A modern X Wing with all the new physics tech (for destruction effects, imagine starships exploding into bits with deforming, scorching and tearing metal instead of the old "boom...boom...BOOOM**gone**") and new graphics techniques (headsway in the cockpit, seeing enemies from further away, new fancy HUDs). Stick a basic FPS engine on and you can have boarding parties.
Does X Wing work on XP or 7?
EDIT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSt-jucEv0s That's 14 year old tech. Imagine how amazing it could look now. |

Not unless violent movies, books, music etc has to carry the same warning, and even then, the fuck are you smoking, joe?
If you're in the market for labelling reform, go look at those "alternative medicines", they blatantly lie and provably cost the public money and put their health at risk. |

Finga, you're supporting my statement, even if the sample size is a little small to deduce anything anyway.
KAOS's previous offerings (Desert Combat, Frontlines:Fuel Of War) have been extremely multiplayer focused. |

The PS2 Metal Gears have aged pretty well, I don't think a remake is necessary. 3 would probably benefit from the increased graphical power of the PS3 though, it chugged at times on the PS2.
And I love MGS2, so any excuse to play it again is good for me. |

Something I only just realised, but these guys *are* Haven and Hearth. This is their next project.
They have 2+ years of experience running a game like this, they know how to make the mechanics so that griefing is minimal.

I am playing a game similar in concept, Haven and Hearth. Permadeth for characters, with the new incarnation having its stats reset but you keep 25% of the skills and experience points (or 75% depending on a certain setting). Both mobs and players can attack and kill you, but for players to do so they have to purchase an expensive skill.
It works out fairly well. If there's a notorious murderer, you can appeal on the forum to Rangers - strong players who can track down and kill a murderer.
Fairly small (3-5 thousand, only ~1k at once) playerbase, very large world.
I'll keep my eye on this one. |
