You know the Drs leaving Bioware...is like 2 dudes coming to your house for a party...taking a nasty stinky dump in your bathroom ...and then saying GOTTA GO! (SWTOR) |

I would have figured that just creating an isometric 3d style would suit it far better...
Anyway, shit, I'm in for $15, and if it looks amazing, I'll happily upgrade.
Creston One of my fave games/genres of all time...played the crap put of the PnP as well as the SNES game...in for $15 as well!! |

I'm at the point now where I feel like I probably won't bother with this. Reminds of Dragon Age, which was TEH GAME for me until EA announced Securom DRM, backed down from it, introduced online DLC and EA accounts, released trailers with boring high school rock music and tons of pixel blood and nippels and ... i simply forgot this game until i stumbled upon it during a Steam sale.
Same happened to Diablo 3. One day i will probably play it, maybe i will even pay a low budget price, but it's just a game, not THE GAME anymore.
Its good to free oneself from the shackles of the "Must Have" marketing hype Final line in your post says it all man! And nicely said sir. |

| You have to make tons of worthless loot if you are going to operate on a IRL $$$ system...I'm not defending them...but I'm sure that has something to do with it. On another note...anyone see Wonder Boys with M Douglas and Toby Maguire? Douglas is a writer and and a pothead...can't make decisions in his writings and thus his current work has reached the thousands of pages mark...Just reminded me of Blizzard for some reason....they seem perpetually stuck in system changes and class tweaks...it started to get extremely annoying to me back in my WOW days. Just make a choice and live with it for a change. It will never be perfect. Especially when you try and have PvP and Non PvP operating in the same universe. IMO at least. |

| I have begged ever since EQ and the MMO market looked promising...for a SR game...I mean...it's a RPG nerd dream come true IMO...Fantasy, Dragons, Guns, Tech, GOOD GRAVY!....and now that have I grown much older in that time period...and my MMO lust has faded....they bring out....this.....sad excuse. At least it isn't what MS did to that franchise...but still. |

Love it. Ya, a once loved RPG game company sure has decided to put out some over-hyped, faux, lame RPG's as of late. RIP Bioware. |

I was in a beta phase that was back in March - May. And I can say that it is WoW in space. If that is something you dig...then go fer it. But it does NOT feel like a Star Wars game imo. I mean...I just don't think you can truly pull off Star Wars in an MMO setting anyways really. "Hello Jedi...go kill a bunch of space rats." But anyways. I think it could go down as the most expensive flop in history. I also love how they keep saying "operations" like it will disguise that it is the same ole tired "raid". |

Creston wrote on Aug 25, 2011, 10:54: Again, people, vote with your wallet. Simply never buy another game from Gamestop. They'll eventually go bankrupt anyway, since their foray into DD has been pathetically laughable. (as in, they haven't done shit shit with Impulse since they bought it.)
Creston ALWAYS vote with your wallet. Why anybody still gives money to ANY B&M dinosaur is beyond me...especially if they are not evolving with the times. Which I have yet to see one barely try.

Clearly it was video game based humor meant to inform that the wait is over. Lighten the hell up!! Man Tony!!!, good to know that some dudes are giving the short dudes some love. Does he still allow you to call him CliffyB? The Bleszinski part would be tough to pull off in a romantic puppy way...unless you tried a BooBoolenszinski....nah still tough. |

After being in a wave of the beta...don't set your expectations too high. Did you play any pvp? Where there any open battle areas that could capture the scale of combat shown in the video clips? The latest one is a bit more accurate to the gameplay, only a handful of players around.
But those first 2 video clips showed dozens of players on each side fighting. Jedi vs Sith brawl and the republic troopers attacking the sith on Alderaan, anything that comes close to that type of experience?
All the clips I've seen show this game as a little group of 3-4 running around battling a handful of enemies then moving to the next handful of enemies.
Does it ever break out into a battlefront style massive free for all where people can just do whatever they want and have fun?
The raid gameplay clip they showed had a dozen (?) or so players heading into battle but it seemed they were just all running at AI's? I did not try out the PvP part of SWTOR. I lasted about 2 weeks out of over a month of available time in beta. And I don't know where the NDA stands as of now...so I will say ...the combat system in PVE is extremely repetitive and boring. it's WoW with lightsabers IMO. Now I played WoW from release until about 6months ago....so I'm not bashing WoW..but it's time for something new and fresh don't ya think? Like I wanna feel like I felt the first time I played EQ. I know that's not going to happen most likely...(older, more jaded etc etc) but come on...it is still a bunch of "Hello random NPC, Hello Player, Go collect me 25 thingies, OK NPC brb. rinse repeat.
That's another thing....being a Star Wars fan... it doesn't feel very Star Warsy imo....I mean I dunno what they could do diff in an MMO setting and make something feel Star Warsy ... But they might as well just made it a generic Space MMO and it would have helped it in my eyes....
Anyways... mine is just one opinion ...take it as you will.... |

I played Rift for the free month.
I hope to be playing SWToR for a long time, because nothing else released in the last 7 years has even come close to expectations.
