I agree, thanks to cel-shading the original XIII still looks good today. It doesn't play so well (checkpoints, forced stealth, no ragdoll) but if it did then it would have been ahead of its time.
A good example of why artstyle > tech in graphics. |

We need a big push for games with extremely modest sysreqs (and that aren't pavlovs dogshit, obviously). Everyone has a laptop, everyone's laptop can play deus ex or age of empires, assuming you have a mouse too.
Back in the day everyone had a desktop, and sure, you couldn't play the latest games at the highest resolution on it, but they were at least playable iirc. The average pc used to be more powerful before £300 laptops came along. |

Colonisation-type MMO's (Wurm, Haven And Hearth, Salem) are probably my favourite type of game at the moment.
I enjoy a focus on crafting and exploitation of natural resources (ie not "lol lets go raid the dragons den guys"). |

and increased player control (e.g., on-screen prompts with button-press sequences). Apparently QTE's count as "increased player control", even though QTE's take control away from the player.... |

"Savings of 100 millions" ie money Valve were never going to spend anyway, making that figure as reliable as "$x lost due to piracy".
At least they're offering a pathway for translations to be created. |

| I thought FC2 could have been a great game, but was hamstrung by bad design decisions. I have absolutely no desire to play FC2 ever again but FC3 looks like it might be somewhat good. Not day-1 good, but maybe day-30 |
