I dont find it a waste of time. I dont even find it a waste of company time since I dont slack off and I rarely have 8 hours of straight up work every single day at my job. I do have downtime and during this downtime I use the net. I dont see what the big deal is.

Nope. Its a free upgrade for people who already own Flaming Cliffs 3. Its not a full on DCS level module, its just a standalone version of the plane that is already in FC3 but features an upgraded professional flight model. Let me explain it like this. In DCS you have two flight models, a simplified flight model and an advanced flight model.

A full on DCS Mig21 or A10C for example feature full avionics and systems modeling together with an AFM.

Most FC3 planes feature a fraction of the modeled systems, but a few like the F15C and now the SU-27 are getting a flight model upgraded to the level of the full on DCS level modules. This is quite important since these planes now actually fly very realistically which IMO is the most important part that any sim should get right before anything else.

Same here. Bored with Mordor. I like the concept of horror games, but few have really been done well. Im afraid of picking up Alien, Im afraid Ill get bored with it within a couple of hours of playing it once the game's 'mechanics' start grating on me.

ArcheAge is an items-to-win grind, UO was an even playing field where only skill mattered. House looting was not patched out very early in UO, it was patched out towards the end of the era that people feel nostalgiac about. It seems like you are comparing ArcheAge to the version of UO that exists '00-Current and not the era of UO that everyone talking about old school UO is referring to, 97-00. The era that made the game great, the era that people reminisce about. Unable to loot houses, unable to loot players, ability to craft items that give you a PvE/PvP advantage...you are comparing ArcheAge to TODAY'S UO, not the hardcore UO that all the old schoolers fell in love with.

Just because a game has crafting, housing, and an open world, does not make the game "Like UO". Dozens of MMO's that came out in the last decade and a half have all that, and people don't compare them to UO. So stop comparing this game to it, yes it has similarities, like many games do, but is missing everything that made UO fun.

I was about to check this out. Thank you for saving me some time.

I think I would have liked this game better had it been a straight up corridor adventure beat em up...erm slash em up? Whatever. Along the lines of Arkham 1. Had it stuck to the tried and true arcade formula, I think I would have liked it much better. The Nemesis system is kind of cool on paper, but it feels like you are doing the same fights over and over and over again in practice. Maybe if they didnt have the uruks respawn every minute or something. Maybe I just need to give it more time...oh well...

Im finding the game sort of strange so far. I liked Arkham 1 which is the main reason I bit for this game. Im not sure what it is that irks me about the game. I think its the fact that it pretends to do open world, when it is really tiny. Its also densely populated. I like to plan attacks ahead, and use stealth where possible and the game keeps throwing hordes of Orks and Captains at me. Every fight is basically a slaughter and while that is fun sometimes, it gets tiring fast. I havent played it for two days straight. Maybe Im just getting old...

Your math is all fubared Beamer. Why do they need to generate 2.5 Bil in profits?? Making 4.5 Billion dollars from Oculus seems far fetched in the extreme. Since when do you need to return 150% of your original investment to be considered a success? If things worked like that in the real world we wouldnt have investment. Or gambling for that matter.

Man thats such a cool story. UO was the shit! Why cant they make games like that anymore? Heaven forbid that people actually discover emergent gameplay outside the box, or use the game to earn some hard cash.

Regarding the Destiny cut story line thing, my disappointment with that game goes further than that. They painted a picture of an almost Mass Effect style universe with interesting lore, more activities and whatnot. Instead we got a surprisingly short game thats heavy on repetition/grind. I've just been playing a buddies copy so I don't care that much but if it wasn't for the PvP we wouldn't even bothered playing after launch week. It's a good game but there just needs to be more of everything.

Makes you wonder what they spent that half a billion on. (Actually no it doesnt, they spent it on marketing)

All we have is a simple multiplayer dog fight sim, single player bot arena match and some racing thing. That is pretty unacceptable to me given 2 years. While I understand that these things take time, there hasn't been even a hint at the single player portion of the game. All we get is "Here is a new ship you can buy with real money so we can get another million this week." If you look at the kickstarter page you can see they were estimating a November 2014 release date. For what they have delivered so far that was a grossly negligent estimate. I mean if they estimated to ship by next month, I would have expected them to at the very least have all the modules in Alpha by now and expect some delays. But they don't even have an alpha part of the single player, the trading, or even the traveling to other worlds part.

    Exactly this. Even if it only takes off in the flight/drive/mech sim community thats already a big success. People forget that these guys spend hundreds of dollars for the latest multi monitor, headtracking setup. If its done well this has the potential to replace all of that with one device, and a hugely immersive one at that.
