InBlack - Well said Johnny Mullet, fuck freedom of speech the armed forces need to be sanctified! Kedyn - I guess the First Amendment only matters when you're expressing a certain viewpoint. No one infringed on anyone's right to free speech. This was canceled due to the overwhelming amount of people exercising their right to free speech to complain about it. As far as I know, there were no legal ramifications that stopped this from being made, so bringing the law into this isn't accurate.

Bummer. It's funny, Dragon Age PC gets yanked back by consoles and BF1943 PC gets left behind while console versions come out months ahead.
Still looking forward to at least trying it to see if it recaptures some of the old school fun with new tech. |

If you don't like people responding to your opinion with their own, you shouldn't make it in the first place. I could care less about how you feel about my opinion on the matter. That's what you don't seem to get. You're still ranting about your Valve crusade that you're too dense to realize you derailed the topic. No matter how many times/ways Verno or I tries to explain that to you. THAT'S my qualm.
We hear the same bullshit from the same people... Funny, because all of your posts have a sort of "same bullshit" ring to them too, I'm gathering. Pot and kettle?
Claiming Valve "owes" you something is ridiculous. Hey look, a remnant of the original topic. With your twist of course. As I've told you before, this is based off of your experience and value of the game alone. To have a sensible discussion, you have to consider that others liked it, but didn't get the same longevity that you did and believe the game lacked content and that this content was due. |

I made a general comment without names for a reason, but you still took it personally...obviously because you were one of the tools claiming that Valve "owed" this to their customers, along with n0slet claiming this content should have been there from the start. Likewise, you could have done everyone a favor and shut your mouth from the start, as you've added no applicable substance to the topic. We were naturally discussing the value of the content and then you come in like a outraged twit, stomping your feet because people don't share your thoughts on the matter. Bravo. No wonder people call you a shill. |

Evil Timmy - Really enjoyed the 2-3 hours I put into this game today... /agree... I put some time in last night and really enjoyed the style. The hitboxes did get a little frustrating for me, but I'm getting used to them. It's also a lot more linear than I thought it was going to be, but there are positives in that too. The rest is all pretty impressive. I payed the full $20, but that's the price I had to pay to wait for reviews. |

...so not sure who you think you are talking to... No, surprisingly to you I'm guessing, I don't know who you are or what your tendencies are. But I'm getting a good idea now.
"Whiner" is name-calling? Seriously, I hope you have thicker skin than that, considering this IS the internet. You're the one getting your panties in a bunch over my general comment. Call it unwarranted labeling then, I don't care. Your "general comment" was more of an annoyance than anything because you seem to be ranting to nobody in this thread but yourself. Doesn't seem relevant here, but hey, if you're carrying arguments over from other threads, more power to you. But don't be surprised when someone asks wtf you're talking about. |

4D-Boxing - I Agree with you on pretty much everything except that COD4 has the pretty much the same problem with spawn deaths. I still love the game but... spawn killing in CoD4 & Crysis Wars is the worst I've ever seen.
CoD4 ..I really do not get how that title got so little support in terms of content. Ut3 that was the biggest flop in along time got way more support despite the CliffB syndrome. I wasn't comparing gameplay elements, just how the one is supported way more than the other. Infinity Ward puzzles me at times. They develop one of the best online FPS franchises around, yet aside from maybe 1 or 2 map packs/patches, you hear nothing else till the next release. Granted, their games usually stand on their own anyway, but it would be nice to see more maps post release.
Regarding COD4 spawn killing, I specifically seek out servers with 14 or less people to avoid that and nade/artillery/chopper spamming. Plus the gameplay tends to slow down a little to something between SWAT and Quake, which is my sweetspot.
Verno - Call of Duty World at War is actually decently supported by Treyarch, I was really shocked. The zombie maps are fun, they close off exploits regularly and have double XP time fairly often. You should check it out. The only thing that bothers me is the MP40, it's just too powerful in that game. I actually just picked it up this weekend and have been having a good time with it. While catching up on patches, I did notice Treyarch is doing a great job supporting it.
LittleMe - WTF are you guys talking about with spawn killing in Crysis Wars? The game has a good spawn system that spawns you away from enemies. Maybe the spawn deaths weren't as bad as I remember, but it wasn't great. From what I recall, the game just seemed very chaotic and you died from who knows what and from who knows where. I can appreciate a good run and gun game, like Quake, but the weapons/char models/physics in Crysis Wars lends itself to be more tactical than it is now. |

