Oh, yeah, and I forgot to mention - you could do it in Just Cause 2 so it absolutely should be in DX:HR! That was like a year ago! |

But this time I've met that guy, his name's Minecraft. He taught me how to dig out myself from this basement using only 1 hand. I think Minecraft paved the way for a lot of fresh development on the PC. It all begins by punching a tree! |

I get pwned on the third demo level because of their multiple rocket launchers. That may be because I'm not thinking about it the right way.
I remember when I first started playing Just Cause 2 I got served because I was trying to play it like a FPS. I had to adapt. Hopefully it's the same with Frozen Synapse? |

| I played the demo of Frozen Synapse... I found the first two levels alright but the third was mad - they had two rocket launchers to my one and they seemed to know exactly where I was. In the full game do you get to choose weapons or does it play out like the demo levels? |

Squirmer wrote on Aug 13, 2011, 02:30: The thrust of the guy's post is that they took the game back in the DX1 direction instead of what Invisible War did, because even minor changes can change the essence of Deus Ex -- while at the same time totally ignoring the rather dramatic changes they've made to the 'DX formula', like frequent 3rd person, frequently taking control away from the player, having tons of cutscenes, having a less interactive and responsive environment and so forth. I would argue those are much more the 'essence of Deus Ex' than having multiple types of ammo. Jeez. notsureifserious.jpg
I could argue each point but frankly I think you're just trollin'. Seriously, have you had any hands-on experience with HR?
Also, more Deus Ex! |

My most memorable moment in Invisible War was hacking the security bot right after leaving the academy and having it blow the thugs away by the inclinator. Not many other good memories with that one.
On a lighter note, two weeks to go!!!! |

Also, if you fuck around in HQ too long like I did, all the hostages are killed, except for one. Which changes the upcoming mission. It also keeps track of, when exploring HQ, if you happen to stumble into the women's bathroom to overhear the latest gossip. I MEAN, SO I'VE HEARD.
I really like the cover system, which you use by approaching an object and holding the right mouse button. From there, you can blind fire, pop up/around and do aimed fire, or easily roll to another cover point. The only thing I don't like is it doesn't seem to let you use an open door as cover. Yeah, I did that the first time too as I was snooping around offices reading up on the smuggling. I willfully ignored the warnings and ended up being reminded in various conversations, barks, and I think it was in the newspaper too, about the deaths of those hostages.
There's also a nice option where you can toggle cover instead of holding the button down. Sometimes I use the cover system and other times I disengage it, depending on which is better at the time.
I like how I can open the door without having to be right in front of it by using the cover. I also like how if they are nearby they respond to the fact the door just opened.
This game is calling my name like a Siren, and I must avoid the rocks until it is released!

Do publishers really consider pre-order numbers post release when deciding to green light a follow-up? Surely all that matters is final sales. You need to lighten up, Francis. What happened, did you get burned by previous pre-orders? It's like you have a vendetta about pre-orders.
Let go. Move on. |

Generally I don't pre-order games. I wait for them to be released, measure feedback, and wait for the appropriate price. I only just picked up New Vegas.

Also remember with DX:HR that many were burnt by the consolitis-infested plaguebearer Invisible War. They may not be so keen to jump in with both feet but wait until the buzz hits them via word of mouth.
Personally, I haven't pre-ordered yet as I am waiting for my bills to come through so I know exactly what I can afford, but then I'll be pre-ordering. At risk of sounding like a parrot - This is the kind of game that should be supported with pre-orders so that just maybe the message will get through that these kind of games should be encouraged!
