Oh man, cant wait for this expansion! One of my favorite all time games. The dev's really do a great job. As for the combat, i'd just suggest trying out different chars and skills until you find something more to your liking.

We have full french keyboards in Quebec?!? Granted Quebec is a bit more protective of French than the actual French are.

Try visiting France and issuing the same statement.

It takes a lot of work chopping something up into so many fine micro sized DLC's.

You've no idea.

i dont know.. it takes 55 billion to make 11 billion.

that is a LOT of costs to cover to make a profit.

For chip makers, looks pretty good.

I think the main reason why PC sales have been leveling off is because we aren't seeing massive improvements from year to year. Lot of people treat buying a PC like they do a car as they splash out get a decent one and only replace it when it breaks. Only the enthusiasts or game players will actively seek out yearly upgrades or replacement parts.

Beyond that, there's not much for an enthusiast to spend their money on - I still run a 970 and a i7-2600K because there hasn't really been a compelling upgrade beyond that...

And many people can still be happy with a 570 i5 2500k.

My 2500k OC's to 4.4ghz on air without any voltage changes, its pretty rediculous. When i do adjust the voltage i can get to 5ghz with acceptable temps. Only thing i'm really looking to upgrade soon is pascal. Eventually i'll turn this 2500k into a server of some sort, but I dont see that happening very soon. Still has years of headroom left.

Just replaced my old keyboard with a logitech g710+ its a mechanical keyboard with cherry-mx brown's. Add to that my g13 and g400s I'm very happy with logitech lately. I even like their macro software and that all the controls for all 3 products i use are in the program.

i use a G602 Logitech gaming mouse but my mech cherry-mx brown kb is a ducky. gotta spread the wealth.

I've heard nothing but good things about those Ducky kb's.

I have had good luck with logitech products.
The 18 month battery life on the M280 sounds like a great laptop companion.

Xcom2..... I havent bought a new game in 6 months, this is the only title thats a must buy day1 release for me. All the others (Fallout4/Witcher3/Gta5) can wait until their cheap and pascal comes out to pump them up with graphical mods (or atleast as much as can be)

You guys think this is going to be too intense for a 7-8 year old? My son saw this on Steam and has been begging me for it ever since. The other FarCrys have way too mature themes, but this looks like it's just gore (which I'm hoping can be toned down in settings).

I finally let him play Assassins Creed Black Flag, which he loves, but I'm just concerned that this one might be too much.

According to the Ubi website, it's rated 'M for Mature' for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Nudity, and Sexual Content. ESRB doesn't seem to have the detailed synopsis on their site yet, but IMO the descriptors are enough to base your decision on.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. I agree, this is probably going to be too mature. Black Flag is also M, but I've been ok with that one, the language is fine for the most part and no sex scenes. I might just get this and play through it myself and find parts that he can do that aren't bad. We mostly play everything together so I can censor it pretty quickly if I have to.

I'm not a parent but I soon will be so take this with a grain of salt. I imagine that if your with him while he plays then your already ahead of the 99.9% of the rest of the parents out there. Kudos to you Sir!

With AMD and Nvidia both going to HBM2 memory in their next gen cards, it will cease to matter anyway as they'll be able to pack a lot more memory onto a single card.

Ahem.... "640K ought to be enough for anybody."

That said, this is the primary reason why i've been waiting for Pascal. Its been a long hard road for my twin 1gb fermi's

My experience as well. Pretty tough trying to pull off Welch independence when you got stack after stack of the English invading.

That would be pretty realistic, don't ya think?

Mercenaries are pretty overpowered. You should try to do it with alliances.

Infiltrate foreign kingdoms with your kin or expand your duchy by marrying the daughters of other Dukes and assassinating their heirs. The game gives you so many options.

Absolutely, and thats part of the fun. Although i'm not sure that Mercenaries drying up as is (atleast in vanilla) is as its intended or should be?

I keep wanting to get into this game but the overwhelming amount of DLC (and lack of DLC packs to even get started somewhere) is extremely daunting. i don't want to buy in and find out later that I need to spend upwards of $100 on DLC to get balanced gameplay.

Can anyone here recommended a "you need these DLC's to start" list for CK2?

I've actually only played (and enjoyed) Vanilla. I'd like to hear some Blues user reviews as well.

I think my biggest issue with CK2 (and I don't know if an update ever fixed it), was that if you were a smaller kingdom... to protect yourself in terms of military you had to rely on mercenaries. However the game did not refresh the stock of mercenaries available over time, so eventually you just get stomped by a large nation because there's no more way to hire additional troops even if you had a relatively strong economic engine.

Numinar wrote on Jan 7, 2016, 11:54:
This game is the gift that keeps on giving.

I cannot think of a reason why they would make a CK3 when this platform seems capable of so much more than the initial (perfectly awesome) design as they keep expanding. I think I would have preferred more expensive DLC with unit/ruler graphics and associated tunes bundled in but hey, whatever. I'm definitely due for a play through soon though, and the council was already one of my favourite parts of the game so this content drop seems like it will be more than worth it.

My experience as well. Pretty tough trying to pull off Welch independence when you got stack after stack of the English invading.

The problem for SD is most of their fan base comes from LA so they stand to lose the most by not moving. Having said that I hope they stay, i hope the raiders stay, and i hope my LA Rams resurface