That's usually how it works.
Some think we are shills for paying $50 and enjoying countless hours on the content that is there, despite what 'they' consider an incomplete game. I think 'they' are whiners for harping on about it, even when the new content and game mode is here. Both based on our experiences with the game (or lack thereof in a few cases). Maybe name calling and defensiveness is how it works for you, but it's hardly a decent conversation.
If someone has called you a shill or foolish for paying $50 and liking it, they're no better. I happen to disagree with the way you value the game and I believe this content is late and due. But I don't think less of you for feeling the opposite. Which is how you're acting towards whoever else in this thread. |

I'm judging people by the fact that many of them have gone out of their way to remind everyone in every L4D thread that they think the game is short on content, Valve hasnt produced enough new content yet, and that it's not worth the $50, let alone $25. Some have yet to even play the game, but comment anyways. Again, you're judging them as whiners based on your experience and opinion of the game. You value it differently than others. I don't think they're going out of their way to comment about L4D in a L4D thread. Their complaints are relevant, maybe not to you, but to some they are.
If someone is posting w/out having played, then yes, there isn't much credit there.
Considering this is still being mentioned in a thread for a news post about new content being released....yes I call that whining. I'm not sure who you were addressing when you first posted. But I think the real debate lies in whether the content is due or whether we should be grateful. Not whether it adds value to the product or not. It does, that's a given. |

Dagok - Whine Whine Whine...L4D short on content my fucking ass.
I've got more out of L4D to date than the majority of $50 games these days. Hell I think I had 30 hrs on the demo before launch and another 50 hrs in the 2 weeks after release...nevermind the time since then. This is where it gets purely subjective. You're judging people as "whiners" based on your opinion of the game and it's content.
I personally don't agree that there was enough content initially. Granted I didn't get the same level of enjoyment that you did, so I didn't play it as much. I played it a good amount and came to my own personal conclusion that it still didn't contain enough content to warrant a $50 price tag.
LMN8R - I talked to a guy from Valve at PAX last year who was doubtful that Versus mode would make it into the game on release at all. So I'm happy to have had 2 of the 4 campaigns to play it on, instead of none at all. This is lowering your expectations for quantity of content in my opinion. I understand the debate of quantity vs quality, and if I had to choose a situation like with L4D, I'd stick with quality. But it's Valve we're talking about, so quality is a given and some feel that there wasn't enough quantity.
Again, that said, them releasing content like this is great and adds to the value of the product. But to state that's it's "FREE" and we should be happy for that... well I say it depends who you ask. |

LMN8R - As for the other two campaigns in Versus mode, no, there's nothing that said they "should have been accessible already". I'm certainly not disappointed I'm getting them later, especially considering that they're FUCKING FREE. I pretty much agree with everything you said except this. The content was, for all intents and purposes, missing. Not only should it be free, they owe it to the purchasers to release it. I believe we're entitled to this particular content.
That said, I do appreciate developers like Valve that continue to support a game so thoroughly post release. |

| I purchased Warhead mainly for Crysis Wars. I was seriously disappointed with the gameplay and many others seem to share that mindset. For me, spawn deaths were rampant and it just seemed very chaotic overall. If cheating/exploiting contributed to this and they can fix it, maybe it will have a chance. But I gotta say, I'm quite impressed with the level of support this is receiving. I wish COD4 would receive this type of support. In the sense of new content, COD4 is solid otherwise. |

The positive aspect is a game gets purchased and the consumer doesn't get screwed. Furthermore, NKD said earlier he purchases more games trying>buying because otherwise he wouldn't gamble with his money, which would result in him buying less. But I'm sure you'll bring your trust in someone's word into the debate again.
I never brought up bargain bins or purchasing later for a cheaper price, you did. |

