I kind of like being able to support D2D and still have my games imported into Steam. Yes, it means Steam. I'm pretty sure it's talking about XNA At Gamersgate it says "DRM: Requires a 3rd party download and account". Seems more like they mean Steam instead of XNA.
You're probably right. In any case, I picked it up on Steam. Played the first couple levels, really fun game. Doesn't seem very optimized though, runs a bit clunky and I've got a relatively high end gaming PC. Hopefully after some patches things clean up, but it's certainly an innovative game. |

Don't allow the player to go from standing to prone, make it a transitional thing. Standing -> Crouch -> Prone
If not that, make the gun point in an odd direction when going prone too quickly. So say you're moving forward and you jump prone, it should take you a second to get your bearings back and begin firing, all in which time someone shooting at you would have pumped you full of lead. |

Tumbler wrote on Dec 30, 2010, 14:24: I think it's kind of funny that the last time they did this with BF1943 the PC wasn't a platform they even supported.
Now they just quietly let u guys back in, hey cool how about a little competition between all out beloved platforms, PC vs 360 vs PS3, who will win, ok guys, lets all have fun, together, like we've always done, nothing weird about this.
Really worried about what BF3 will turn out to be at this point...
We took BFBC2, a game you know and love!, and we added jets!!! Hoorrayyy!!!! Everyone wants jets back, and big---- well no we kept the maps small and instead of letting you fly jets we will give you something we like to call "support-streak rewards" and you can tell us where you want the jet to attack and poof! boom Big explosion, Totally what u guys always have been asking for! Plus smaller game sizes so less lag!!! Horrayyy!!! Think of it this way, DiCE has had a lot of time and revisions to get the Frostbyte engine tweaked to hell. Medal of Honor, Bad Company 2, Vietnam etc..
Battlefield3 is going to do a bunch of things the others did not, and I have no grounds to say this on other than I've played BF games since the first, and can see the trend.
BF3 Features I think will be present which are not in BC2: -Prone (not lean, though) -Commander -Squads with Squad Leader -Artillery and UAV's, positioned by the Commander -64 Players, online persistent stats and greater war fought on all servers -Matchmaking and playlist system -Mod support -Server software -3D Capable -Clan Support -Working ingame voip, default enabled
If these are all in BF3, you can bet it will be the best FPS ever created. |

Sepharo wrote on Dec 29, 2010, 23:39: The best players crank the settings down, not up. I strongly, strongly disagree with the purpose of doing this. It destroys the game more than anything else does.
Removing foliage is a cheap ass cheat, if your system can handle the higher framerate with everything on (as in, the game being played the way it was MEANT to be played), then you should be doing that.
The simple fact players use this to cheat, and make them think they're superior for doing it is pretty friggen lame.
They're no better than aimbotters and wallhackers.
The only exception here is if your PC is struggling to find a smooth framerate, this is important for the enjoyment of the game. |

kinda hard to bash them for this; stat collecting is a very difficult thing to do on the scale these guys are doing it.
They could have everything set up the way they "think" it will go, real world scenarios dictate it works a little differently. |

I'm sorry that my cynicism of M$ bothers you, but decades of experience with them has evoked that feeling from me. Play nice all you want, but at the end of the day they've yet to come through for gamers after several empty statements stating that they intend to. Therefore, I've adopted the "I'll believe it when I see it mentality". Until then, I don't think they're capable of understanding what gaming needs and will remain skeptical. and I suppose you're turning a blind eye to everything to do with the 360 and Live, because you know.. that doesn't count when you're trolling right? |

So you lot are trying to tell me, that it's better to release an unfinished game and call it finished, than to sell you something and call it beta? At least they're being up front about it. |

Mostly_Harmless wrote on Dec 20, 2010, 04:15: I have problems with BC2 under Win 7 64 too, if I don't run it in XP compatibility mode it will CTD between almost every round, just at the point it starts to load the next map.
I still get this randomly even in XP mode and there are a good few others experiencing the same problem.
Shame because I like the game, I just can't play it for long without getting mad at it and I won't be buying any expansions unless they fix it. Make sure you update a few things,
Punkbuster Video Drivers and any other pieces of hardware which the game uses (motherboard, sound, etc)
If everything is up to date, it might solve your problems.
My setup works just fine/great with no CTD's..
Win7 64 Bit 4GB RAM ATi 5870 1GB
i think i'm running 10.12 hotfix drivers. |

for anyone complaining that WoW is too easy, have you tried a PVP server and doing a lot more PVP focused things in game?
If you want a challenge, that is where you'll find it. |

Your economic views are painfully simplistic. It's like you think we're the way we are because people are evil.
Most people aren't evil. But big corporations are. They answer to one thing and one thing only. The almighty dollar. I agree with everything you've said, but damn.. that Beamer guy has some serious anger issues! Went all crazy, blasting someone who understands the system better than he does.. it's not perfect, and that was my point. lol
For the sake of me being too lazy to quote him... i'll answer some of his questions.
War on Drugs = Capitalism because of how much it costs. It keeps people employed, it keeps the drug dealers employed. Ask the drug dealers if they would like to see Cannabis legalized? The answer is no.
I don't have any answers on how to 'fix' what has already started.. if that were the case this would be easy. However it is true, that corporations are about one thing, and that's money.
Money has helped us get to where we are, but there are some major problems with it.. like corruption.
I don't have the answers, only the questions. |

Absolutely. The same thing goes for natural/herbal drugs (which actually work, but aren't sold/patented because you can't patent a plant) ..
Same problem with private prisons, the war on drugs and the real reason we're not all driving electric cars and using solar panels instead of being hooked to the grid..

And fuck those WeGame clowns. I signed up and THEN they inform you that you need to be a premium - i.e. paid subscriber - to participate in their contest. Fucking assholes! And it's a shitty contest to boot. They pick 1 person per day untill their 20 keys are gone? There are sites out there giving away batches of 100 if you can snag one fast enough and you don't have to pay for them. Ehhh .. none of this stuff makes me even remotely interested in this game. I sometimes wonder why these companies shoot their own leg off. |
