We shouldn't forget the heroes in all of this DRM mess, the crackers.
Without them, paying customers would have to put up with these draconian protection nightmares the publisher forces down our throats.
So, hats off to those individuals who allow us to play our games on our terms, freeing us from constantly asking permission to play something we already paid for.
Thanks, crackers, you are the true heroes.

Smooth move, ubisoft! Let's see how this affects your bottom line. This new DRM seems so supergay, who thought of this pile of urine?
You expect people to play a game that keeps calling home and asking momma for permission to keep playing every second? That's worse than little ralphy, the super nerd who still soils his diapers. Why are you trying to turn your customers into little ralphies?

| I don't know guys, X is the best space sim i've played, and that includes freelancer and iwar. There is just so much freedom to play the way you want to, plus mods open it up even more. This has been on my hard drive for many, many years. |

| i heard that this game could have been good, but because of lamebrain jetpack restrictions, it is a pile of huge crap. perhaps somebody will mod this on a PC and turn it into something worthwhile. |

I think everyone understands how game development works in the age of big budgets and console marketshare. Perhaps they shouldn't be directing such vitriol towards your pal CT, but the end result is the same. A dumbed down game whose potential is squandered by the console market.
If only consoles were more capable machines, with real input devices as flexible as the mouse/keyboard and the attention spans of their users lasted longer than a minute, there wouldn't be a problem.
But as it stands now, consoles create crap. |

DON'T FORGET :
JTD FIRE AND SMOKE - there is nothing like seeing the smoking remains of a heated battle. This mod also includes fire propagation which adds even more gameplay to the battlefield.
There are two things that DRAGON RICE has that I wish were a part of ArmA2. One is the soundfx and the other is the huge explosions and camera shake of mortars. But ArmA2 is so packed with everything else these are minor footnotes.

I ran into some very grisly DRM when I bought GTA4. Not only is there GFW crap to deal with, but Rockstar layered another DRM on top of that called it Social Club. Never again will i be subjected to such utter nonsense. This was all to play single player.
Never again.

You're right, Vange. OnLive is even WORSE than a bad ping, because you can't even control your own keyboard very well, let alone server delay!
But it's the video compression that really kills it. Why go back a few years in GPU advancements unless you own a MAC or are used to low-res crap like the WII? OnLive is for the desperate and mentally incompetent.

Since when does multiplayer gaming take place in ideal conditions? that's called LAN.
Onlive's compression is a factor, regardless of having a perfect connection. Also, even with 250 ms ping, Unreal is still playable, unlike the joke the Onlive presents its users with.
But I don't think serious gamers are the audience anyway. Obviously, if you are into gaming, you will have a rig that blows away what Onlive can provide you with under even the most ideal of circumstances.
Go after the MAC market, they don't have many games to start with. Or the WII crowd, who are used to low-res graphics.
