Brutal Legend did suck though.

Yeah, it sure did.
I disagree with both of you. It wasn't game of the year, but I certainly wouldn't go as far to say it sucked. The visual style and overall theme of the world was incredibly cool and the gameplay was serviceable enough to get you through that world. Also found the dialogue to be pretty funny.

Exactly.

Man, they just used incredibly poor judgment on this. Even the apology seems a bit off. Weirdos.

I imagine this will be like a bunch of Laguna Presa maps which, in theory, sounds cool within a jungle setting, but in reality it ends up being a massive sniper-fest. No thanks.

That is usually the direction most Mafia 2 DLC threads are going.

We need more tears, foot stomping, and tantrums in this thread, please.
From the looks of it, you seem to be the only one being over dramatic. Got one guy saying the game is fragmented and he'll wait till they're actually finished (which I agree with) and you got another guy who's genuinely interested in the game. So not sure how that translates to tears and foot stomping. Must be taking a vibe from previous Mafia II threads or somethin.

Yep, Monte Cristo dropped it and Focus Interactive picked it up. So hopefully they'll refine and fix many of the issues the original had. I've always enjoyed SimCity, but without an updated release, I'm pulling for Cities XL 2011.

21. Re: PC Battlefield 1943 (Not) Released [Updated] Sep 9, 2010, 10:07 Elessar

Update: Unfortunately, this all seems to be some sort of mix-up. Here's a tweet from EA explaining: "BF 1943 PC is not available. This is an error on EA store. We are working to sort it out."
Over the last few months I've truly come to realize what a clusterfuck DICE is. They have to patch the crap out of their games to make them playable, essentially finishing them post release. They've mis-informed customers like with this 1943 slip up. And on top of all that, take on multiple major projects that spreads them even thinner. They can't finish one damn project let alone 4 or 5. Sure, they eventually make entertaining games, but the lack of organization and polish that company has is astounding.

Great concept though the graphics were awful imo.

Understatement of the year. The graphics are a horrible mess. At least this will get some players in the game. There were zero when I signed up a couple of months ago. I honestly don't know why this game gets so much good press. It's like they didn't try it.
"They" didn't do anything. The game was largely developed by one guy, Eskil Steenberg. Saying the graphics are horrible in relation to this type of endeavor is a pretty shallow statement. Personally, I've never played, but I have looked at vids and it's an ambitious project and certainly isn't out there to win any graphics awards, rather, it looks to impress with innovation. In short, know a little bit before you flame.

Personally, I couldn't care less if it uses matchmaking or not. I enjoy the intended playercount and I don't like the mod scene, so if I get the performance of a dedicated server and I don't have to worry about picking a server running paintball or with NO STANDING! TACTICAL REALISM! rules, it's the best of both worlds.
LOL /agreed

If nothing else at least VAC doesn't create tons of client related hassles. Punkbuster has had so many problems with installation and whatnot over the years that I never want to see it in a product again.
This.

Also, I don't mind a lower player cap at all. I could never understand how people can enjoy 24+ player fragfests. With lower player counts, the game has a more tactical, skillful feel to it. As opposed to getting spawn killed a half dozen times because the game is trying to squeeze you into an overpopulated map.

Verno wrote on Sep 2, 2010, 13:33:
Whoa holy shit, I glossed over that in the press release, good catch man. Only one server provider?! Fuuuuuck that, just went to a no way, no how buy to me.
I actually don't mind this either. Beats the hell out of matchmaking and I grew out of mods from when I was a teenage gamer. To me this is the best of both worlds. A controlled environment where you know the game is being played as it was intended and balanced for and the capability to go back to a favorite server or browse for one you like.

Speaking of rabbling, you two are missing the point entirely. I'm not suggesting you value products as I do, so you can quit stomping your feet about that. If you'd read, I'm not talking about the DLC's worth, rather it's exclusion from the game that could of used it. It's the principal issue I have about charging for DLC on a game that was released 7 days ago. And my amazement at the people willing to support this extortion so passionately.

I'd rather they release the DLC now while I'm still interested in the game. Intentionally waiting months to release optional content doesn't help anybody.

DLC is the future. Most gamers enjoy it. Go pirate the shit if you don't like the price or need to save your money for adult diapers or Viagra.
So you're one of the drones who haphazardly tosses his money at these game companies. If you can't see why the timing is horrible and why this shit should be included in a game that was just released (where people are complaining about the lack of side missions), then you're just one of the blind sheep who enables said companies.

I'm not against DLC and it's not the future, genius, it has been around for awhile now. I just think there's a right way and a wrong way to release DLC. I shouldn't have to explain further for you to understand the difference.

Been said a million times and I'll say it again. Absolute bullshit they're releasing DLC so close to the game's initial release. Humor us and wait a few months, assholes. That's not too much to ask.

What seemingly is, though, is asking for this content to be part of the damn game. Stripping down depth and content to nickel and dime once again. Awesome.

This isn't a black and white situation here. There are more possibilities than it only being a crappy arcade rail shooter OR an X-Wing flight sim.

It seems like most people (including myself) are just disappointed in how shallow the gameplay looks in that trailer. I'm not looking for sim-like depth, but certainly more depth than that sad display of gameplay footage. Start with taking the leash off for freedom of movement ffs. Weaksauce indeed.

Ant wrote on Aug 19, 2010, 10:12:
I will stick with original X-Wing, TIE Fighter, and X-Wing Alliance.
Um, good for you? If you were looking for a flight sim in a third person, character driven MMO you were sadly mistaken to begin with.

Again, people shouldn't expect a robust flight sim in this type of MMO, but we certainly should expect more than what they've shown us.

While it might sound a bit dumb housing criminals in a district of Gotham, it's fairly obvious how they ended up there. Everyone on here (and presumably elsewhere) has said 'please set it in Gotham', and the only way to do that while still including a healthy supply of goons to beat up is to do something like this. I guess it would still have made more sense to just have them take over a few city districts, but then there wouldn't be a logically defined border to hold the player in.
Good point. A criminal rebellion sounds more realistic than a prison district, but I'm sure they'll pull it off regardless. I'm just happy it's going to be in a city setting.

Agreed. I'm glad it doesn't take place at the Asylum again and I was hoping it would take place in Gotham, but I'm not sure how or why a prison district would work in the middle of a city.

Regardless, consider me stoked.

New weapons aren't going to convince players to replay the full campaign. Why they don't get this is beyond me. I can't stand this nickel and dime shit. Pack all your piddly DLC releases up and release a proper continuation of the story through an expansion. That or release a substantial side-story, tia.

I actually don't mind the new perspective a different mode on the same map gives you. It's familiar, yet different. Don't get me wrong, I'd appreciate an all new map as much as the next guy, but this is certainly an entertaining way to mix up the gameplay.
