Seems odd to have Mantle support for something that dosen't need it.

Have you played RomeII by any chance? If the engine is anything like the one used for RomeII's strategy map then hell yeah they sure as fuck need it...

Civ series has never been a real time strategy game, they are always turn based. So ya, CPU > GPU

Erm, the strategy map of Total War games is Turn Based.

Which isnt that demanding on the GPU. Rome2's turn based map its the CPU thats more demanded of. For the RTS part its the GPU.

Mad Men season 7 lowest numbers since 2008.

Aren't people tired of Mad Men yet? It's a great show, but I'll watch a season, and then take a loooooong break from watching more. I don't think I'll even get seasons 6 or 7.

All TV shows should just last five years. Stuff gets stale after five years.

Also, that "decades old debt" thing is fucking unbelievable... "We can't prove you owe money, but we're taking it anyway. Fuck you."

Thanks government. You guys are the fucking BEST.

I was excited that Mad Men came back, then i watched the episode and i was like oh ya, more of exactly the same. I think this show has run its course, the 1 dimensional charactors with little to no arc is a bit out of place in this post breaking bad tv world.

What i really appreciate is that this came out of nowhere and is fairly close to release. As opposed to headlines touting the announcement of an announcement of an idea of a game thats 5 years off, which seems to be par the course for most of the industry.

Firaxis is doing a lot right lately.

Except in every other case where a game dev has a finite plan once funding is reached and then proceeds to meet those goals and not move the goal post back as development continues.

As I understand it, most of these stretch goals were already on the table; they were just marked as "if we have the money, we can hire the people we need to make them happen". As funding increases, they can "add" these features.

^ The point is to NOT set up un-moveable goals with the new features. But to roll them out when they are ready and are not rushed. Which goes to their pipeline scheduling and such. An as i said and another has said before. Almost all of these stretch goals from 500,000 to 35 million were all ideas from Chris Roberts ideas box and wishes and cut features of games like Freelancer and F2 and others. (Please things that Ben remembers)

He had a decade of thinking PEOPLE a decade...that's lots of planning. As he did his other hobbiy. (making movies)

Did he deliver on all those features of Freelancer? No he did not, whatever the reason.

What? Suddenly you're risk averse? Isn't that one of the major complaints gamers have about big name publishers these days; that none of them wants to take a chance?

I'm pointing out its uncharted territory. Could be good, could be bad, but its another thing to keep an eye on.

Windows XP is far from dead. It's just no longer supported by Microsoft and even that isn't true. I never knew there were so many drama queens on the internet. You would think the end of the world is near.

I think for the typical user that have no clue about security its doing them a service rather then a disservice. Or more likely their IT friends a service who wont have to deal with xp past its public support date.

Wow, the fanboism is this thread is just amazing to read. Its really eye opening.

First off, there's not one person in this thread that wouldnt love for this game to come out and be wildly successful (myself included).

Second people saying this is a 'pre pre alpha of the game' actually no, its a pre pre alpha of a MODULE of the game (remember the hanger module?) thats 4 months late, and doesnt look like its very close to being completed.

3rd So this isnt at PAX? Why does every video of it claim it is and we have an eye witness in this thread that says it is as well...

4th You gave money, great, awesome, but take off the blinders because this industry isnt known for following through with its promises and that includes Chris Roberts.

Again, i really really really hope this game comes out with every feature or atleast most (some?) then i'd be pretty damn happy. Until then it is what it is, some pretty graphics which i mostly attribute to its engine in a module of the game thats 4 months late thats still not released to its backers.
