Otherwise you're using memory that other things could use, thus when you activate other applications they aren't already in memory, thus it hits pagefile. Thrashing. This is due to the Windows 7 algorithm for caching, as it treats a 64-bit .exe in a different way (ASLR etc.) that ultimately increases the likelihood versus 32-bit if the memory is not actually needed/used. Again you have that backwards. The pagefile is hit if you have a LOW amount of ram that is MAXED out and then it hits the pagefile. If you have 8gb of ram your page file will be accessed very little. The best practice if you have 8gb + of ram is actually to remove the pagefile entirely. Also when you say something like Only if you actually need the memory. Otherwise you're using memory that other things could use That makes no sense. If you dont have something loaded into memory, its not loaded into your memory (or pagefile). See how that works? |

Although you have to keep in mind that Windows 7 takes 1 GB right off the top and then your video memory is virtually addressed, and even the minimum card is likely to be 1 GB, so right there's that's 2 GB reserved meaning the 2 GB that's left is easily managed with a 32-bit executable. In fact, it's likely to be better that way, as addressing more memory than you need only leads to thrashing (if mechanical) or excess writes (SSD) when the Windows algorithm interprets it as being a 64-bit process. Although I recall some games (GTA4 comes to mind) do perform better with 64-bit, however I feel that's largely due to poor optimization rather than any inherent advantages. You have that backwards, larger memory addressing = less 'thrashing' as you put it. |

Creston System restore didn't help, having the same issue. I'm just going to cut my losses and reinstall windows tomorrow. Thanks for the help all, sorry for the hijack... please feel free to discuss how $*#@ing awesome this driver is. If i were you i'd just extract the drivers from the .exe and update them manually. |

| All the 310* drivers has been pure shit, and these are no exception. In SLI mode /w XCOM there are no cover shields for objects, also there are missing menu's in the research/engineering parts as well. Also in another Firaxis game Civ5, there are random crashes /w SLI, only disabling SLI fixes these issues. This has been going on for all the 310.* releases with nvidia ignoring and deleting my posts about them in their forums. |

Creston RG3 is doing what he's doing on a team thats light years head of the Colts. IMO Luck deserves the Rookie of the year award. Colts are playoff bound, Redskins, very unlikely. |

You'd think they'd just put a toggle for it in the steam settings. |

I guess not According to the sales numbers its already a bigger success than 7, like it or not. Those aren't sales numbers per se, they are license numbers and there's a big difference between selling something at $15-40 per copy and $100+. Microsoft could coast on inertia for years anyway, numbers don't tell the whole story. Indeed, but since they dont have any manufacturing costs anymore, no boxes, no cd's/dvd's etc there's probably near the same amount of profit. Also what matters and what has always mattered is dominating the market, having the biggest percentage of market. |

@Verno indeed partnering with XBMC would be truly epic and impossible to beat!
@theyarecomingforyou you record a macro say from the desktop of you changing your monitor from one to the other, then you speed up that macro a rediculous amount (testing along the way). Its what my friend does, he's got the entire process down to 2s, and that includes the scream flickering back to default.....Also you can have a different macro+kb shortcut for any of those options you do manually.

| They should find a way to include netflix/hulu etc etc, those types of 'apps' or programs...add in a way to access mkv's/avi's/mp4's etc and you have a winner. |

theyarecomingforyou wrote on Dec 4, 2012, 05:37: The biggest issue with Big Picture mode is that it does nothing to help with multi-monitor setups. I have a 42" HDTV hooked up as a secondary monitor but it's too much effort changing the default monitor, then changing the in-game resolution and changing over my default sound system to HDMI. What's needed is for Big Picture mode to run on whichever screen it is launched from and make all games run on that screen - as it is even if you launch Big Picture mode from a secondary display it will launch on the primary display.
Big Picture mode is a nice idea but it's useless for me, and that's despite having a wireless X360 controller and a HDTV connected to my computer. It really is niche functionality, which is obviously just to test the interface for their upcoming hardware / console. May i suggest a macro program with a nice simple kb shortcut. Thats pretty much my friends setup, and he was going crazy having to switch back and forth his primary monitor all the time for certain things. Now he just uses a macro program and it switches in about 2s. |

Exactly.
So before you all get your panties in a bunch over $40, maybe you'll perhaps just sit this one out and give DB one last chance to do this. You mean besides police, fire department, public schools, infrastructure, and military? Ya nothing... |

What amazes me is that they are touting that most everything is proceduraly done, yet have absolutely nothing to show, whereas the 1 man team of Limit Theory who has apparently only been working on LT for 3 months has vast amounts to show.
Either the LT guy is a genius (but even then, how could a team of 200 not get as much work done in the past...oh what 6-12 years?)
Or there's just no reason to show anything as there was never any intention to work on/finish the game when then entire point was just a cash grab. |
