News Comments > More GTA V Indications?
7. Re: More GTA V Indications? Mar 29, 2011, 10:53 justice7

Personally i'd like to see a new Vice City game.

Are the 90s old enough now to have a 90s themed GTA?

is it just me, or do the blizzard developers sound pretty high on themselves?

Sticking with Rift thanks. Enjoy your 'fame' Blizzard. I liked you better when you were a small company.

Okay so, you have the Developer and the Hardware manufacturer saying "We'd like to go around the DirectX API"

Well, you have the people in agreement who are needed to make it happen. So then make it happen!

You don't need microsoft's permission NOT to use DirectX. wtf?

with a statement like this, it makes me believe blizzard is very out of touch with gamers these days.

Games for gamers, certainly not by them.

If you are on an ISP that routinely changes your IP address, you will get re-coin locked every time. It might require an email to Trion support.

If you've not done that, and just complained here; i don't know what to tell you.

News Comments > RIFT Founder's Pricing Plan Extended
11. Re: RIFT Founder's Pricing Plan Extended Mar 10, 2011, 15:48 justice7

The problem now is, in order to remain competitive (that is, competitive with WoW) you need the capital to be able to push out new content like they do.

The standard has been set, and subscriptions aren't going anywhere. People will continue to complain about monthly fees in a video-game, however those people will stick to the games which have none.

Rift is thriving right now, over 100 servers launched.

Rift seemed like it might offer an interesting new dynamic, with Rifts opening up right next to places where the NPCs you need for your current quests are, forcing you to either join a big public raiding party to close the rift or to run away and go do something else for a while. But it quickly gets mechanical. I originally signed up for 6-months of Founder's pricing, but after playing a couple of days I cancelled my sub and plan to let it lapse after the included one-month trial. Overall, it's okay, but there just aren't many moments of amazement, and most gameplay consists of "go kill 10 XXX". The graphics are a bit shinier than your average previous-generation MMO, but there's very little that's actually new here.

How far have you made it in the game? I am level 38 now, and the open faction PvP adds a whole other dynamic.

Perhaps if you're not interested in PvP, this isn't a whole lot different than other MMO's, but if you are, this is a very different game.

During one raid against and invasion, the Guardians (50+ of us) were fighting an event boss, all in a huge line to the east of it. On the other side, a huge line of 50+ Defiant doing the same thing, attacking the same boss.

When the boss dropped... ever seen Braveheart?

News Comments > RIFT Interview
24. Re: RIFT Interview Mar 7, 2011, 17:06 justice7

The interface looks like WoW? WoW's interface looks like Everquest and Asheron's Call. So what.

Also, for those who HAVE played Rift, They are likely still enjoying the game. For those who have not, are calling for Rift's death just like every other MMO that has come out lately.

For those in the know, this game has pulled me right in. I don't give two flying shits what the rest of you have to say about it. I'm not even going to think WoW's even an option anymore, it isn't. Why would I play something so inferior?

All of these comparisons to WoW, yet Rift does so many small things so differently, it isn't even the same genre.

Dynamic pve mixed with world pvp. Invasions, rifts, pvp...

doubters will be dumbfounded at the 100 servers Rift has, and will continue to thrive.

Trion has done it right.

I hope it doesn't kill wow at all, wow players are some of the worst at pvp.

F2P inside a year.

I am quite tired of your posts. I don't post often, but i've been here for a long time. You bash nearly every single game out there, especially MMO's.

No one has managed to make a decent zombie game yet. Zombie shooters? sure.. but a true, Zombie Survival game? Not even a single game has come out with that type of gameplay.

So now we're over saturated with zombie arcade games, and it's getting stupid. I want a George A Romero style zombie survival game, where you're basically fucked.

having not played WoW a whole lot, but I did play Warhammer Online, RIFT is a very nice transition. I personally love the game, and regardless of the troll's saying "$5 or F2P in a year", I humbly submit that you're wrong.

Rift is going to be a successful game, I very much doubt it will see WoW numbers, but it will continue on as a profitable and very good game. The development team knows their stuff, and that's important.

I bought it, have been playing the beta's and loving it. Don't really care what others think, i'm having fun.

WAR is a classic example of an MMO that had so much potential, utterly fail because of how it was managed. I wanted to love WAR so much, but the developers never listened to the warning signs the fans were giving them and continued screwing everything up and going as far as just deleting things they couldn't fix (like forts).

And I still can't believe the pile of crap they just gave the last remaining fans in the way of an "expansion" that screwed the game up even more. It's almost as if they've wanted it to fail from day 1.

I'm one of those that are saddened whenever an MMO dies and goes offline forever, but WAR is one where I'll be cheering good riddance the day it bites the dust.

If they could release the game with its original concept, and hold true to it instead of making massive cuts and concessions, it could potentially have been a huge huge success.

Instead, they cut their own balls off and screwed up their own game through, you're right, mis-management.

The fort fights were the coolest part of the game, and the city sieges were also hugely important.

If you watch the original videocasts they released before this game came out, it was to be much much bigger, and even more badass than you could imagine. They failed to deliver even 1/10th of that promise.

10. Re: Warhammer Online Server Closures, Free Transfers Feb 8, 2011, 19:04 justice7

I played Warhammer Online in its heyday. Servers were full of people, there was very active and vibrant RvR ... the game was a success, until people found out the endgame was busted and unfinished.

I had some of the absolute best gaming moments ever during my time in WAR, but that game requires a massive population to be interesting.

When you start throwing this game to scenarios and no RvR, it dies.

Let me know if you need a hand grandpa

I kid, I kid. One of the nice things about Windows 7 is that you can gracefully motherboard swap by the way, even between different manufacturers. I upgraded my motherboard, CPU and SSD on the weekend, took about 10 minutes from hardware install to windows login.

I did not know this was possible in Windows7, nice!

really looking forward to trying this out tomorrow night

People are really saying this doesn't break any new ground? What about the pve invasions and fighting those off, while fighting Rifts?

That imo, sounds pretty friggen interesting.

I don't know how they're going to manage the story driven side of this to flow with the multiplayer side. It's not like Mass Effect or Dragon Age were multiplayer...

We'll see what happens
