I'm also adopting the wait and see position on this one. As for Requirements, I 'only' have a 2500k but its OC'd to 4.7ghz (like many others have theirs) and i'd be suprised if a game thats not a RTS game makes it the bottleneck over the GPU in the next 3-4 years.

Leveled my Crusader to 70 on Hard, because he wasn't doing enough damage nor managed to take a beating at all. I didn't even remotely realize how crappy that class is until I continued with my lvl 60 barbarian and decided I could turn his game up to Torment 1.

I think i remember reading that the Monk and Barbarian classes both get only 60% damage dealt to them as opposed to all the other classes (which surprised me that Crusader wasnt given this buff)

Sounds like LoD had a lot more content-wise than Reaper does.

I disagree but that's fine. I would just mention that LoD at its launch only contained act 5 (of which the majority of players played just for pindle/baal runs), EDIT: two new classes, and slightly higher resolution. It wasn't until over two years after launch with patch v1.10 did the expansion hit its sweet potential. There's a lot more going on with RoS at its launch, particularly content and rewards wise. In my opinion anyway.

LoD added a ton of features, Runes, Charms, 2 classes, outfittable mercs, RoS isnt even comparable to LoD which to me is one of the best expansions for a game ever.

I've sideloaded some stuff on it already including XBMC. There is a small playback bug but one of the XBMC devs is working on it. Great little unit but its still very early, I would a few months for things to mature. Only disappointment so far is that Netflix results arent included in the voice search but hopefully that changes. Voice search itself is very accurate, much better than the Xbox One stuff I tried awhile ago. I loaded up Plex as well for a bit, the skin they use for it is way better than the one on my Roku 3. They say the USB port isn't working but I had a keyboard/mouse combo working on it. I was able to get some stuff off my NAS but oddly the USB external drive I tried plugging in didn't work correctly, I have to see if its mounting properly. I haven't experienced any stuttering with DirectPlay from Plex, everything (1080p mkv/etc) worked fine with no dropped frames.

Thing is blazing fast, no slowdown or other issues. When I get home tonight I'll be testing out its codec/format support in more depth.

Thanks Verno, really appreciate the review. Did you sideload Gotham XBMC or Frodo? I've heard conflicting things saying that frodo works but Gotham doesnt etc. Good to hear about Plex working smoothly (though i'm so ingrained /w xbmc its hard for me to ever ponder switching). Also what about DTS audio experience?

I'm going to test DTS passthru and all that tonight when I get off work and get the kid down. I wouldn't get one right now until things are more ironed out. I put 12.3 on there for awhile but it had no Mediacodec support for GPU acceleration so I swapped to a Gotham nightly that one of the devs hacked together quickly. I think its a pretty promising device overall though. I don't mind Plex but it reminds me too much of Netflix, I prefer XBMC with the Ace or Rapier skins so that's what I'll be focused on over the few next few days even if it means hacking it together myself.

As a media streamer its already easily the top one, moreso if they get HBO Go on there which they say is coming soon. Plex for local content works fine in my experience, I made sure nothing was being transcoded too. For XBMC things are still in the hacky stages so I'd wait a bit.

I'm still waiting to see if Logitech will ever issue an update to support this for my Harmony Smart Control hub too.

Very cool, i think i will take a wait and see attitude for the moment (not much choice since i think they're only available in NA). Keep us posted on how it turns out for you Verno!

Ordered one yesterday to try it out vs Roku...... Anyone else grab one?

Not available in europe (germania) yet, but it has piqued my interest. As long as it can side load apps then i'll be buying it for xbmc, otherwise the wait continues.

Edit:
So far initial impressions are that it doesnt do local streaming very well, with PLEX (stuttering) or XBMC, although its very new, so i'm holding my breath.

With each and every update this kid just reaffirms my belief that he's a genius. The Kickstarter money has already paid for itself just watching this kid work, the game is a bonus.

This game's economy i have a feeling is going to destroy Egosoft forever.

3 and 4 is kind of where the series lost me TBH, i'm hoping like others that this will be a big enough departure.

I remember losing Tropico 1 a bunch (on sufficiently hard settings). I'd like to have that experience with all the modern bells and whistles.

I do enjoy a good challenge. I actually get excited when i lose in a new game. There's nothing more boring to me then just a walk through experience

This Amazon FireTV thing looks ballin. Hulu, Netflix, Instant Video and it runs Android so I can probably run XBMC and get all of my local content too. Could finally be a true all in one HTPC. Quad core CPU, 2GB of memory, remote, etc. Not bad for $99, its ability to run XBMC will be the deal breaker for me since I want something that does local content too.

Edit: oh right link - http://gizmodo.com/amazons-fire-tv-everything-you-need-to-know-1556889628

I'm in the exact same boat as you, its all hinged on XBMC, if it runs it (dont see why it couldnt since its android based) then its game on!

It's funny that in order for anyone to start using it, they have to give it away for free. XD

My big fear here, though, is where will they then get their revenue from? It's only losing like $10 or $20 per device, I think, but I don't know if I trust wherever else they'll find that revenue.

If Microsoft stopped selling every product it has today it would still be fine just based off of its patents alone. Also Windows was never its primary money maker, i believe office blows it out of the water in revenue (and almost always has)

Welp, 4 hours in and much like Loverboy, I'm lovin' every minute of it. It's got 'one-more-turn'itis' written all over it. Had to force myself to quit so I could get some work done, heh. Visually it's a treat, and it really seems to be - so far - the best of HoMM meets Civ. So yeah, at this point I give it a hearty thumbs up.

Cool! Really glad to hear it. I need more TBS in my life

This is extremely old news. This is exactly the reason Humble changed the way the redemption of games works in the account management screen, what like 6 months ago? Instead of giving serial numbers to be activated (that could be resold), you have to enter your Steam info and assign the games to the account. Or gift them directly to a friend to be activated on their account.

While the linked article is scummy, I'm not all that thrilled about (apparently, if I understand you correctly) having to give my Steam login credentials to a third party website?

I assume (as its been atleast 6months since my last humble bundle purchase) that you just tell them your steam user name and thats it. But i'm just guessing here, it could be that it just makes too much sense.

Free?! What's the catch?

You just have to install Origin!

Sorry, too risky a venture.
I don't get this. How is Origin any different from STEAM?

In my case, most of my games are already on steam and i dont want to deal with the fragmentation, also although valve isnt a top of my list, it certainly is a buttload higher then EA. Thats pretty much it.
Don't want to deal with fragmentation? So you don't have Uplay either?

The best part of having multiple game folders and clients is that you often discover games you bought but forgot about, it's like Xmas every month lol

Or the realisation that you *may* have a games on special buying problem... nah

UPlay gets installed/uninstalled on a as needed basis. Steam is pretty much always installed. Other then that GoG has my back

Had a LAN party with a few buddies last weekend, CoH1 was indeed broken out. Eventually it got replaced by Men of War Assault squad (that steam sale coldnt of come at a better time). Never had any interest in CoH2 after seeing people who loved the first game meh about CoH2
