I'm just glad they are going to build a full real full scale X game. I've played Rebirth for only about 15 hours and in my opinion this game is unfixable. Which is why I think it's great they are doing another game, because you'd need to start from scratch to build a real X game.

[edit]
With that said, I've only read rumours on bluesnews about there being a real X game in the future. Where did it come from? I tried to look at the official site and the official forums and haven't found anything.

Thats because it is just rumors. They are bleeding through their ears and this half-assed expansion is an attempt to stop them bleeding out. How they fucked X up is beyond comprehension, I liken it to Blizzard fucking up Diablo3 but even worse.

Pray to the gods of gaming that this does not end up sucking balls. I'm hopeful, but if its just a rehash of the games of old its not going to be that great. They need to do something new with the story at least and Im hopeful they wouldn't attempt one for just a cash grab.

Ok Im not a huge fan of conspiracy theories in fact I don't believe in that kind of shit as a general rule, but this makes me think JJ Abrams sabotaged (excuse the pun) this shit the minute he signed on to direct Star Wars.

What is missing from these new Trek films can be summarized in one word: Wonder.

Call me a hater or whatever, I don't give a shit, where is the Trek of old that dealt with human issues and with the human spirit, with the infinite reaches and wonders of space and with the mystery of the unknown. That is what Trek should be about, not this Michael Bay bullshit...Fuck you Abrams, fuck you very much.

Shock perhaps? Or sociopathy on a pretty big order of magnitude. Or simple survival instincts. Act like nothing happened, maybe no one will suspect, or a combination of those things? Its best not to dwell on the darker sides of the human psyche...

I have no idea what the fuck you guys are talking about. Keen was super fucking awesome on the PC, I remember playing Mario1 before that and then trying Keen on a sleepover at a friends house (yeah I must have been around 9 or 10 at the time) and being completely and utterly blown away how much bigger and more complex the world of Keen was compared to Mario. We played that game on many a weekeend and weeknights, and yeah the jumping and running were kind of wonky on a keyboard of the time compared to the console controls of Mario, but once you got used to it it worked fine.

SC Monthly studio reports in a nutshell: No no no no no. Seeing some gameplay footage of Sq42 is super secret. No one is allowed to see it. Instead here is a super detailed report on how doors open and close on the various ships and stations, and the simulated sensors in place which detect your avatar on approach to make that happen. Oh yeah, Gillian Anderson is coming to film her shit tomorrow! High Five!

You mean like the documentary where the Nazis tried to weaponize the Loch Ness monster, but the queen and her army of lizard people stopped them, so they had to build a mechanical megalodon instead, so some people believe could have maybe happened?

Yes, that would be the History channel, the one I don't watch.

Im still paying for cable. Main reason being, they are my internet providers and fairly reliable and cheap at that. (Flat rate, no throttling, no extra bandwidth fees). The catch being that you need to have a TV package in addition to the Internet. So I just have the cheapest TV package, which I basically almost never watch. (Now and again I watch ViaSAT History which, unlike the History channel, has some great documentaries)

Ouch, Slick has been burned. Badly. Just the dedicated server support alone (yes publicly available servers, thank you very much) should be enough to bury games like this. Unfortunately, most gamers are dumb fucks with the intelligence and memory of a fruit fly, they go "PURTY!!", jizz in their pants, and pre-order as soon as they see a new sexy screenshot of their favorite franchise...agh....

My Star Wars tickets are for imax showing on Friday at 8. Reserved seats so no waiting in line. The only issue I will probably have is avoiding spoilers all day Friday. Guess I'll just have to unplug that day as much as I can.

Got tickets for saturday. Yeah avoiding the spoilers is gonna be damn hard to do. Im hoping Im wrong about Abram's secret reveal, but from what Ive seen of the trailers its too damn obvious not to be what I think it is...*sigh*

gimme slightly future.. 32 vs 32 (or 64 vs 64?), dedicated private servers, and all the other goodies.
Make up for that bag of hog poop called Battlefront!

Sorry to rain on your parade but making a quality game is kind of not EA's thing. Quality production values sure, quality gameplay...ehm....not so much.

My online Sarkeesian guide: When dealing with a professional victim, carefully step away with both hands raised in the air. Avoid eye contact and don't make any sudden moves, be extra careful not to move your hips or crotch in any way that might be interpreted as suggestive. Do not speak, and if possible do not breathe until you are at least 500 meters away from the person in question. Once you are at least 500 meters away, turn around and run away as fast as possible. Don't look back. EVER.

THREE DLC PACKS ON RELEASE? You gotta be fucking kidding me... Well, here goes one game which I was awaiting with great anticipation to buy that I'll be pirating on release with all DLCs included. Fuck'em.

Now MoO remake, don't make that same "DLC puke in the plate" mistake please. Thanks!

You know, you could just wait a month or three and buy it for 50-60% off instead of stealing it. No one owes you a free game on release day. Quite a few games I've waited 1-2 years to buy simply to get the GOTY edition for $10.

As for stealing vs copying:
One reason something costs more than something else is the amount of money it takes to create it. For some products this represents maybe two hours of labor, but $50 in materials. For others, it might be 50,000 hours of labor, and nothing in materials. A car might take thousands of man-hours to create, and use thousands in materials, hence it costs $20,000. A video game also takes thousands of man-hours to create, while having no physical costs. However, you still have to pay the creators of the game the same as you have to pay the guys that put doors on the cars and built the engines that go into them. It's simply a medium that lends itself to theft more easily.

The guys that are working on this game decided to really focus on PC development to make a game specifically for PC enthusiasts, and by stealing the game, you are essentially sending a big "FU" to them, and telling them to go focus on console games where DRM can ensure they are paid for their hard work.

Except you see, the way it usually works (not in indie development) is that the publishers already pay the developers for all of their man hours, the developers see a tiny cut of the sales if they see one at all, and the publisher makes most of the profits anyway. Moral of the story? Is copying the same as stealing? No. Is it still wrong? Yes, yes it it. But it's still not the same as stealing.

Gotta love these US lawmakers of yours. If anything, they are predictable. Their "Death to Taxes" and "Glory to Free Markets" is a constant and staunch rallying cry for the oppressed corporate overlords, no matter their disposition, no matter their politics, as long as they have green in their pockets.

There's a rumor they're making an SP portion for this. Anyone have any inside info?

That rumor is wrong. There is another Mechwarrior game in the making but it's got nothing to do with Piranha (thank god), it's the turn based Mechcommander game, can't remember what it's called exactly, that got kickstarted a couple of months ago.

Doom omg, first game I had to upgrade my PC for. 4MB of RAM does not cut it! that programming monster ate 8MB for it and the Windows to run.

Doom and Doom2 worked fine with 4 MB of memory if you knew how to pimp your config.sys and autoexec.bat files in DOS

Been considering the Intel Core i7 5960X myself, as I'm at a point where I'd like to put together a full system... Also considering the Intel PCIe 1.2 TB SSD (2.4k read vs the usual ~540 for drives), but I'm not sure I want to throw that much money at a new system... On the fence ; )

Throw in a 980 Ti and I'm up to over $3k for the system, which is likely going to run 20% faster than my current heh... But it's fun to buy stuff, so we'll see ; )

No reason why you should go for the i7 over the i5 if all you do is gaming.
