Ah, homosexuality threads on blues, mystifyingly worse than piracy threads.

Gene therapy? Seriously? Just accept that people are different, and that just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's objectively bad. Don't fix what isn't broken.

You could put them on bus-stop ads. Captive audience with nothing to do but read the ad/scan the code.

Looking forward to seeing these gaudy blobs of extrusion-molded plastic in a car boot sale in 5 years. Collectors pieces my ass.

It looks like it'll be a textbook example of how mainstream devs can't even begin to cope with a complex game like DF. It might be worth a play if you like management games, but that's as far as it goes.

DF will be legendary through all time. Yeah, shame about the interface I guess, but if you can get past it, man.

We can all agree that most of the money went on advertising, voiceovers and licenses for SW content, and not on the actual game design, right?

German law differs from the US in many ways, but a Limited Liability Company operates under very loose rules regarding ownership and governance which are fine for a small business but make it quite unattractive to investors. Forming a proper corporation and changing the name from "ABC LLC" to "ABC Inc", which is just about the same thing as bitComposer has done, also means that the company structure has changed and that is now required to observe the laws appliying to corporations, many of which exist to protect shareholders and investors.

So, yes, when investing in a company the last few letters of the name do make a big difference.

As for changing 'games' to 'entertainment', it allows the new (and expensive to form) corporation to branch out into related fields in the future without dragging an inaccurate corporate name along with them. If you were investing in a film project being proposed by a "Games" company then you would naturally be worried that they don't have the skills and experience to pull it off. That's the kind of thing that an "Entertainment" company does instead.
I knew what AG and GmbH stood for, it just seemed incredible that they'd change Games to Entertainment, when they're clearly not going into film any time soon.

So the nebulous "entertainment" sounds better than "games"? Surely if you were investing in a company, you'd look a bit deeper than the name?

Just take away the pavlovian stat system and there'll be much less of an incentive to cheat.

Yeah, because people never cheated in games without stats. I don't remember a single cheater in CS or Quake or...

Wait, no, none of that is true.
I didn't say it would stop cheating, but a good score in this game has implications beyond the current match and this gives an incentive to cheat (to unlock weapons for later, when you may feel like playing fair but with all the items), and fixing that would eliminate one of the incentives to cheating, as well as making the game fairer overall.

Over 30 years ago I was eating a hostess cupcake as I walked through a back passageway at the power plant I worked in.I took the paper that the cupcake was on and slapped it aginst the wall where it stuck for no less then 4 years.I retired last year and before I left for the last time I took a walk through the area and there was still a circle on the cement wall from that cupcake after more that 30 years.Lets see some health food beat that.
That's quite impressive. I hope the cupcake itself didn't leave a mark on you.

There's only one other top secret jaw dropping unannounced game I still know about. That one was in concept exploration when I heard about it, so I don't even know if it ever moved beyond that. It's one of the few games I think would create the same excitement this announcement does.
Let me guess... X-Wing (or one of the other space sims) remake? AAA Dwarf Fortress? Faithful Star Control 2 AAA remake? A new MMO that is a proper game in its own right, and merely also features MM components?

...anyway, please tell us when this 2nd thing is about to be announced. This news makes me want to finish that game of UFO: Alien Invasion I had on the go.

Neat idea. ROMs are so available and easy though, it's not really useful for anyone but purists and museum-keepers.
