So far BC2 seems to be one of the better fps's released lately. There's a lots of graphics config options, and even since the beta they threw in a lot more things people wanted to control in game. FOV still requires a config edit, but it's not a big deal unless your one of those super picky people. FOV is set to 55, but that's vert which gives you like 70something degree's. I put mine to 75 which = about 90 degree's and it's really nice at 1900x1280.
I played through the single player so far, havn't gone online due to not having much time, but if it's anything like the beta it will be a blast. Since everyone compares it to MW1/2 there are a lot of things in the two games that are close. What I will say about BC2 is that it feels a lot more open. You really are on a path, but the levels just have a more open and grand feeling about them. Closer to crysis on the first few levels in terms of scale and focus. There's also a really open level in the middle that kinda screams "see if we wanted to we can make the whole game like this"(in terms of open/free world) |

| Yea, trying to camp the mcoms to defend them from rushers is fun when you realize there's no more walls to hide behind. Bullet pen still feels "off" in the game, but having some is better then none. |

| Jumping on preds is annoying. But other then that the usage of specials and marine controls is okay. I mean there really are not that many things to bind/do anyways. |

I'm through with marines and 1/2 done with the Pred single player. So far it's a mid range run of the will FPS. Walk to waypoint, shoot ambush, goto next waypoint. Pred gameplay is a bit better... but with your shields being your only defense, and your weps USING your shields your forced to basicly melee everything with the same 3 finishing moves over and over and over and over again. It's very tiring. All the controls feel off. The walking isn't smooth, it's like take a few steps and then jitters a bit for me. Weps feel right for marines and it was neat to see, but this honestly felt like an exp pack not a full game. And i've never played the first 2 all the way through.
This game just feels like a repeat with better graphics. Going to the alien homeworld (which is at the end of the marine campain screaming sequel) seems like it should have been this game. |

| Descent would be amazing. But I have so many fond memory's of it I don't know if a new one can stand up. Hell just the escaping the mine while the whole place explodes around you and you have NO waypoints or markers they did in descent 2 was so tense. I hate to say it, but if they do make a new one I think they'll dumb it down too much. |

| The two problems I have with redoing scenes to get the best outcome is that's just not how I play RPGS. Also sometimes it auto saves over the quick save after you finish a major scene. Having to go into the menu and save before EVERY dialog is just a game kill to me. |

Veterator: Instancing works well in the game. I hate instancing in general, but I think they did it okay from what I saw in beta. Small missions were small instance, big ones had over 80 people in them. Bases had enough to notice the population, but not crowd the NPCS. I agree that MMO's really shouldn't be instanced, but I see the need for it as if you had everyone in one server (there's no server list) You wouldn't be able to move let alone load everything.
I'm so glad I didn't decide to play this in retail though. Selling things that should be included in launch. |

| Wow not seeing the UI and only taking 5 second bursts of combat is what it takes for ground combat to look fun. That's sad, there's just way too much fighting in STO. |

| If there's a sniper rifle in the game... there needs to be prone. I don't even like sniping much, but I see were this is coming from. Who would stay exposed when they can lay down to take objectives? Now I havn't played the game yet, but hearing no prone leans me towards the whole not buy side of the camps. |

The planet scan thing is annoying... but honestly you don't have to scan every planet. For compleation I have gone and launched one probe at each one. But what I did was just havested the first set of planets (about 20 mins) and that lasted me through the next 20 hours of the game. Then had to go harvest another set(about 15 things) and that's lasted me a while for upgrades. You scan every one once to make sure there's no hidden mission, but outside that you don't have to go do it. Unlike the mako which was kinda forced to land and do those awful segments over and over and over. ~_~
Also I wish they'ed put in that whole "create you history" thing that PA was talking about. Maybe as an unlock for finishing the game. Let's you just choose what happened in the last game, instead of trying to just rip someone else's save off the internet. Also I would love it if they kept all the probes between playthroughs, but I know that isn't going to happen.

I agree, everything gameplay wise is way better then ME1. The ONLY console thing I see in here is in a few of the menus. Where I go to double click and it dosn't work so I have to click the button at the bottem of the screen. That and the mousewheel not working to scroll in game menus (which there arn't many that even need it) are my only real console design notices.
The RPG aspects are slimmed down, but it fits and works well with the faster battle system. |

Just make it peer 2 peer already and you've got the same headlines/complaints as MW2. I think more so.
Does this still need steam to run then EA.com to log in? |

I want to like the game. But there's enough nagging issues that I can't put down the money for it. Yes there's a lot of things they can fix in patches, but there seems to be core gameplay issues that will take more then that to fix.
PvP for me sucked. Went in... flew around at low speed and had 8 Klingon's decloak and rape my ship in 2 seconds. Was dead while the alert noise was still playing. Only way to pull them out if on a 1.5 min cooldown and has no range compared to the area you fight in. No up or down too without flying in big circles (100 degree possitive flight in space) |

hehe I that was one of the first things I tried when I was in beta. no loops in space It's sad, there's just enough cool things in beta to make me want to play... but there's also a ton of issues with game play and tech that are keeping me from putting down money. This coming from a person who's suffered through more bad MMO launches then i'd like to admit.
I never noticed a log in problem, and after the first week didn't have DC's, but things like doing a 45 min quest and then not having it count just got annoying. |

| I like the game, but not enough time to try it out and see if it's worth paying for. It's fun at the start, but you basicly get down to doing the same 3 missions over and over for the first 6 ranks. There's no sign of it opening up into a more ST type game. I'd love to have some reason to dump the lifetime subscription even, but there's just this nagging feeling of the game being compleatly the same for all 60 of it's levels and never opening into the endless paths a space mmo (esp a ST one) should be taking. |

I'll have to play the single player again... but from what I remember you were in DC as the counter attack AFTER the civilians were evacuated. There's even a radio message when your flying over the capital asking you to cover the LAST civilian evacuation transport.
I wonder HOW on earth the person writing this article can just forget to mention this? did they just miss small details like this after paning other people that overlooked details while railing on the game? Yes there should have been bodies from the attacks. But none of the levels had bodies just laying around from the first attacks. |

Don't get me wrong. I'm on the boat of 6 still being the best.
But for me 7 was way overrated. 8 was okay, but they still had a lot of mistakes but it fixed a lot of things. 9 did everything right from old school, but they didn't advance or try anything really new. 10 was a nice jump but 12 just did everything better. It was just taking the best of all the FF's throwing in a new combat system(real time) and executing it all right.
All of the games I dumped over 100 hours of my life into each and enjoyed for different reasons. But 12 just felt better in the overall scale and scope of everything. Considering you can pick it up for like 20 bucks now it is well worth the price. I have to admit i'm liking Tales series games a bit more lately then FF games.
