News Comments > Star Trek Online Borg with Lifetime Subscription
22. Re: Star Trek Online Borg with Lifetime Subscription Jan 15, 2010, 08:32 Shagwood

I know alot of people are fanbois of Cryptic...but IMHO...it seems like they are a sweatshop of MMOs...that just grind out POS after POS....take a basic generic MMO skeleton and throw some new skin on it.

I don't get it.

Plus...they hired Roper...who ranks right up there with the Dennis Dryaks of the gaming biz ....

News Comments > Final The Old Republic Classes Revealed
16. Re: Final The Old Republic Classes Revealed Nov 24, 2009, 09:56 Shagwood

They've said from the very beginning that this isn't "a day in the life of Star Wars" it is a story-centric MMORPG. That is where they are innovating, in storytelling and immersions.

I'm not really sure what the point of this. Since the game is story-centric and each player's story is completely self-contained, why even make it an MMO? The whole point of a Massively Multiplayer game is to have players interact with each other. If nothing I do has any effect on you, what's the point?

Thus far, TOR just seems like KOTOR3 but with a monthly fee.

/points at nose

Well considering thats really all everybody has to go on...considering the very little substance and meat that has been released on the game...of course its all marketing related. Maybe they should work on their marketing strategy then? If they are not going to release some more ACTUAL info.

I completely agree InBlack ... Roper is a joke. Let's see if he gets re-hired after this debacle.

Well ...the Champions Online def is not fun. The char creation is pretty intense...but how long can you have fun making a million looking diff chars.
Another completely boring franchise coming in the form of a Superhero MMO.

Also another failure that Roeper is involved with. Perfect.

Am I the only one that thought the Spider Man trilogy sucked arse. And that Evil Dead was just tongue and cheek horror? Sorry never seen the greatness of Sam Raimi. He'll just throw Bruce Campbell in there somewhere for a terrible cameo...and the fanbois of Raimi will call GREATNESS. End of Story

Ya what about DoW2 where you have to login to both? WTF. I agree with peeps on here saying there are too many logins to too many services before u get to gameplay. And I love how they still try and say Copy Protection protects consumers. Please.

IMO this is sounding more and more like CoV and COH...which to be honest were pretty boring and lackluster to say the least. Small niche market at best. Plus the Weakness mechanic in the PnP game was pretty cool(and very classic Super Hero stuff).... sounds like they have removed that. Add on top of that ...the swell management stylings of Roper aka Destroyer of Worlds....and I see disaster. And Blah Blah Blah on Roper being in on old skool Diablo....the jury is still out on what his actual role was as far as its success goes if you ask me.

A Twilight 2000 MMO might be worth a shot. Although i still don't understand why whoever has the Shadowrun license (havent checked lately who has it) do a MMO based on it. Has everything any fan of any genre could want. Fantasy, Cyber, etc etc... Sure it would be tuff. But if done right with the right peeps...could be best all time IMO.
