebrities in their bathing suits.

Yeah, you get your temporary spike in clicks, but of course that's going to get you shitlisted. DUH.

Bullshit Mag, if a gaming news site or magazine finds out that one of the most potentially popular upcoming releases has absolute shit for content, then that is exactly what I as an avid gamer and consumer want to know, thank you very much. That is the definition of making a scoop, so to say.

If that is not respectable journalism to you, then you have no fucking idea what journalism is.

Well I was one of the suckers who bought into this game. Problem was, by the time I joined NS2 most others already left. So yeah, pretty sad servers, and the commanders were usually absent or sucking badly. But when the game clicked (rarely) and two good teams formed, it was some seriously wicked awesome fun.

I always felt the biggest problem with the game was the level design. Not that it was bad or anything, just misdirected. This type of game needed at least a few larger, more open levels which would allow for bigger teams and more open ended games, but yeah the huge loading times were probably the main reason they never went this route.

Having fun with the game finally after getting through the boring parts early on and getting to grips with my initially gimped STR based character, but it's definitely not free-form in the way that Fallout New Vegas was. I fucking HATE it that I can't be the bad guy and that there is very little choice anywhere in the game. Basically you can choose to finish any given quest, or not. So far Ive only seen one optional side quest addition that, you guessed it, had really no outcome on the quest itself. It's a fun action/exploration game, and Im enjoying the crafting parts way more than I thought I would although the base building is cringe worthy and I haven't touched it. There is very little 'role' playing in the classic sense of the word, the game is more like GTA or Far Cry and it's not a bad game (apart from the horrendous first few hours) but it's definitely not a role playing game.

Oh give it a rest with that bullshit already. Yes, we rip on stuff...that deserves to be ripped on and we also praise the stuff that deserves praise. Kotaku deserves to be smacked down. You don't run amok and not expect consequences. You want corporations to be your pals then you have to play ball with them. As the old expression goes, there's a way thing ought to be than there's the way things are.

Why would anyone be friendly with someone who is hostile them, leaks their secrets and causes them embarrassment. And worse, they do it not out of any sense of responsibility, but solely to make money. The assholes of Kotaku aren't some paragons of virtue being hard done by here. If your business is predicated on co-operation from the companies you speak about on a regular basis than you better toe the line. If not, fuck them in the ass sans lube and go your own way - which is what Kotaku chose to do here. They made their bed, now they have to lie in it.

Youre one of the most contrarian people on here Cutter. Im not sure whether you are are liberal, a conservative, a communist, a fascist an anarchist or just an asshole. What is the point you are trying to make here? Why the hate for Kotaku?