I don't see anyone agreeing with you but I digress. Read. NKD and Bill Borre brought this topic up and I continued.
That's my point, you haven't really said anything except "I will buy it later" and we've already proved the logical fallacy present there. You just ignore it. It's hard to continue a discussion when you ignore what people are saying and keep saying the same thing over and over. So yeah I guess we're at an impasse. I can say the same for you. All you're saying is "that it contributes to the problem" and provided what for so called proof? Oh I see, your own personal theory on the matter. You can't even agree to disagree on a matter you're guessing about just as much as I am. Except I know they're getting PAID. I'm not ignoring what you consider "proven", I simply don't agree with you. Get over yourself.
You are part of the problem, not the solution. Quit focusing solely on the negative aspects of this. I never claimed to be part of any solution, but I do defend that I'm not part of the problem. I'm not saying this approach should be heralded, but it shouldn't be considered thievery, the way you guys make it out to be.
I'm not feigning ignorance. I know full well what I'm doing, have no qualms about it and I do not consider it wrong. You may and that's where we differ. |

Likewise, you're missing our point. Myself and others have told you why it doesn't matter when money is exchanged. There's not much else to be said on our end either. But there will be nothing for me to remember when I become disappointed with PC gaming, because I don't believe this contributes to the problem the way you guys do. So yeah, we're going to have to agree to disagree.

| Informative and contains some truth to it. But it's not necessarily on target. If they receive a sale at the end of the day, that's what they want. As I've said before, the honest "pirates" are an insignificant number when it comes to the 100,000 people Dades speaks of. We hardly impact the scene and we're not going to make or break it. So, yes, people who pay have the right to bitch when bad ports come to PCs. |

So your argument(s) is, since you can't trust me, that the scenario of someone trying and then buying is still pirating? Congratulations, you've successfully merged two unrelated topics. I'm talking about a situation where money can be exchanged, refuting the accusation of piracy.
Trust me? Whether or not I do what I'm saying here is not the freakin point.
Let me put it another way since, for some reason, we keep coming back to personal trustworthiness. Dades/Verno, if someone downloads a game, determines that they like it and then purchases it. Do you consider that piracy?

No one can take your word for it. This is Internet, people say a lot of things. I'd like to believe that if my car was unlocked and left alone for 4 days that no one rob it but I lock my car anyways because I understand human nature the same way a bank has a vault for a reason. If you're downloading the game regardless of intentions, you're pirating it. That's the publishers view as well. They have no idea that Elessar from BluesNews.com swore up and down that he was gonna go run out and pay for it later. Right, but for the sake of what you and I are talking about here, I'm saying I try before I buy and you say I'm pirating. I tell you that I buy it if I like it or discard it if I don't. I'm saying this is a reasonable thing and since money is exchanged, it's not pirating. Whether or not you believe me is not the point. If that's all we discussed, these would be endless, boring personal debates. |

Verno - You can say it's reasonable and I may agree with you but that's not how the industry views it and how the industry views it will determine how many games we get, demos we receive and so on. Understandable.
theyarecomingforyou - I'm sorry but that excuse just doesn't fly. With who... you? Does for me and I don't consider myself a pirate. And I'm sure there are lot of people on both sides of the fence.
Where do you draw the line between whether it's worth paying for or not? That's up to the person and whether they're satisfied with a product or not. Unfortunately the way they have it is it's all or nothing. You have no option to return a game if it's not entertaining or doesn't work. At least with a movie you can rent, or go see one for a fraction of the cost.
Are you honestly saying you've never downloaded a game, completed it and never paid for it? When I was a punk kid, I did. I consider myself a pirate back then and it was wrong. What I do now versus then is very different and people who earn my money get it.
And what about the games in between, where you play them for several hours but then decide not to buy them? At the end of the day you're getting entertainment for free that you should be paying for. Like I said before, it's all or nothing with this product. Maybe if they allowed renting or lowered the prices, it would be more reasonable.
You're pirating games... stop trying to pretend you're justified in doing so. Stop trying to pretend everything is black and white. |
