News Comments > Wow, 11 Million WoW Players
5. Re: Wow, 11 Million WoW Players Oct 28, 2008, 22:29 Quark

No, they have only ever counted active subscriptions when listing numbers. Note many people have more than one account, so it's less players overall but the same amount of money goes to Blizzard so why would they care?

You guys know the brass paid out of pocket money to the employees for a month, right? That's totally and completely selfish, I know.

Hanbitsoft is just trying to make money themselves, just like Flagship tried (and failed).

The campaign is ~1/3rd done, not the game. You start adding campaigns later on in development. You've gotta have a game to play first.

Uh ... the whole argument is that they weren't provided legal warrants and still gave up the info anyway.

Exactly what I was afraid of. They shorten a product's lifetime dramatically, release a product that's not ready, get rewarded for it by the masses, and decide to do it all over again the next time.

Hurray for more 4 year console cycles and RRODs.

You missed the best part:

The cart size of the DS makes it impossible to put out ports of any of our old graphic adventures

Right, that's why I have Sam & Max, DOTT, Monkey Island 1, Monkey Island 2, and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis all copied from my CDs and playable via ScummVM. They couldn't possibly fit an adventure game on a cart, since those games all took more than 1 DVD alone right?

Exactly. Once is a mistake. More than once, always favoring the 360? Not a mistake.

I'd rather pay $60 for a game I enjoy than $40 for a game I don't.

Developers had a bad license agreement - but don't think for a second that it was Flagship that forced it out the door.

As always, it was EA.

Of course, I always wonder how many people bashing it have actually played it.

Do you know what off the record means?

"except for the online multiplayer"

Wouldn't that be a pretty big sticking point?

Um, they're planning on getting rid of the expensive one. The only time they got rid of the "cheap" one, it's because it wasn't selling at *all*.

Sorry this scenario doesn't fit your preset notions of how to criticize Sony.

Dagok: The Warner Bros Blu-Ray exclusivity begins in June.

Even better, she says specifically "not Wing Commander" in the comments for her original post saying "epic space game".

Okay, then. Well, at least she told the truth (once out of two tries).

Actually, Sony stopped doing that sometime last year.

But keep telling yourself they're lying, it'll make you feel better.

If you're one of the people that doesn't really care about extras, it doesn't matter at all!

Profile 1.0 players will play the movie parts of Profile 2.0 discs fine. Only extras that actually use the new profile options will be off limits.

http://www.pspsps.tv/2007/10/mgs4_producer_we_couldnt_do_wh.html

The 360 allows for up to 7GB on one disc for games. Given that it's supposed to be a dual layered game, the game will be at least 25 GB. Now, if everything split evenly, that'd already be 4 discs. But it doesn't, as much of the data must be on every DVD. How many discs? 6? 8? Or is it going to be ported with heavy compression to bring it down to a measly 4?

If it happens, a compromise will be made, that much you can be sure of.

Non of these rumors accounts for fitting a dual layer Blu-Ray game into a DVD-based game system.

And no, it can't just be split evenly, a bunch of data will have to be on every disc (or at least most of them), since you can't assume there's a hard drive to store common data on. How many discs?

I read the whole interview, and I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm reading it as him being an old has been who wants to turn the gaming market into a completely casual, empty experiences where you only get 5 hours out of a game.

No thank you.
